Pre-paid Credit Card
CanadaSam replied to connda's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
For those asking about the difference between credit and debit cards, in many countries you can not rent a car without a credit card, they do not accept debit cards. That's only one difference, but a major one for me, as I prefer to rent a car at whichever airport I land in. -
It is not. GOMO sims are normally "no expiry" and valid for at least a year. Unfortunately, in my experience in Thailand, AIS has the fastest speed of all networks.

Thanks, Bradiston, please explain, I thought both meant Mega Bytes Per Second, or am I wrong?
-
Can you please tell us what is the 4G+ router you have, or show us a picture maybe? 50 MBPS is quite good enough for most people!

EMS from other countries always worked well for me! Never tried it in Thailand, and guess I never will, after reading your post!

Dutch Tourist Hurls Objects at Udon Thani Café Staff Over Change Dispute
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Initially, I thought this was a fairly minor matter, until I watched the video! This jerk threw a heavy FAN at one of the staff which just barely missed her head! This was not mentioned in the intial report, only ashtrays! The floor-standing fan, IMO, could easily be attempted murder, and I hope they throw the book at this extremely dangerous animal. -
Get an Ais GOMO sim, valid for a year, 99 baht. You also get 10 GB high speed data and some calling free included.

It seems to be an airbnb situation, and personally I would not rent anything long term anywhere without looking at it first. OP, my suggestion is get a hotel for the first few days, walk around the area(s) you would like to be in, chances are you will find exactly what you are looking for, at a reasonable price.

Yes.

Mods, I BEG you, please make a rule that you need to wait at least an hour or two before posts! So tired of having interesting threads hijacked by one guy who goes on and on and on about his fantasy experiences!

90+ percent of sim routers sold are 4G (although some are advertised as 5G, they are not) and my personal experience is maximum 15 MBPS speed possible on 4G routers. Recently bought a 5G router at a reputable shop, and got 100+ MBPS from day 1.

Young Bangkok Woman Arrested Over Pension Fraud Scheme
CanadaSam replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Confusing read. I interpret it as she went across the border for a job. Got caught with a scammer network that forced her to make these phonecalls and scam Thai's. Is so, shouldn't the authorities be trying to shut down the scammer gang? Aren't they the ones that took all the money? If she had the millions, why would she be living in a lousy room with old fan? I dunno, just plain confused. -
Pim's Airport Taxi. Meets you with large sign with your name on it. Camry 1100, Fortuner 1300. Good drivers. Recommend the Fortuner because of luxury and rear a/c. +66 81 170 7247 Same number for WhatsApp.

Porked & busted: Thai woman nabbed for telling ‘pork’ pies 208 times
CanadaSam replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
I really don't see a youngish girl her age being able to pay 1.6 million to anybody. Feel bad for her actually. Unfortunately, in the very near future, using cash will be practically impossible as Thailand races to be the first country with all online monetary transactions. -
Sri Lankan Man Arrested in Wichit for Illegally Constructing House
CanadaSam replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I agree with Foxx, if this was the house he was building, with tilting floors and the worst possible finishing on the walls, it could not have been for somebody else, probably himself! -
Obsession with timing in Thailand really irritates me, what possible reason(s) could the gov't have to dictate at what time people decide to do anything? Creating laws to do with noise disturbance is ok, but if I feel like throwing a bull or whatever other strange stuff they do here, at say 9:57 am, I'm breaking the law?

TV fools most people into thinking court cases are the way to go for justice. It is not. It starts with huge fees to the lawyer, possibly ends in a court paper victory for you, and then begins the task of trying to collect the payment, which rarely succeeds. So you are often out the original money, plus legal fees, and associated costs of attending all the hearings etc., putting you far deeper in the hole. I advise immediately selling the place, even at a loss, if you don't want to look at double glazing and other measures to lower outside noise.
