Photo of tourist at Thai temple sparks online debate
CanadaSam replied to snoop1130's topic in Chiang Mai News
Lately I've been annoyed at AN using pictures that have nothing at all to do with the topic! Haven't mentioned it till now, but keep thinking, does AN think it's readers are all small children that need a picture, any picture, to be interested in a news story? -
Major Casino Firms Eye Investment in Thailand's New Complex
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
That is a given, and something that can not be avoided. But my point was to keep these casinos far away from well populated areas to: 1- Avoid problems of additional traffic in big cities, and, 2- Remove easy access to large local populations in the big cities who will surely lose their life savings in these places, and, 3- Create many additional jobs for locals and Thais from other poorer areas of Thailand, not only in the casinos, but in the many businesses that will pop up nearby, like hotels, restaurants, shops, etc. -
Finding a short term house for my wife's recovery
CanadaSam replied to whophant's topic in Chiang Mai
Totally agree with Denim. My advice is, rent a mobike for very cheap, drive around local areas that you like, and find the signs on the houses for rent, and give them an offer. Also ask around neighborhoods which you feel you like, at shops or even residents, you may be pleasantly surprised at what you find. -
Visa-free entry for Chinese nationals has many consequences
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This is so old it's getting moss growing on it. Show me one recent picture of this, and I'll change my views on Indians in Thailand. I'm much more concerned about Kuwaiti's at the moment, disrupting life in LOS. -
Simple answer: Yes.

Major Casino Firms Eye Investment in Thailand's New Complex

An IDEAL opportunity to uplift some of the low income and less populated areas of Thailand IMO, I sincerely hope that the gov't sticks to their guns and chooses the site(s) and does not allow the operators to choose, or we'll have more traffic nightmares and all sorts of problems in already well populated locations, where the casinos will wish to be (for easy access to customers). -

Just the beginning of the end for the "kingdom" due to moronic policies of letting every Mohammed, Islam, and Afza into the country who eventually took over the place! -

Phuket hotel and police accused of covering up fatal electrocution

Hope the anti-corruption guys are instructed to take this case ASAP by higher ups. -
Same. Use for all things normally charged by USB cable. Never seen one for a laptop (different voltage, probably much higher amperage than magnetic connections can supply).

Because putting it in a speed contest makes it animal cruelty? 1- Almost all mammals can sense human emotions, so in this setting, they would sense the shearer's anxiety, and apprehension, etc. prior to even beginning. 2- Racing to shear makes for a lot more nicks and abrasions than under normal circumstances, causing unnecessary pain and suffering to the animal.

I strongly dislike posts where the OP feels the need to post to every single reply, and the entire thread is dominated by his already expressed opinion, many times over. Blocked. -
British tourist missing after trip to Bangkok found safe in Finland
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
With perhaps million of baht spent searching for this foolish child, along with countless hours of time and effort spent looking by various officials in various countries, one would think there would be a law which he could be charged with, to teach this kid a lesson?- 101 replies

Man Faints and Falls to His Death After Encounter with Ladyboy
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Hope I don't get into trouble for this, but these pictures, which I assume have nothing to do with the actual story, are really confusing to me! IF they were both wearing life-vests, for knee deep water, that would be quite strange! -
Nightclub owner denies attempted rape, claims victim wanted sex
CanadaSam replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
As the report does not mention that the guy was not arrested or charged for either the assault or the videos, it can be assumed that he is indeed "influential" with police, as most club owners are, out of necessity, and he is walking around scot-free. -
I think the OP wants to know whether or not she should inform the officer that she is staying with her boyfriend, or lie and tell them she is staying at hotels and has nobody in the states? I would like to know the answer to that question as well. To the OP, my personal advice would be to tell them the truth, give your phone number to her, along with a copy of your passport, address, and long-term visa in Thailand also, to verify what she tells them.

Question about a transit in BKK.
CanadaSam replied to PhoSai's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I wouldn't worry about it too much, you are not entering Thailand, so you are not by-passing your black-list. In case of the unlikely event that Thai Air causes you problems, just remember the golden rule in Thailand, be polite, find an immigration officer who speaks English and extremely politely tell them of-course you're sorry about the black-list, but as you are not trying to enter the country at all, perhaps he could help by having a word with the airline staff?
