  1. So, after the unemploymemt caused by COVID, people found a way to make money using a natural plant that is not addictive. Clearly, there are drug lords who are very happy to hear they can control cannabis once again. I just wonder what the government will do to increase employment.
  2. It seems people are increasingly found guilty without entering a court of law.
  3. I remember that Hillary had 3 million more votes than the Orange One, but that didn't count.
  4. I send them proof of address in Thailand, not the UK. It seems to satisfy them. The evidence is signed by my lawyer in English. It included my bank statement and a letter from my Singapore Bank. Had the account over 40 years and been in Thailand over 36 years. They always write to my Thai address if they need to contact me. If Halifax ever decides to close the account, I will get them to send the money to a Thai bank.
  5. Halifax send me mail regularly. They asked me to confirm my address a few times and I did. I could bring all the money to Thailand but the interest here is cr*p.
  6. If only America wasn't a two party system, at least people would have more choice. Like in a democracy.
  7. This doesn't sound right. The government just invited Microsoft to set up a data center here. I can't imagine how they showed Microsoft what a great IT hub we are.
  8. I remember Chamlong Srimuang was the governor who prevented thigh high floods by having workers clean up the drainage system in advance. His "green ants" as he called them were remarkably successful. Why can't governor's follow his example instead of being surprised every year?
  9. Hard to say as the eu is a group of countries, and they have promised €77.1 billion in financial aid, European Union institutions are the largest aid donors to Ukraine. Next comes the USA, a group of states, with €69.5 billion.
  10. I can recommend photography wherever you go. Even the camera on your phone will do. I find it's the taking of photographs I like even if I delete most later.
  11. 35 or so years ago a car magazine conducted a survey of efficient transportation with which to enter London. Not much has changed. The most environmentally friendly and sustainable ways of travelling are walking, cycling and rail. Cars are the worst but EVs could improve that. Vehicles emit the following grams per kilometre travelled: • Medium-sized petrol car = 192g. • Medium-sized diesel car =171g. • Bus = 105g. • Motorcycle = 103g. • Medium electric vehicle = 53g. https://www.engineerlive.com/content/what-s-greenest-form-transport
  12. 0.04% is correct. You don't need to guess. Google is your friend.
  13. I think you understand the danger. Like the domino effect expected following the invasion of South Vietnam, it looks necessary to defend Poland's - and in fact Europe's - eastern flank through military aid to Ukraine or the doors will be opened for further encroachment. And for America and Europe to hold back Russia while a potential front opens at Taiwan would cost more in the long term.
  14. Ordinary Thai women are not taught what to do in such circumstances. Take a video, call the police and tell them where he got off the bus (of it he i still there).
  15. Funny you should say that. Of course you are right. We do need some carbon dioxide to survive. But what percent of the air should carbon dioxide be? And what happens if the amount becomes larger than that? Apparently, carbon dioxide is (and should be) just a tiny teeny 0.04% of air. I guess if it exceeds that, we could be in trouble as air would not sustain life. Same for nitrogen, seems important but too much would be dangerous.
  16. My friends and I have all had issues with workers. It often stems from not being willing to search more and seek recommendations. I wouldn't praise HomePro just because they are there. For the same reason that in India I will ask directions from at least three people, in Thailand I would ask at least three friends to recommend workers and ask questions about quality first.
  17. I thought this was common knowledge. There's even a Wikipedia page all about it. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_intoxication#:~:text=Excess of body water may,the death of a human.
  18. It would be interesting to know, should implants become openly available, how much they would cost. In the US I can only guess it will be exorbitantly expensive and insurance companies might be put off paying for it if it doesn't lead to patients being able to pay their premiums.
  19. Presumably an associate membership will have less control or power than full membership.
  20. Wonder if the tax idea came up because they didn't realized they'd have to pay for the 10,000 Baht per person giveaway?
