Can we still afford to shop at Thai supermarkets?
Eloquent pilgrim replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Absolutely, if you want to eat cheddar in Thailand, it has to be Mainland Vintage, matured for 24 months; or. of course, when you can find it (Villa Market - sometimes) Mainland Epicure, matured for 36 months. It’s more expensive but worth it for the extra strength. -

Not sure why the quote you are replying to, is attributed to me, I certainly didn't say it, those are the words of Lacessit ..... not really important, but strange how that happened -

I make my own spaghetti from durum wheat flour, and I only eat goat’s milk yogurt. Fortunately we keep a Tibetan milking goat in our garden and she has bountiful teats …. fussy eater, moi ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
I see the Russian military have reverted to type, long range shelling and bombing of residential housing, schools, hospitals, nuclear power plants, nurseries; you name it, they’re flattening it. Cluster bombs, cruise missiles, vacuum bombs, war crimes en masse. They don’t really have much choice I guess, because their soldiers won’t get out of their armoured vehicles and fight the brave Ukrainian freedom fighters.

Thanks for your very helpful comment, I’ll jump in the car and drive up and get some, I’m only 997 kilometres away; and I only eat Haas avocados, which are not grown in Thailand. And are McVities digestive biscuits in season in Chiang Rai ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ -
Can we still afford to shop at Thai supermarkets?

Rather smug, condescending and unfair comment; I have lived here with my Thai wife for 7 years, and we shop mostly in local markets; however, I sometimes go to supermarkets, because I still like to eat some strawberries, raspberries, parmesan cheese, blueberries, avocados, beetroot and occasional packet of McVitie’s digestives. This does not mean that I have not embraced the culture of Thailand, and your suggestion that anyone that has not become as “Thai” as you pretentiously seem to think that you have, should leave the country. Incidentally, I have many Thai friends in London, who eat Thai food almost exclusively there, but it has never occurred to me to suggest they go home if that’s what they want to eat. -
Why are you finding it so difficult to understand that I cannot answer a statement, I can only answer a question. Placing a forward slash and the word question after the word statement, does not, and never will, turn a statement into a question. Is that clear enough for you ?? Are you Russian by any chance ??

I cannot articulate my contempt for this man, but please, if you can, make a donation to the Ukrainian Red Cross. They are an accredited charity working with local organisations in Ukraine. They are in desperate need of medical and humanitarian supplies to help the Ukrainian victims of this atrocious war. Any amount you can afford will be both helpful and greatly appreciated. Thanking you in advance for your kindness ???????????????????? ✌️✌️ https://donate.redcrossredcrescent.org/ua/donate/~my-donation?_cv=1

Are we now feeling the effects of Ukraine's situation in Asia?
Eloquent pilgrim replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Ha ha ha .... what utter nonsense -
There is a member on this forum ‘connda’ who has just posted a laughing emoji on my comment about Russian tanks and troops rolling into Ukraine; today is a very dark day for Europe, and indeed for the whole world, quite how anyone can find anything funny about it is completely beyond my comprehension. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you cannot see the difference between supporting the sovereign status of an Independent country, and supporting separatist rebels within that country, with the intention of facilitating a military invasion, then a recalibration of your moral compass is long overdue; however, as an obvious Putin apologist, that might be beyond your skill set ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Russian tanks and troops are rolling into the sovereign country of Ukraine as I write this. I pray for the Ukrainian people.

What a tragedy for this poor family; as if they were not already suffering enough hardships. RIP Suphan, I hope the little boy makes a full recovery. No details about how this happened, so blame apportioning can wait, but it doesn't look good for a pick up driver on his way to sort out a speeding offence.

Fortunately, the world has not witnessed a global war for more than 75 years. So why don't you enlighten us all on what the geopolitical ramifications might be nowadays, rather than simply criticising most westerners for allegedly living in “total ignorance” of any such consequences. The Russian annexation of Crimea in February and March of 2014 received massive worldwide media coverage, as has, since then, Russian military support for the separatist rebels in the eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk. So, to say that anyone will be standing flat-footed mouthing the words “We never saw that coming” is utterly absurd, and would indicate that your only agenda it to berate westerners en masse. The whole world has been fearing the possibility of a further Russian incursion into Ukraine’s sovereign territory. I look forward to reading the geopolitical landscape that you envisage as a consequence of a modern era global war. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
