Electric Vehicles in Thailand
mistral53 replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
This idea looks better by the minute...... the question is, will supply outstrip demand and prices will drop further? My problem is - I have a Huawei inverter and they don't lend themselves for this application, just their own batteries, and they sell them for gadzillions $$$ - a total of 100 kWh between the two retired car batteries in this installation. -

Do I read this correctly that from 2 to 5 in the morning I could charge my battery from the grid @ 20.24p, and from 16 to 19 hours I could sell it back to the power company @ 38.03p? Quite some arbitrage in that pair.........😂 -

The ozone layer is crucial for life on Earth due to its role in protecting the planet from harmful ultraviolet ( UV-B and UV-C ) radiation from the sun. -
My office is a little less than 40 sqm, and I spend 80% of the time I am home in that small 'room' and don't have claustrophobia. I consider that to be 'living' as much as those farangs that spend the whole day in their favored pub nursing on a big Leo........ 🤪

Its a win for the customers that are buying right now - but I have to hand it to you, your purchase of NVDA a 8 months ago was a good financial decision...........just in case you did not buy NVDA a year ago, you made a poor financial decision and must now be one of the big time FOMO losers. I take it you were equally ecstatic when Tesla dropped prices....... yes? -

The BYD Dolphin special campaign is already done.......sold out. Next batch will be Thai made. There seem to be a lot of 'idiots' out there that have not gotten the memo about EVs being total rubbish and only ICE makes the (Oil) owners happy..........lol -

Just be sure the motherboard is TPM enabled or you cant run WIN 11. Not that I recommend or endorse WIN 11, but because you mentioned that route. -
BYD Oh what a feeling, thrown under the bus.

The auto 'expert' out for click-bait again.......lol I didn't listen to, or read the whole story in its entirety - but but the gist of it is this cool family drove a BYD for 15 month, put 12,000 km on it and then wanted their money back? or is it all just a scam so they could be in the news? and their story milked as click-bait by more idiots for some YT $$? I am not defending BYD how or if they (mis)handled(?) this case, they probably could have responded better, but if anything it goes to show that any glitch in an EV is gobbled up with alacrity by some ideologists. One commenter sums it up succinctly: Unless BYD were refusing to replace the battery, this seems like a beatup. Did I miss something? The idea of full refunds under warranty is practically unheard of in almost any retail experience. This failure sounds unfortunate but not unusual that a car broke down under warranty. -
Thailand Refuses To Sign Document Of The Swiss 'Peace' Summit

Then there is this: "On June 26, 1954, the Obninsk Nuclear Power Plant became the first nuclear power plant in the world to go into commercial operation. This day rightfully became known as the birth of nuclear energy. In a TASS announcement from July 1, 1954, it was stated: "In the Soviet Union, efforts by scientists and engineers successfully completed the design and construction of the first commercial nuclear power plant with a useful capacity of 5000 kilowatts." The announcement of the launch of the world's first nuclear power plant came as a complete surprise to both the Soviet and global public, as nothing about its development and construction had been published in open sources; everything was kept strictly confidential. Starting in 1956, the station was open to both Soviet and foreign delegations. The first nuclear power plant was visited by many prominent political figures, scientists, and tens of thousands of ordinary people from almost every country in the world. On April 29, 2002, in accordance with an order from the Minister of Atomic Energy, in a ceremonial setting, the reactor of the first nuclear power plant was shut down for good. The plant operated without incident for 48 years, setting a record for the longest operation of a nuclear reactor." -

Its behind a paywall (or registration trap), but even if I violate my own stated requirements, I would not be ready to take anything the FT publishes as even remotely as factual. BTW, just for giggles, here is what ChatGPT 'thinks': '"I remember Putin saying early on in a public interview, Shoigu said we want Ukraine as Russian territory to which Putin replied 'We're not talking about that Sergei'. Factual Context: This specific exchange between Putin and Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu is not a well-documented or widely reported incident. It could be a misremembering or misinterpretation of a public or private conversation that has not been verified by credible sources. However, it's important to note that official Russian rhetoric has not publicly acknowledged a goal of outright annexation of the entirety of Ukraine. I suggest you go to YT and search for John Mearsheimer, watch his rather different view on the subject of the conflict, very enlightening. -

That is a ton of conjecture you are trying to sell as facts...... but I bite: Please give me the sources cited, in Russian, so the actual meaning of what Putin said can be verified. There is so much manipulation and 'lost in translation' applied in Western propaganda, it's nigh impossible to get facts. Or to be clear - in all propaganda, east and west. Case in point is a recent presser of Meloni which a translator turned into 'If Russia does not agree to the terms, we will force her to surrender.' - was totally made up. -
Here is another one of those curious cases: Even though Mat said 87% in his voice over, and the calculated value is 87.5%, in the final comparison they displayed the actual range as 82%....... honest mistake? bias?

I have to admit I am puzzled by his results - I easily got 490 km on a tank of electrons, with part of it in stop and go BKK Rama 3 traffic, plus mostly 90+ km/h on Thai pseudo 3 lane Hwy. In this test, he claims to get as little as 342 km range - something does not add up - but what?

The BYD ACC seems to have a problem. I first thought this is a car specific problem to my car, but it seems this is a general bug, and it is annoying........ who else has encounter their ACC surging?

I noticed voice assist as rather strange compared to before, too - maybe it needs to be trained again? I remember in the early days of 'voice command' on MB and VAG vehicles, it had to be trained to get any semblance of usable operation.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

Indeed - and what is even more entertaining is that there are people so bored in their lives - they spend all day just scouring every nook and cranny all over the Internet to find complaints of customers with Chinese EV's. What I observed is that in general, Thai FB postings are coalescing around negative events - its almost as if the average Joe and Jill in Thailand is searching for others that are worse off to make themselves feel better, also know as "downward social comparison"........lol Conversely - these guys are a pure joy to follow: https://www.facebook.com/share/nhzH5afnjNRUA6Yt/ -

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

I truly hope there will be more BYD Seal fiascos so their cars will be getting even cheaper........ but alas, reality has usually other, much more mundane explanations: (from the linked article, machine translated) quote: 'BYD discount battery? The main reasons that BYD announced a discount supplier of battery in electric car, born from lower cost of production, continued with the principles of Economy of scale even produced a number of price per piece more was down earlier by the way, BYD has announced a discount on electric cars before, and then as a result of lower cost of production. make can be lowered the price of new cars down. It also affects the subject case, the car accident in the future, because the price of battery discharge, the new price is down more than original than 40%, resulting in a change a new battery due to accident lower cost than the original.' Lower cost of production is a far more plausible explanation, albeit, less sexy than some wild guessing about fake news. -

ChatGPT thinks there a some subtle, but significant differences: 'In short, China and Russia are not colonizing Africa in the traditional sense. Instead, they are heavily involved in the continent through economic investments, trade, political engagements, and military cooperation. These activities are sometimes criticized for creating economic dependencies and exerting significant influence, but they do not constitute colonization as historically defined.'
