Done Ranong once before, easy and also ok to stay overnight using the local bus roundtrip.
One of the easiest border runs I had, same as Kachanaburi.
Done minivan service twice in Thailand. Hate them, never again
At least he is young and creative, I feel with those kids growing up with dysfunctional mothers, families and fathers who cant care for themselves. Who moved here for the paradise and living the dream, ended up as alcoholic in rural villages.
There is a few of them
If my wife pulled this on me, I would divorced her!
Her parents never asked for one baht, but I give when I see they need something, same as her brother do.
We also pay them to work for us, so they do not need to ask.
Many of my skydiving friends bought old school busses they rebuilt to camper homes and had two different drop zones they lived and worked at depending on season and how busy they where. A few of them retired early, sold their business and never stopped touring working part-time

Commen sense, you do not stay during the burning season, and for me, it is to cold up north to live during the coldest months. Isaan is great during the dry season, until the burning season starts, and then off to a beach destination/Island. North is best at the end of the rain season for a few months while it is still humid and green, and the hot season is best spent in Northern Europe.
