  1. I just had to verify my address on the site, and it seems all is OK, I'll see next month, I guess. My last transfer after verifying my address came in a few hours vs. a few days before.
  2. Could check with Schwab, they have Thai branches. No idea of requirements.
  3. No just used the bing search on the new tab. Yahoo is my opening page with yahoo search and then can open new tab with bing search. Now again today they updated me to new yahoo mail that I think sucks and if I want to keep the old one have to pay $5/mo. First Skype now this. Hell, I'll pay just stop "improving" stuff that works.
  4. Thanks for the input. I know it's stupid, but I do enjoy a smoke, a few a day would be fine, but 20 a day isn't working. I was required to take spirometry testing for work and 20 years ago the doc said I had the lungs of a 90 year old, but I could walk all day no problem. I wouldn't be running marathons or climbing mountains, but it didn't affect my daily life. After I had Covid 2 years ago it slowly got worse. The meds I'm on seem to work well and my breathing capacity has returned. I'm thinking worst comes to worst the patch and a few cigs is better than nothing.
  5. After over 50 years of addiction, I'm trying to quit. Tried cold turkey and gum before without much success, the only time I quit was in basic training because I couldn't. But then they said smoke em if you got em, so I did, he ll they had small packs included in the c rations, MRE for the youngsters. My question is long term use of the patch. I was surprised how well they work for the physical cravings, but the biggest problem is psychological. It's hard to give up your best friend always there no matter what. I know that total abstinence is best, but if I can't I think 4/5 a day with the patch is better than a pack a day. The program is 3 months long and smoking is permitted first two weeks and hopefully will get to zero, but if not, I think it's better than before a pack a day. TIA
  6. I just had this today when using the yahoo search bar, got the same message. The Bing bar on the new tab screen worked as normal.
  7. I have the opposite problem. On Skype they can hear me, but they are very low volume on my end. On Teams both volume levels are fine. Problem is can't make calls from Teams. Guess I will give Sonetel a try.
  8. There is a thread on the IT forum with info.
  9. That's what I'm looking for too. There are many ways to make cheap calls using your Thai phone. What I need is the US local number that Skype provided. Looks like Google voice might work for that but will need someone in the states to set up and then port my current number to that account. Hopefully
  10. Thanks for the info. If I can keep that working, it will be great.
  11. There are plenty of ways to call, even using your Thai number the cost is still not that expensive. The great thing about Skype is the My Skype Number which gives you a number with any area code you want and allows people to call you just like a regular phone. I had no problem receiving codes from banks etc. it didn't work for the My SS site (US) but could use my Thai number for that. The lack of communication from Skype about the changes is the problem, no more top up option I can deal with. What I want to know is if you can renew the My Skype Number when my current term expires? You can no longer get a new My Skype Number at this time.
  12. My Skype # has the option of either forwarding to other # or voicemail. At least for the time being with the service up in the air at present.
  13. Just did a transfer from BB to another Thai bank and went thru same as always. Hopefully stays that way.
  14. On my last two transfers Wise took out the money the next day from my US account and held it for five days before transferring to my Thai account. It seems they are holding the cash in limbo for some reason. Are they earning interest or just short of Baht?
  15. Having the same type of problem with transfers from the US also. Taking 5/6 days. There is a thread going in the banking section if interested.
  16. I have been using Wise for several years now and it was always a few hours or if transferring for long term stay in Thailand the next day. This month I got the same micro deposit explanation; it ended up taking 6 days. They did apologize and gave me a free transfer up to 1000 GBP about 1300 USD so that was cool, did a transfer today and the same thing it will be 6 days again. The last time this happened the $ was up vs the Baht. Could the reason be they are low in Baht supply and don't want to buy?
  17. If I were the durian farmer I'd be watching my trees at night. Thieves will poison dogs before trying to steal later.
  18. VT1 is in a good location but don't stay on the Thappasit road side the road noise is very loud. Also, only one pool for both buildings.
  19. Boy o Boy a campfire or burgers on the grill must send some of you into a frenzy.
  20. I use Skype my number. About 50 USD/year you can choose any area code you want. It works well for me with getting the codes. People stateside can call it just like a local call.
