  1. Unfortunately, any Thai government would lose a lot of face if it were proven that the Thai police were incompetent or in the pay of a local dark forces. Moreover, the fact that the condemned are Burmese makes it more important to show that foreigners are bad, Thais are good.
  2. I read the article and it seems reasoned and factual. I think racism has been getting a free ride for too long. I don't know what the percentage of black people is in Scotland but having a voice in parliament would have been helpful to race relations. As for the law, it was passed legally by a majority of MSPs and is going to be no better or worse than the people who uphold it. I agree with many here that the definition of hate needs to be precise for the law to make sense.
  3. No calls for banning alcohol as there is for cannabis.
  4. Seems like there's a lot of things that cause violence and vehicular deaths like alcohol, Yaba, etc., but they can't be controlled.
  5. Good to know their god supports killing innocents. No point in Muslims saying theirs is a religion of peace now.
  6. French style urinals every 500 meters. Even women could use them.
  7. Brilliant. 1. Make casinos legal 2. Srettha's hotels to be a casinos 3. People gamble their money away 4. Land prices fall as debtors sell their land 5. Srettha and friends buy the cheap land and the circle starts again
  8. What a brave person. If he is assassinated I doubt there will be an investigation.
  9. I remember a satirical radio show in Bangkok called Black and White. They would play the Thai song then the western song it was ripped from. A few Carabao songs were included. I remember Ad telling an interviewer, "There are only 7 notes to choose, so it is possible the same notes are used." Or words to that effect.
  10. Goodness knows how anyone can run around in training with this heat. It just sucks the energy from you.
  11. I knew you would say that. https://climatecheck.com/risks/flood/coastal-flooding-subsidence-sea-level-rise
  12. Hotels take your passport and photocopy the picture page. Just cut out that step and give them a photocopy. Perhaps keep one copy for yourself.
  13. Part of the roadmap should include reciprocity. I have met Thais with houses in the UK. Land ownership here is never discussed. Naturalization here is another topic.
  14. Wrong way round. Subsidence happens when water rises. Never mind.
  15. I have no contention other than it is well-known that some Pacific islands are disappearing. Perhaps before you make up anything else, read this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level_rise_in_New_Zealand#:~:text=NZ Searise study findings 2022,-The results of&text=of ground levels.-,In some parts of Wellington%2C the land is subsiding by,100 year event in 2020. Subsidence and water rising go hand-in-hand.
  16. Five islands in the Pacific were already submerged by 2011, six more are on the way, being 20% under water at present. https://www.gviaustralia.com.au/blog/disappearing-land-5-pacific-islands/#:~:text=The last of the five,Islands searching for higher ground. https://www.france24.com/en/asia-pacific/20221124-pacific-islands-fight-for-existence-before-rising-sea-levels-swallow-them-up Some parts of Thailand are already being flooded: https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-08-11/bangkok-is-sinking-residents-warn-rising-seas-will-swallow-city/102559364 But I guess a smart guy like you already knew that.
  17. Weirdly, global warming was predicted as a trend. Oceans will rise, flooding Pacific islands and Bangkok. I guess no one will agree others were right until we are all dead.
  18. It seems that no one believes that Big Joke is never found guilty because he is innocent.
  19. I don't suppose signing treaties to link the criminal databases of countries is on the cards. For an immigration officer to have access to incoming tourists' criminality after a swipe of the passport could be useful.
  20. Counterfeiting has been going on for centuries. People used to wait at the docks in America to get the latest Charles Dickens novel then produce counterfeit copies. It does go down as laws become stronger.
