I found that learning Thai from a book doesn't help tonally but context allows Thais to understand. I used The Fundamentals of Thai Language (The Fundamentals of the Thai Language (Fifth Edition): Stuart Campbell, Chuan Shaweevongs: Amazon.com: Books) which is rather old now. I still don't get the tones right but people understand me.

An Enormous Usurpation’: Inside the Case Against Trump’s Tariffs

The more I read the more I think there are people who don't understand why trade deficits exist. A trade deficit is when we buy more (if we are in a rich, developed country) because we are richer than a country that is... not as rich. Also, having a larger population, of course this requires greater volume of purchases. The less rich country doesn't buy the same amount from the richer developed country because it is relatively poorer. The less rich country is not ripping off the richer country: it simply cannot afford to buy an equal amount. In simple terms, the USA buys $100 of goods from a less rich country because it has that $100 to spend. A less rich country may only have $25 to spend, so it just cannot afford to buy $100 worth of goods. It's not rocket science. -
China has trade with many countries. None has turned Communist. It would be like having trade with African countries and turning black. Ludicrous.

There is no hint she wants all his assets or even his imprisonment. The law is the law, and she may want to show that you can't go around kicking Thais like dogs any time you feel like it. -

Trump is all in on China. However, China controls much of the world's antimony. A critical mineral in producing bullets. I can't imagine how he is going to push China into a war. Trump: you want a war, you got it. But please may we buy antimony to make bullets to shoot you with? -

Just reading that the average price for a gallon of gas/petrol has declined 0.524USD. This will make American drivers rejoice that Donnie has achieved what no one else could. 3.155 USD a gallon is going to make people happy. -
The only way that America can compete with China is to lower US wages to 25% of what they are today. That way they can bring back the iPhone and other items that they make abroad today.

I admire Sethaput for being humble and independent. Took a course with him many years ago and he started off by saying, "You may not become an economist after this, but you will be able to read the Bangkok Post business section." 😆 -

The article is unclear on one point. It stated that people need an A grade to become a doctor but nowhere does it categorically state that coloured people are becoming doctors with a C grade. If they have A grades then what is the problem? -

Some Thais have told me the reason they will u-turn in front of oncoming cars is that (a) the onus is on the oncoming car to brake and (b) when someone drives into the back of your car it is their fault. -

I think the dumbing down of students is well overdue. Having Harvard in 4th position globally is not something to be proud of. Get them down to 120th. Can't have students think for themselves for god's sake. Whatever next?
