  1. Never get angry with immigration officials, it will always prove to be counterproductive.
  2. “The man claimed that he was driving normally and as he was about to reach an intersection” …… Driving normally; something Thai minivan drivers are renowned for doing whilst asleep. RIP Lady … very sad
  3. A puerile, but hardly unpredictable response; for your own sanity, you should try to stop fretting about something that happened 7 years ago.
  4. Has he made up his mind yet as to what a biological woman is ?
  5. Balderdash. YouGov are renowned in the UK for achieving the result that whoever is paying wants. As for the result, it means nothing to me whatsoever, and is completely meaningless. Brexit happened 7 years ago, and a referendum on rejoining will not happen, however many tiresome polls like this are commissioned. It just gets recycled periodically by a few bedwetters that can’t accept a democratic vote that did not produce the result they wanted.
  6. Personally, I'm taking this survey with an enormous pinch of salt; despite its deliberately misleading title, YouGov, is nothing to do with the UK government, but is an independent company, co-founded by German born Stephan Shakespeare. Anyone prepared to pay, can commission a survey by this company, and in so doing, chose the demographic from which the survey is to be taken. Obviously by choosing the demographic it is easy to manipulate any poll to get the result you want. I cannot find any information about who commissioned this survey, or the demographic of those polled …. maybe someone else has seen that info. If the poll was taken, for example, around the country’s universities, I’m sure all the young bedwetters that wanted to remain in the EU, but were too busy on Instagram to go and vote, would facilitate the published numbers. I do know that is was published in the farcically named ‘Independent’ an extreme left wing, anti Brexit publication in the UK, that masquerades as a newspaper; so maybe they commissioned the poll … anyone know ?
  7. Completely off topic; the post is about bank interest rates.
  8. The second of the quotes that you have just attributed to me, I categorically did not say, please delete it.
  9. Don’t suppose you have any other profoundly edifying little gems like this one that you can share with us, do you ?
  10. No such issue for me, kept the same login details; they did send written confirmation to my UK address, but that was to be expected ... cheers
  11. Indeed, the interest rates in Thailand are a joke; in the UK at the present time, I am getting 5.20% with Santander in an easy access account (as many withdrawals and deposits as you want - interest calculated daily) If I am prepared to tie funds up for a year I can get 6.20% with NS&I
  12. Try telling that to Kathleen Stock, JK Rowling, Jenny Lindsay, Graham Linehan, or any of the many others that have received death threats for voicing their legally held opinion on trans ideology.
  13. Absolutely; corruption here, has, for many years, been the very fabric of the infrastructure, rather than the cancer on it, that is should be recognised as. I think however, that things are slowly changing; despite its faults, modern social media can be thanked for making the populace more aware, as can the spotlight being continually shone on different corruptions by the Move Forward Party …….. There is hope, where once there was nothing but despair.
  14. That should wipe the painted smile from her smug boat race.
  15. Better get the TMO to check; in case they ground it and then claim a fair catch ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  16. If you really need to ask this question, I strongly advise you to never go out unaccompanied ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  17. Okay, apologies for my sarcastic reply, but you did invite it to an extent. My comment that you replied to was only about iPhones and the annual upgrades. I did not mention Android phones nor draw any comparison to them, so I don’t know why you replied to me in the first place rather than make a yours a stand alone comment. Yet in the first line of your reply to me you introduce Samsung into the conversation saying how much better and smarter than iPhones they are. You then imply that for sticking with iPhones, I am a fanboy, unable to evaluate what is available on the market; remember that your comment was directed at me, and not a stand alone comment. And you let me know of course, that you have only stuck with Samsung because you are not a fanboy, but smart enough to make an evaluation of every product available when you upgrade …. oh, please. And you finished with a snide remark about a USB-C port, something I had made no mention of whatsoever in my original comment. Anyhow, on the upside, iPhones hold great residual value, especially here in Thailand, and with the phone still under warranty, you will be able to sell it for a great price and replace it with a Samsung S23Ultra, which is an excellent phone.
  18. Yet after about 10 years of being a Samsung fanboy, you decided to buy an iPhone 14 ProMax, and regretted it within a few months. That wasn’t a very sagacious piece of evaluation, or a smart way to shop was it ?
  19. I have been an iPhone user since the iPhone 4; personally, I think they are best phones on the market by some distance, but it is only opinion which is of course subjective. I upgraded last year from a 12 to a 14 pro, which is a fantastic device. However, I do think that the upgrading has slowed considerably since the X, and given how good the camera is on my 14, I am happy to sit it out for another year or two and wait for a more substantial reason to upgrade.
  20. So, it’s okay in your book for your “mate” to make nasty personal insults to people, but it’s way off topic if someone calls him out ….. it figures
  21. This is what you said in a comment on Monday at 09.52 “I have proven so with my own experience of receiving a Thai MC licence with a British DL with the A1, A2, AM, A 79(3) endorsements that I believe Trans' friend also has” The A1 endorsement entitles you to ride a motorcycle up to 125cc
  22. au contraire, the only person muddying the waters is yourself; by repeatedly claiming that you acquired a Thai motorcycle licence without the requisite endorsements on your UK licence, when nothing could be further from the truth.
  23. Absolutely, I agree; however, the OP is trying to find out if his friend can get a Thai motorcycle licence without the correct endorsements on his UK driving licence, prior to actually applying. The answer is officially no, but as you say, just rocking up at an office and giving it a go might work. Not at Cha-Am though.
  24. No, if you call them you don’t have to tell them that your licence only allows you to ride a 50cc motorcycle. My wife called and simply asked what endorsements / categories are needed on a UK driving licence to obtain a Thai motorcycle licence. She called the Cha-Am office and they were fully aware of the requisite endorsements; however, that’s not to say other offices or staff might not be so well informed.
