  1. depends on what you might want to bring with you .Personal items and valuable antiques , high quality furniture .Some things ie things you have collected over may years and are irreplaceable .  Generally it's not worth it apart from aforementioned .

I brought in a 40ft container from France last year and was lucky before the container/shipping rates went sky high ! I had a good agent but still had to go to Bangkok and deal with documents thro the agent .    Problem for me was that with limited time to sell items when my property sold ,I found people wanted things for nothing so it was either give things away at knock down prices or bite the bullet and ship it here .     I wasn't prepared to loose both ways ie sell at a big loss only to have to pay out again here .

So it depends on what you have and value .    Certainly leave the electronic/electrical stuff behind and also only bring lightweight clothing .

The food is very dirty here unlike in Europe.

Before covid I used to get food poisoning every 3 months eating out.

Besides that I don't have any other complaints.

    People have in general retired to Thailand because ;

    A) inclement weather

    B) Ease of long stay visa

    C) It was very cheap

    D) Easy going lifestyle

    E) Availability of much younger , attractive women / boys / in betweeners.

At best only about 50% of the above now holds true and with the present government entrenched , things will only get worse.

Yes many of you will still be happy and content , but the country is going backwards in almost every conceivable sense.

Citizens cannot even comment on the biggest problem going forward , the strangling of any form of democracy , the future aint bright !

    agree 100%

  3. I already posted a thread about this as to when/where/how to obtain a mrna Covid booster (preferably Pfizer / Moderna / Astra Zenica) as it is now absolutely necessary for my age group (70)  to get one and am looking at Jan/Feb even if paid for .

I have not seen /heard anything about availability yet ??

  4. I just read the latest news by the Ministry of Public Health :_

Quote: Ministry of Public Health is planning to provide a fourth booster shot of Covid-19 vaccines for eligible Thai citizens in 2022 following the gradual arrival of more vaccines, according to Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.  Unquote

This again smacks of discrimination against foreigners who live here .   We all know the efficacy of current vaccines diminishes with time and the current approach is to get a 3rd booster some 6 months after the the first double jab .   The UK is actively persuing this policy now .   I wrote a post on here asking if there was any information on what/where/when one might obtain a 3rd Pfizer booster shot ( or even any other mRNA vaccine - NOT sinovac or sinopharm ).     No replies to date .

One has to beg the question "  is the government / ministry of public health even remotely interested in or even considered the 3rd booster for expats /foreigners whom are residing here "  .    Seems NOT !

Still looking for the real Millionaires and not the two week type it appears.

Alas still resting on past laurels.  Time to regroup and re-brand.  Lets call it Thailand 5.0 where we want folks who will buy up the empty condos, work for a pittance while paying taxes, and yet already be true millionaires and get those free visas.  Does someone see any issues......rhetorical question.

Thailand is stuck in the past while other countries around her move forward into the 22nd century.

In one study of SE Asian countries and which ones will be the most prolific and advanced in 20 years time ,  Thailand did not make the top 5 !     Even Myanmar was mooted as having huge potential once it gets over the present crisis .

Eventually, perhaps, Thailand Immigration will go fully IT and devise a form that asks questions like, "have you applied for a ...............Visa before and if so what is the number of your Visa.  This, together with your full name should immediately log you on and all you have to do is go through (in the majority of cases) a YES/NO questionaire, then produce an updated bank statement to support the application.  90% of the questions could be answered this way and submitted online.  Not only would this save 1,000s of trees, but would reduce the cost of staff.  Oh, sorry this is Thailand!

wishful thinking !  whatever form Thai Immigration introduce you can be sure it will dig deep into your personal details and finances -  remember they only want your money !

I guess no pfizer since noone answers or did you find information

Nope, no replies to date so I guess I'll just sit on the fence and wait out Jan/Feb when hopefully vaccines will be more plentiful .

  8. Anybody know how/when/where will it be possible to obtain a Pfizer Covid booster shot ( 3rd dose ) .   Consensus of opinion deems it necessary to get a 3rd dose as protection from 2 doses slowly wanes and a 3rd shot gives maximum protection .   I would like to get a booster shot Jan/Feb next year .
