  1. I had my International Certificate of Vaccination with me at my 2nd jab and requested it be completed correctly by Medpark Hospital , which they kindly did .    So as well as my other vaccinations ( Yellow Fever / Hep A,Hep B , Typhoid, Tetanus ,etc) I now have the Covid-19 vaccinations in an Internationally recognized document (WHO ) !!!

As a previous ships master and onboard doctor I am well versed in what documents I had to carry travelling around the world !!!2000747250_InternationalCertificateofVaccination.thumb.jpeg.bb0ffda64c7bbd0aafbeca725f5beb7e.jpeg

    Interesting.

I've planted palm trees around the perimeter of the property.

I'm glad there not to close to the house After what you've mentioned.

They sure set of the backyard pool area!

one can't dig the stump or roots out - they are really hard !!  I couldn't believe how far the roots had spread - under boundary walls and into the neighbours !   I never want to see another palm tree within ten barge pole lengths of my property .

When I lived near there, I watched them work for many months building this elaborate and expensive storm runoff T-junction. There was a large underground concrete drain enclosure bunker taking all the water from beach road and from the street adjoining it at this T intersection.

The overflowing manhole cover in the middle of the intersection indicates a blockage to the enclosure from the intersecting street storm drain.  The pressure must have worked around the underground side of the costly structure, washing it away.

So glad I don't have to put up with months of construction again and traffic jams, but feel sorry for those that will be impacted by this result of poor engineering and construction.

yes, it wasn't so long ago that this "T" junction had a huge construction job done with piling to hold back the road while major works/large piping installed .   I can only surmise that the construction and reinforcement was sub standard with insufficient reinforced concrete and piling to stop it shifting !!!   Bet the contractor is long gone and no guarantee ?  never mind , still many contented overseers with many brown envelopes

  4. Anyone know if the window security rollers are available here like they fit in Spain/France .  Other than that maybe the security bars / grills could be nicely patterned ones , multi folding type on the inside so a) no problem in escape if a fire b) removes the unsightly look from outside and not a permanent fixed visible feature c) can easily be opened/closed by occupier from inside d)  less maintenance inside  e) easier to clean windows

  5. As regards to planting trees for shade - absolutely do NOT plant palm trees within 10 mtrs of your house !!  I just spent 10,000 baht and the hire of a 5t kubota to get rid the massive root spread that was going under the foundations , into the concrete and strangling the septic on the house I bought to renovate !!   The're useless anyway - all the palms at the top get in your gutters and drop off to make a mess !

  6. If tiling inside (or marble) always put half a tile up around the inside edge !  makes cleaning and mopping out much easier and no marks on the walls .

Thai's have a habit of either not aligning the toilet drain properly with the pipe or fail to install the proper seal between both ! I have seen them just caulk up around the toilet base thinking that would be watertight !!!  Result - blocked toilet / bad smells !! Watch this.

Another issue is with tiling - many amateur builders don't use tile spacers and just stick the tiles edge to edge - completely useless if there is the slightest subsidence or movement as the new house settles - the tiles will crack .  Ensure you you use tile spacers and grout.

Yes it is low quality,  thats why the world, CDC, WHO, FDA and other agencies  and countries do not use it or buy it or recommend  it, because  its low quality.   So much Chinese  goods are made without quality in mind.  Most are made to get the money then not care how long the product last.  If its not low quality  then why is the whole world treating it as such?

and why does scientific data show that it is ineffective ( one dose anyway) against the Delta variant !   So why is Thailand scurrying to find / order alternative recognised vaccines ?  If it's so good ,why then don't we simply accept and use Sinovac ?

If you pay by card it goes back to your account but if you pay by C.O.D. it goes to your Lazada wallet .... which is a pain in the ass.

Also if you pay by bank transfer (payserve) then if the order is cancelled by Lazada ,the refund goes into your Lazada Wallet but to get that money one has to contact Lazada Customer Service to verify ones ID and the order , then they send you an email to complete / return in order to have the money refunded to your bank account .  Bit of a pain but never never lost any monies and generally good service ( which is not what I hear about Shopee ! )

Hazard light was on, watch the clip again.

The accord driver was obviously half sleeping and high on drugs.

Victim was unlucky, Thai elevated expressways are very dangerous to stop.

Yes,I know - coming back from Phuket my pick-up pulley wheel shattered on the bridge , no power steering and just about every warning light came on - ABS etc - we came to a sudden stop in the rush hour ! S___ happens !

It was never promised from what I read when it comes to the Pfizer majority of it whatever is left after the government leaders VIP get their shot it was to go to all the front line workers that would start with those in Bangkok I think there was a article yesterday that front line workers in other provinces would be getting it in the next few days whether there will be any left for expats is unknown. It has also been reported that U.S. donated another 2 million doses Pfizer to arrived in a few months?  Then you got another story the Thai government has procured another 30 million doses Pfizer beginning of the year hope that story isn't more smoke?  Meantime I wonder what is going on with the Moderna?

Moderna already made a public statement a while ago that all its production/allocation for this year is already made and scheduled so I think next year before any new allocations are made .

I also had a similar experience to Robbie63 at MedPark hospital yesterday - although wasn't treated with quite the same amount of VIP treatment.    I am certainly not complaining - absolutely, the opposite.   Considering the number of people they are dealing with, it was extremely well organised.    On my return home yesterday, I sent them a 'thank you' email and I'll be seeing them again in 3 weeks time for my 2nd jab - all being well.

Regarding the gap between vaccines - in the US, a 3 week gap is also the 'norm'.

    I wish everyone well.

Likewise , I was there yesterday and impressed by the arrangements for over 60's - separate queue , straight in , do the registration and directly to the booth for my 1st Pfizer jab .  I get the feeling that the public and even officials are shying away from Sinovac - am not really surprised . Top marks for MedPark Hospital !

  12. I have my appointment at MedPark on the 14th (3 days time)  and I want the Pfizer vaccine .  It was mentioned that someone received a date for a second Pfizer jab three weeks later .    Doing my research it can be more beneficial to receive the AZ vaccine as a second dose after four weeks .     I was wondering if this was mentioned or requested by anyone and the Hospitals reply ??

    so 14m x 3 m slab is 42 m sq

at 4", or 100mm thick is 4.2 cubes of concrete

At 6" or 150mm thick, is 6.3 cubes

At 1,800 baht a cube means concrete is 7,560 baht, or 11,340 baht

If 4 " then possibly some reinforcing mesh or bars, depending on the ground ( firm undisturbed, or infilled )

    6" can miss the reinforcing

I have 4" drives and slabs, with no reinforcing, and have loaded concrete trucks drive over them with no bother

Time to lay ( depending on the ground) 3 men one day to shutter and pour, one man next day to strip shutter

So labour maybe 2,00 baht ?

A container is a spread load, so weight is distributed across the slab, rather than point loaded, so less pressure on slab

sorry but ANY container has a 4 point load !!  I should know as carried millions around the globe !  On ships they are staked with interlocks sometimes 6,8,10 high ( you must have seen the high stacks on deck of container ships ) The corners take the load are made to support others.

I already registered, and have appointment, with MedPark.

I know people who have successfully registered for Bang Sue  -  and received an appointment notification within 3/4 days.

I am also registered with MedPark and immediately received confirmation for free Astra Zenica on 14th August.  They will supply documentation and a date for the 2nd jab . I am 70 and just hope that they don't send a notice of cancellation or something or get there and turned away .   Others have said MedPark very organised ! No idea if the site is still open for registration but am sure Pattaya will be getting vaccines shortly ??
