Western Union better than “Wise”
CanadaSam replied to Everyman's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I can't imagine anybody choosing WU over Wise, WU uses the lousiest exchange rates, and then charges high fees on top! -
Any good company to exterminate Small Cockroaches appearing every 2 days
CanadaSam replied to DCXMX's topic in General Topics
Agree with worgeordie you have a very minor problem which can easily be fixed with drain covers and pouring of bleach down the drains every couple of weeks. I would only add that the clothes washing bleach available in stores is not strong enough, you would need clorox or equivalent, something a little stronger which will also clean your drains for you. -
Arrest Warrant Issued for Indian Man For Assaulting 14-Year-Old Girl
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I have a problem with people like you who HOG the entire post with nonsensical back and forth arguments with another member, forcing us to sift through all your BS trying to find the actual details and intelligent replies that we are actually interested in, yes. -

Thai man walks over 200km to hospital for daughter’s treatment
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Wow, if ever I heard of somebody deserving, this guy is IT! Would love to contribute, any idea how or where? A search for "Nopparat Rescue Foundation in Chiang Mai" comes up with nothing! -
I find the facility to search for the cheapest dates, a month or even a year at a time, very helpful on SkyScanner and also Kiwi.com Amazing deals, if your travel dates are flexible!

Reduce taxation by gifting.
CanadaSam replied to phetphet's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Sorry, I should have explained that I have numerous sources of income abroad, including governmental and private, and it's cumbersome to deal with my banks abroad to transfer funds, each has their own systems and at my age, it's difficult for me, so I just permanently channeled them all to my Wise account, where I find it extremely easy to transfer between currencies, and also to transfer to anybody anywhere, with minimal input, including to myself (my Thai bank accounts) whenever I wish. -
Reduce taxation by gifting.
CanadaSam replied to phetphet's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
This is exactly why I use WISE! ALL foreign funds, private or otherwise, go into my Wise account, and I then choose where to send it, and to whom, whenever it's convenient for me. In your case, you would send it directly to your daughter, so it would not even show up as "your" income in Thailand, so non-taxable! -
Italian Tourist Locked in Office Over Visa Refund Dispute
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Another post with bickering members deflecting from the topic. It's NOT about whether or not to use an agent, it's about ILLEGAL activities by THIS stupid agent, who is now in hot water. Kudo's to the cops for getting there quick, freeing the guy, and also pressing charges against the agent, hope they get a long jail term for doing this to a customer. -
You do own a key or some type? Walk alongside the offender, and use it. Fastest way to solve the problem, doubt if they will do it again.

How likely is another military coup in Thailand 2024 ?
CanadaSam replied to CLW's topic in Political Soapbox
Won't happen. The generals are not blind, and saw what happened only a few weeks ago in Bangladesh. The army/police refused to shoot at their own people, and the gov't had to run with tails between legs. I think the people are at a breaking point now, they will object en masse, and the authorities will refuse to kill their own people. -
From the pictures, it looks like your driveway is in much better shape than many of the roads in LOS! Dunno why you want to "fix" it, looks perfect for the job of driving up and down it!

Pattaya City Planning to Make Improvements to Iconic Pattaya Sign
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Is that about 3 MILLION per letter? It's a bit of plastic in front of some tubelights!!!! I'd do the whole job for 300,000 not 22 Million, and still have money to spend a few weeks partying!!!! -

Temu is not well run. If you click on the thousands of ads they show on my mobile phone, it takes you to a page to simply register and sign in, NOT the product page, infuriating! I tried a couple of weeks ago to actually register and searched for 55 inch TV. Got everything EXCEPT TV's! Weird!!! And NO C.O.D. that I could find! Gave up.

Too many tell-tale signs of extortion in this story: 8 to 9 months delay in reporting the crime, possibly money had dried up or not enough to stay quiet any longer? Mother when discussing with the alleged rapist "declined" an abortion? What possible reason could a mum have for forcing a raped 14 year old girl to give birth to the rapist's child? (Other than a source of life-long funds from the Indian to take care of the child). No report of any screams or scuffle at a party where presumably there were many within earshot. Anyway, very sad that a 14 year old got pregnant, perhaps through rape, and I hope the authorities find out the true story regarding this sordid affair.

What is the current cost of 1baht jewellery in Thailand?
CanadaSam replied to Issanraider's topic in General Topics
The first few replies are for pure gold, which is almost worthless in Thailand. ALL gold jewelry here, and even coins, bars, etc., are at 22 karat, which is around 96.5% gold. harryviking has the price correct, for the most useful caratage of gold here, as it is bought, sold, pawned, very easily everywhere, and the most appreciated by women here, who would not understand pure 24k and be frustrated by the lack of shops which would trade in it. -
Bicycle lights during daytime riding - Yes or No?
CanadaSam replied to Chomper Higgot's topic in Cycling in Thailand
This is Thailand! I keep my CAR parking lights on even during daytime! Find it stops a lot of the people that normally would signal and just turn into my lane without caring about me driving past in the fast lane! Anything to be safer on these wild west streets! -
