  1. Here's a tip kid, don't play with matches.
  2. I've been driving here daily since 2000. Up until about five years ago, about 60kkm a year. I think the driving and drivers, and traffic has improved significantly. I cannot speak for other countries, but I know that in the US, we grew up driving. You're on your dad's lap when you're 10 or 12, and by 14 doing a bit of driving in secluded areas. At 15 1/2 years, we got a permit, and at 16 a license. Middle/working class kids got jobs and bought cars or motorcycles, or their parents bought them cars while still in high school. We also packed ten kids in the back of pickups for a ride to the beach or the drive in, and plenty of kids had minibikes, go-carts and/or motorcycles long before we had licenses, so all the outrage from the condescending a-holes gets a little tiresome. I know a lot more kids that died or had their lives ruined due to drugs and or alcohol than I do from road accidents, but I do not hear anyone up in arms about the bars or the proliferation of weed shops. People here do not seem to start driving here until they are 25, if ever.
  3. Looking out the window on Songkran always reminds of what I like most about Thailand.
  4. That is not what I meant. My financial situation is such that I am always concerned about what I spend. What I am saying, is that I think some pools and associated equipment are cheaper and easier to maintain than others. Paying more initially for a pool that will be significantly cheaper and or easier to maintain in the future may be a worthwhile investment. Do your homework. I would also much rather spend the extra dough to get what I want, than spend the next twenty years wishing I had. I am not a fan of the way overflow pools look, but If I was, I would spend the extra dough to get what I want. "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten."
  5. I have a "new" house I need to renovate, and I want to add an outbuilding that includes a mechanical room. Is anyone using an easy to use, reasonably priced windows software for doing simple designs and "3D" renderings that include dimensioning? Also, does can anyone recommend someone that does architectural renderings from photos to compare different color schemes on the house? Any recommendations for construction, electrical, plumbing and or AC contractors in the Pinklao/Taling Chan area of Bangkok would be appreciated.
  6. They also cook much faster and more completely. I would much rather have a burger that extend out if the bun, than a ball in the middle of the bun and a burger that looks like it will fall over.
  7. If you are going to do the work yourself anyway, unless you are sure they are rusted out, and not just leaking, the first thing you should do is pressure-wash out the old gutters and inspect them. It might just be seams leaking of even overflowing.
  8. Not at cheap as the plastic gutters, but you can get galvanized, stainless and (I think) aluminum gutters roll-formed to length, at site. The only seams are at the corners and downspouts.
  9. If one is concerned about price, I think the primary concern of any capital investment should be the maintenance costs. Much like a wife...
  10. Unless I'm missing something, why not use the new union with a reducer? Pictures of what you want to do would help.
  11. Facebook marketplace has a bunch. You can also rent them Are you going to dig septic for the batroom?
  12. After all the disappointments, I've gone to straight pork. With beef, a coarser grind and a lot of fat typically makes for a good burger that binds well. For all burgers, I like to smash patty thin (I use wax paper and a plate) cook them hot and they plump and juice-up nice. I think ground beef really needs a good bit of salt to bring out the flavor.
  13. My Krunsri app quit working wanting me to confirm my mobile number. I just had to turn off the wifi, and push confirm.
  14. Has any work been done on the vehicle? Do we have any idea how long it has been leaking? Could be the water pump leaking and making the noise, but the noise may or may not be related to the leak. How tight is the belt? I would oil the tensioning pulley and see it the noise changes before I pulled the water-pump. It's been a long time since I had a water pump go out, but as I remember, once they get noisy, they do not last long.
  15. Have the engine cleaned, drive a few kms and look for leaks.
  16. Did the French not start Vietnam?
  17. Non-Mexicans can legally be compelled to stay in Mexico until they are approved. Asylum seekers do not get to choose which country they go to. Again, no one is attempting to block admission of qualified refugees. The truth is that no legislation was needed to close the border. Biden opened it intentionally, and Trump closed it back up in a couple weeks.
  18. I do not think it needs as much money to run as it has been. Every administration, with the possible exception of Biden's has run on cutting waste and fraud and closing the border. This administration meant it.
