  1. Maybe if he has more dirt on her than a short comment that the soldier at the border was an opponent (nothing worse than that), then fine. But he isn't holding all the cards. In an election it is doubtful his party will have any seats left. The old dinosaur should retire.
  2. Diary of an Imperialist Chapter One Took the mem Sahib to see the slave auction today. How grateful those black savages were to have the chance to be slaves to a civilized country, what ho! Not for our slaves the chance to grow their own backward civilizations in Africa, but to learn English and learn that hard work under the sun is its own reward. Of course, they were happy for us to take their resources back to Blighty where it could be properly looked after. Her Imperial Majesty was pleased to receive the gold and jewels we acquired and is intent on decorating her royal head with huge diamonds that show the superiority of the empire. Such an honor for the negroes who work our plantations, don'cha know? Over the years we have educated these ignorant peasants to know how great Britain truly is and how fortunate they are to work our properties overseas for a lash and a meal. We even have one as an indoor butler. Met that chap Wilberforce in the club over brandies. He's one to watch, babbling on about the rights of the black man. If it were up to him they would be British, God forbid.
  3. I have heard the same thing.
  4. Now the name on everyone's lips is pickaxe mountain. Maybe it's the place that no one knows that is the real site?
  5. Looking at it from another point of view, it might mean that NATO ex-USA has other things like healthcare and education to spend money on, things those countries think are equally important for the future of their countries. Nonetheless, as the war machine needs money, war must always be imminent. No, it isn't fair that an always-on war machine like the USA spends more than others, but perhaps diplomatically preventing wars is as important as fighting them.
  6. Seems that the women are voting with their feet (or EV). However, bypassing laws by going to another state will eventually convince people to vote against anti-abortion politicians.
  7. I feel that when Hesketh invited the Ayatollah onto a group WhatsApp Iran strategy call it could have had an effect on where the centrifuges went to.
  8. Kind of a stupid topic. Nothing can MAKE you gay. It is like being colorblind. You are born with it and watching black and white videos won't make you colorblind.
  9. Modernization of the bureaucracy would help. Better transportation and infrastructure. Better education for people who will be the future workers and leaders. More manufacturing of hi-tech goods and services. Make things other countries want. Think ahead to what people will need in the future. A wish list that will never be granted.
  10. Hey Macarena. (Ay!) It's just an imaginary depiction. I am not sure anyone knows what she looked like.
  11. I am watching Murderbot at the moment. Season 1 doesn't end until July but it is an engrossing and amusing science fiction story about a "paranoid android" that I recommend. Read the book and both are almost the same. 'Nuff said. P.S. The SecBot (Security Bot) calls himself Murderbot because he "thinks" he is a killer. It doesn't mean he kills everyone he meets.
  12. Looks like the Fat Man sang too soon. Obi Wan says: "The need to boast is strong in this one." Mind you, Bush was no better with his Mission Accomplished announcement.
  13. HIV won't get transmitted if a condom is used. In fact, it isn't that easy to catch it unless one partner has a cut leading to infection through the blood. The kids of HIV parents sometimes don't want to reveal to their boyfriend/girlfriend that they were born with HIV, and therefore sometimes don't use condoms. It is an easily avoided situation. Very often, those infected with HIV also have another STD, so there may be telltale signs.
  14. If Kneecap sings in Gaelic, then the audience will not understand what they are saying anyway. Problem solved.
  15. Maybe EV manufacturers could add a comparison meter to the dashboard showing how many liters of fuel they would have used in an ICE vehicle. I think it is only when people can see the savings easily will they convince their friends.
  16. Wow. My American cousins are all descended from an Italian mother who married an American soldier. They could all be disappeared to El Salvador, eh?
  17. Murders in Thailand are still lower than in "civilized" countries like the USA. Thais used to tell me that murders here were eith within the same family or between gangs. I have never heard of a drive-by here but admittedly, gangs do hit someone accidentally. https://www.numbeo.com/crime/compare_countries_result.jsp?country1=Thailand&country2=United+States
  18. I hadn't realized that teacher licenses are divided by gender. I assumed you take an exam and if you pass you are a teacher. It's another issue if a school doesn't want to hire a teacher based on clothing.
  19. Personally, I have used the same plastic bag for five years. She Who Must Be Obeyed uses a cloth bag and has for many years. Just reuse them.
  20. She and her husband are good investors. He is a professional. If she bought or sold stock days before an announcement, it would be suspicious, but the article gives one example that "the Pelosis sold 5,000 Microsoft shares for an estimated $2.2 million — just months before the Federal Trade Commission opened an antitrust investigation into the company." Months, not weeks or days in advance. Professional investors are allowed to win.
  21. Another example of a foreigner who took a very strict diving test back in the west.
  22. First they want tourist money, then they don't. Weed has been illegal elsewhere for years, yet people still buy it. The legal way means taxing it - to the government's benefit.
  23. Some ordeal. Poor driver so shocked he had to take a video to watch later that evening.
