OTA 1.1 has arrived - has anybody already installed it? The Changan Deepal is on display in a shopping mall near us - sat in it and played a little with the infotainment, wow......just wow! BYD needs to get their act together to keep up with this offering. Charging has all the functions like limiting power, programming charge time, max charge etc. 360 cameras have recording function, and the navigation looks like something from Google maps.........overall, nicely built cars. Less battery capacity, no 4WD, lesser suspension tech compared to Seal, but on par with the Atto 3. Frameless doors might not be to everybody's liking. Very attractive price, good competition, keeps everybody on their toes and will definitely eat into BYD sales.

Just in case of surprise about the above stated consumption figure of 18 kWh/100 km, for reference a comparison table from a Thai 'tester'. Keep in mind that what he tested and what you might get could differ quite a bit, since testing parameters are not well defined and could change the indicated consumption significantly.

I take it you are taking that range from the GOM, not actual distance? I did a Hua Hin to Bangkok return trip, with some heavy stop-and-go in Bangkok traffic - actual range was around 450 km (Performance version, Normal mode outside the city, Eco mode in the city) On a previous trip without the extensive BKK traffic crawling, I got over 510 actual km. Consumption after almost 5,000 km is 18 kWh/100 km - which computes to a theoretical range of 460 km, usable range of around 420 km (leaving a 10% battery buffer) After charging to 100%, the GOM also shows 580 km - it's feel good therapy I guess.

Trump is dominating the primaries. That doesn’t mean he’ll beat Biden
mistral53 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Truly staggering, indeed. Do you think Biden will best Trump in this race to fuel the national debt? Looking at the US debt clock, as of this moment, the figure is 34.1 Trillion, and there is another 12 months to go. Neither of these clowns should be president. -
Ooohhhh wonders of technologies......... the Seal has one of the famed heat pumps to keep you cozy - simply run the AC system in reverse. So it's not a PTC heater of yore, which is very power hungry, but the nowadays industry standard heat pump. I would not be surprised if even the BYD Dolphin is equipped such.

Did you guys check the software level before and after? For my 3 months/5000 km service, a software update was one thing I noticed..........apart from all the settings for the seat, AC, language etc they inadvertently changed........urrrggghhhhhh!

Completely agree with you and @JBChiangRai - lots of folks don't understand brake blending. 150 kW is the max regen I have seen flashing on the display, when breaking from high speed and putting the binders on hard - which just so happens to be the max charging power the vehicle is designed for. This is what matters to me most, because it indicates a lot of energy is recuperated and not wasted in heating up the brake disks. Has anybody seen higher regen power? BTW - comparing braking performance, the best test I have seen as it is run under identical conditions.........result might surprise you

Charging the amphibian: The owners manual suggests to charge to 100% is preferred. I am using solar to charge, so charging is usually distributed over several days, or just a few hours on some days. Are you guys following the instructions strictly? Has anybody done some research - will this affect the battery longevity negatively?

Didn't we have another 'China Observer' thread a few days ago...........? Seems to me somebody is trying to get some additional clicks on this YT channel - this guy has found gold, making YT content to feed on the insecurities of a group of losers jealous of China's success.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

The BYD Seal and the Xiaomi SU7 are not even on the same planet, technology wise - that presumably will be reflected in the price. I would not be surprised if it is 50% higher than the Seal top model. The top performance version was modeled on the Tesla Plaid, so expect prices to be similar, albeit lower. Xiaomi is not entering the vehicle manufacturing field tip-toeing - they plan a full frontal assault...... watch out Tesla and BYD. -

From my experience, the battery needs to be disconnected from the car to get accurate readings on the 12V battery SOH? -

Maybe that automation process is necessary to solve this problem: vandalism.mp4 -

Although I hate Google with a passion, this Android Auto really starts to get bloody good, starting to nip on the heels of Tesla, to wit - 'Google upgrades with new features to Android Auto, the system displays information on the screen, the car features the key is Android Auto can show the remaining battery of the electric car, EV, then can order, navigate with Google Maps, and then forecast that the battery will rest for a few percent at arrival, including recommended charging point on the way.' -
You are right, but I think the OBC will max out at 7 kW - my wallbox is putting out a steady 7.5 kW, the car shows 6.6 to 6.7 kW going into the battery, with a surprisingly good efficiency.
-
Screenshots: ABB pulls around 7.3 kW, Seal stuffs 6.4 kW into the battery It seems the charger is attached to the lowest voltage phase @229.5V - I wonder if you switch to a different phase with over 240V I could get a higher charge power.......
-
Interesting that my ABB indicates to draw over 7.2 kW - the car indeed only 6.4 to 6.5. Have you checked your ABB internal information screen? On this one, I did not question much the numbers I saw, just jogged it off as a conversion rate at the lower end with around 15% loss, which is not at all that unusual - Tesla's are in the same ballpark. One more observation: You are correct that the AC wallcharger is nothing more than a fancy switch, but it is also limiting the power it will draw. It will not go over the nominal 7.4 kW - to protect the feed wiring. In other words - if you hook up a Taycan with a 22kW OBC, it will only pull 7.4 kW max.

Tell this to the folks who are on the bench in the US for voicing their discontent on January 6. But more importantly - when are you going to buy a BYD?
-
I'd get this BYD in a heartbeat if it were sold in Thailand..........gawd its a cool toy!! its the BYD Yangwang U9 BYD Yangwang U9 _ EV.mp4

I prefer fake carbon fiber over real plastic - at least the kind we have on our Thailand cars (the Chinese have much nicer plastic, I would not need to add this fake carbon fiber) But it looks so much better now.

Could a USB hub help with this? Have you tried?

Mind-boggling that the GWM Tank 500 at a price of THB 2,3 M is showing such a respectable sales figure - outselling established brands. Missing in action in this list is the MG Maxus - plenty of those around here. -
You mean in total or just for the installation? My saleswoman said it would be THB 4,000 for the cam and install - so I bought it and installed it myself....... took me about 15 minutes, including watching 3 YT videos.
