Feuding Top Thai Cops Reinstated After Suspension Controversy

Backroom deals? Really? How about the complete lack of evidence? -
Funnily enough, I find using Google a better way of finding old posts on AN/TV than using the site's own search engine.

Does the USA really always get its man?

If it is true that Assange will plead guilty in an American court and will be sentenced to time served in the UK, then he didn't escape. Plus, I am not sure the Americans are trustworthy enough not to incarcerate him for another 20 years once he is on their soil. -
This is great news for press freedom and human rights. Like others, I am sceptical that the US will let him go once he is in their hands. Just in case anyone doesn't remember what he did, here is the video of an American helicopter killing civilians. https://www.nytimes.com/video/multimedia/1248069533084/collateral-murder.html

Ex-PM Abhisit: Modern Legal Reforms Crucial for Thailand’s Economy
Purdey replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The 10,000 baht giveaway will be spent in a few weeks. How does that help? An increase in the minimum wage will be passed on to consumers as higher prices. How will it help the national economy? Thailand remains last in Asian education so how will high technology companies justify investing here? The government needs long term strategies. -

The same trickery has always played a part in politics here. I see MF being split up and its members moving to other parties. -
Just taking the original post at face value, without adding opinion, it was a Bush Republican government that ignored the warning signs of 911 and Clinton's Democratic government that prevented more attacks. In addition, at the cost of stirring up a hornet's nest of AN approbation, it could be said that the Democratic government under Obama found Bin Laden while the Republicans did not.

Historically, vandalism seems to be a way of making a point. Throwing someone else's tea into Boston harbor or burning down the White House were seen as making a point. Defacing national icons during the french revolution also. In all cases, action was taken against vandals, as well as, no doubt, will take place now.

Yeah the digital wallet is the short, medium and long term plan because there is no other plan. Maybe allow foreigners to buy one rai of land for residential use will bring in some billions in cash but 75% of condo ownership? Oh but then the Chinese will own Thailand! Sacre Bleu. -

I didn't hear anything about NATO attacking Russia, just the other way around. Could happen but unlikely to. -
Is NATO Ready for War? An In-Depth Assessment of Defense and Deterrence

Does Russia still have sufficient professional soldiers to attack several countries at once? I assume they have to win in Ukraine first or find their armies struck in the back. -
Fox Poll Has President Biden Taking a Slight Lead Over Trump
Purdey replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Hilary won the popular vote with 3 million more votes than Trump. Biden received 7 million more of the popular vote. But you can win an election with 270 college votes and just 11 states (out of 50). (number of electors, total electors) California (55; 55) Texas (38; 93) Florida (29; 122) New York (29; 151) Illinois (20; 171) Pennsylvania (20; 191) Ohio (18; 209) Georgia (16; 225) Michigan (16; 241) North Carolina (15; 256) New Jersey (14; 270) 🙂 -
Classrooms in Louisiana Must All Display Ten Commandments
Purdey replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The Establishment Clause states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" thus preventing it from establishing a religion but the state of Louisiana isn't Congress. In the strictest reading, the Establishment Clause proscribes any adoption of an official religion by the federal government. Doesn't say anything about a state government. However, in a number of decisions, the Supreme Court held that because of the Fourteenth Amendment, the protections of religious freedom in the First Amendment are enforceable against state and local governments. While the U.S. Constitution does not mention God, nearly all state constitutions reference either God or the divine. It will be interesting to see what Louisiana does when other religious group claim their right to equality under the Constitution. Moreover, nearly every Christian is going to hell if you look at the 10 commandments from the perspective that Moses was a Jew.
