  1. Free charging for (some) BYD owners, and the consequences........ How much did you save last month?
  2. Clearance sale - they seem to be preparing for the new model: https://carnewschina.com/2024/08/21/second-generation-mg-zs-to-become-a-hybrid-for-europe-and-australia/
  3. That would be shocking if your SOH dropped to 95% after only a few months of usage - something in that reading got to be wrong. Or you are doing everything wrong in your charging practice?
  4. Same here - I just got a green light from my sales rep, she said the problem has been resolved and the app should again work as intended......... will see next time I try.
  5. There might not be an email reply - just a credit........
  6. Am I the only one who cant use the BYD ReverSharge app with direct discount? Does anybody else have this problem? I have been advised to simply email my charge events, and Rever will refund back to my cc within 30 days - does not seem to be a very efficient method.
  7. Although the Chinese are good - even they would blush with your wildly exaggerated number of 39 million........ but I like your attempt to discredit yourself in a total FUBAR
  8. Until very recently, I would have brushed his antics aside - but his visit a few days ago to Capitol Hill during the visit of a certain war criminal has firmly put my decision against ever owning a Tesla. Nothing personal, just my wallet voting my conscious.
  9. I think what he implied was that he would live in that place after cleaning only....... some people live under a bridge and feel perfectly fine.
  10. Cool video, and it appears BYD took care of some of the limitations of their batteries in the upgraded 3.0 Evo version, which allows them to push the envelop further. The unanswered question is regarding the entire design philosophy - a youtuber (Gilevich Sergey) stated it very well by comparing German and Chinese made cars: The Germans build their cars for the autobahn without speed-limits, the Chinese build cars for a top speed of 150 km/h because nobody is allowed to go faster. The current generation BYD Seal is a good example for his point: above 150 km/h, the car is unsafe to drive.
  11. Yup - that would explain this........ My point was simply that the BYD Seal charges with 7.X KW on one phase.
  12. Of course, why would I trust my lying eyes when we have your opinion to the contrary... Alas - this is how all ABB chargers for the BYD Seal in Thailand are set up by default.
  13. The ABB wall box charges 7.5 kW on a single phase in the BYD Seal. Actually, even the single phase MG wall box we have for the HS PHEV charges the Seal with 7.2 kW, alas, the tiny cable the MG wall box uses gets way too hot for my taste.
  14. Count me in.....total airhead here checking in
  15. Surprisingly - no ADAS, not even ACC, makes it a real entry level vehicle. The problem with this approach is, it will by definition not achieve a 5 star safety rating. BYD has at times a rather arcane marketing approach.
  16. 2025 BYD Seal: this should have always been part of the Seal:
  17. Stands to reason that this BYD goodwill action is on track to just aggravating a situation they tried to ameliorate with this freebee. It took me 3 attempts to finally get a full charge and I did it around 21:00. I reasoned with myself that if I cant get free charging, over the next 5 month, this means I forgo between 5 and 10,000 THB, that is a couple dinners at best......so why get all stressed out? Moreover - as we get into October, I have more than enough solar output to cover the electricity consumption of this car, so my savings calculated above are even less optimistic. Just relax and chill out - the stress is not worth it!
  18. I read in a comment to a YT clip on the 1.2.1 OTA, that he feels the car is faster, and that he is seeing 410 kW power output readings now. For the record, I never saw over 390 kW, which is the advertised rated power. So yesterday I got a full load of free electrons, courtesy ReverScharge. When driving off, I set the car to sports mode, red frame and all, and floored it - lo and behold, I saw a brief 408 kW reading on the display. A little later on a quiet stretch, I did a 3.6 s run to 100 km/h, which I have seen is a pretty standard time. Is the car faster now? or is this just an insidious play on our gullible minds? I remember when McLaren upped the power on the MP4-12C from 590 to 625 Hp, it was a very discernible additional shove until our bodies and minds adjusted to the new power level.
  19. Interesting graph. I think you got it backwards, though - Thailand has 64 LDV per charging point, which is pretty dam poor. It does not help that too many of the charging points are AC, either. Just check where China is - by far in the lead, especially because China also has the highest power output per vehicle. (China bashers just move on, nothing to see her.........lol)
  20. I fail to understand why BYD is limiting the phones that will work with this feature - especially why they opened a bunch of Samsung phones (not all of them) and no Chinese phones. Well, I could understand why they would block Xiaomi phones......lol
  21. What do you think about the Kia EV5 interior? I sat in one at the BKK car show, and my wife and I agreed that it was very plastic looking and all hard surfaces - it might be a nice car in other respects, but for us it was just totally out of place compared to the Chinese brands.
  22. Anybody already installed the digital key? I am not using Android 14 on my old Huawei........probably a good excuse to get a new phone........lol
  23. Nice wheels - they look strong enough for the heavy car. Do you know the wheel width of the original rims?
  24. Proper shoes: This size should have been an option form the factory, or if not 20", I would take 'em in 19" too. The skinny tires on the seal are borderline dangerous. The guys is using 8.5 x 20, with +40 offset. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/X9X8LSt7UZ2KGsPE/
