  1. Many different owl species throughout Thailand and really most of the world.
  2. I submitted my 90 day this past Monday. It is due this Sunday. Normally I get a accepted and complete within 2 days. Now, Status says "Pending", and there is a red check under the Cancel column. Any idea what that means? Thanks.
  3. Last week week I had received a small item from Lazada, but the wrong item. The seller refunded the 225 baht. Lazada said they put it in the "Lazada Wallet". I tried to take the money out, but they emailed the rules, which say only Thai people can get the refund. This happened to me a few years back. After I contested the rule, they told me they need a copy of my bankbook and passport, the numbers were not enough, they needed a digital copy. So it eventually happened, I got my refund accepted, to be sent to my bank (eventually). Today I am shopping at Shopee.
  4. For the many "Know-it-alls" here. Diabetes is not just for fat or obese people. I am 5'7", 100 pounds or 46 kilo for those that can't count. I have diabetes, type 2 not because I am fat, or eat junk food all day. Genetics spelled it out for me. So stop being ignorant and learn about something before opening the big trap and letting out the hot air.
  5. Many times if you use FedEx or DHL, they go right to customs and you end up with crazy extra charges. I have brought bagpipes from Scotland via Fedex, value of about $1000 USD on a good day. They went right to customs, (for a week), accessed a charge of $400 USD. Anytime I've had to deal with Fedex, the charges were over the top on items coming in. I have hand carried in bagpipes and never got questioned.
  6. Try Shopee.co.th They usually have the same items.
  7. "Wifes mum has severe cancer and is in hospital, she cant poo or pee by herself and her kidneys have shut down now as well, they want us to take her home to take care of her ." Most hospitals I assume will give the home patient a morphine drip or equivalent to stop or minimize pain, and show you how to maintain it, as well as come by to check on the patient. That's how I have seen it done in Nakhon ratchasima. From my experience, they give enough to keep the patient in a "near-coma" like state. Cancer here is real common and is usually not caught until late stage 4. When symptoms occur, it is usually too late to stop it. Unless you have big money for treatments that might give a little extra time only. Weeks, not years.
  8. We always used TSL in Bangkok for my retirment visa and my wife's USA visa. TSL & associate Co. Ltd. TSLthailand, com 02-251-8130 Wireless road, across from the US embassy.
  9. I went about 6 years ago. Loved it. I hired the tuk tuk driver who hung out at the hotel for three days. I think he asked $20 a day for three days. He would meet me at the hotel at 7 am, and I had him take me to the temples. He was available all day. He would park and wait while I was sight-seeing. In town, the restaurants would only take USD, and it had to be crisp unfolded. It got so nuts I verified my money was usable BEFORE I ate. If you eat at the hotels, it is normal to put it on the bill or pay cash, and not such a requirement to have perfect money. Same with the shops, dollars preferred if big ticket items. I spent 3 days, and went to the smaller temples first and had them mostly all to myself. There are 8 or 9 very cool ones in the complex. Outside the complex there are 20 or more that are un-restored and very cool. The main building is busy all day, and sunsets there are fair, nothing to "must-see", though a few thousand were at the big building at sunset.
  10. So I can safely assume fishing and sleeping are also a form of employment? My village is then fully employed!
  11. How stupid can it get? Before I got hacked and blocked on Facebook earlier this year, I could buy ganja, any sex object and guns all day from FB classified. But post a picture of a beer? Amazing. Someone has their head up the wrong place.
  12. All they need to do is look locally. I would bet every village has at least a few people making charcoal. One small operation can fill the entire village and then some with smoke that can last all day and night. Our small village currently has 4 major burn operations. Only after many hours of work behind the scenes did we get the local government, NOT the village lead, to do something. At least we got the smokers inside the village to stop (most of the time). Now we can breath. This village also has a history of cancer deaths that would scare anyone. No one seems to care.
  13. You need a Usufruct. Any good law office will know. I have one. You wife must also sign it. If she dies before you, the house stays in your name until you die, then it goes to her next of kin. I did it about 3 years ago, cost around $250 then. It is also registered with the Thai government, so no surprises should occur.
  14. I get the same thing when no water is flushed down the drain. If I put a small bucket of water down it every night, no smell.
  15. I have taken the 5 minute drive to the local Kerry shop and picked up my packages after they failed to deliver 3 days in a row, saying either no one was home, or wrong address, or no answer on the phone. I also tell shop owners where I buy things on Lazada to use anyone BUT not Kerry. Tell Kerry do not put on the truck or Bike and you will pick it up. Shops are always nearby.
  16. Play the bagpipes, photography, walk, bike ride. All that and taking care of the yard and house keep me plenty busy.
  17. If Thailand doesn't stop the proliferation of guns now, they will soon end up like the USA; a shooting every day in every city at the least and no end in sight.
  18. I did that on one corner. It did not seem to matter. I guess the pan is too shallow and narrow.
  19. House is about 5 years old now. Builder long gone. I have a steep roof line, and where different angles meet, the rain is run into narrow aluminum pans that lead to the gutters. When a heavy downpour comes, the water gets under the tiles and into the house. I keep the leave out of the areas where the water runs as best as I can. I either need someone to come look to tell me how to fix it, or give me price quotes for them to fix it. House is just outside Phimai. Thanks.
  20. If you are trying to clean up the air and claim your countries air (Thailand) is clean, look at every tiny village. I would bet good money there are at least a few people making charcoal every day or night. We have a village of about 500 people. I know of 4 large burning operations. Many nights the air is thick with smoke. If I keep the windows open, a greasy black gum coats everything. If this is the typical village, how many thousands of people are making charcoal in the country? If you have never seen this, thick black smoke will cloud the area all night. There may be laws against it, but there is no one to enforce it. It is not just Chiang Mai, it is all across the country.
  21. I have a Dell Inspiron. Every time I do a windows update, the speakers do not work. I know you checked the drivers, but did you reload them after an update? If the headphones do not work as well, look in settings, device manager, audio inputs and outputs. If working you should see "device working properly". If not, reload the drivers. If you have already done this, sorry for the un-needed post. I've never had internal speakers go bad. It has always been software caused.
