ok, look at it this way ... A single mum has two kids to bring up .... she borrows 30,000 baht from a loan shark for her motorbike to sell lottery tickets for 100 baht.

So you want to dob her in and take away her only income and then no home, no money to buy food for the kids, no bike as the loan shark will come and probably break her leg also.

all because you paid 0.63 cents too much.  ??

Do you get my meaning ......  ?    unless my logic is different from yours.

The price printed on the ticket is 80 Baht. Inflating this by 25% should not be allowed lMHO.

The lottery should be automated but continuing the current system benefits a certain few.

  2. On a similar note, my 1 year Non O / Thai wife visa from Sawannakhet says "enter before 6th June 2019. My border run 90 days finishes 27th May. I was planning to go and do a new border run to Kanchanaburi this weekend and then go and get a new 1 year Non O in Sawannakhet end of August.

Can you please confirm this is acceptable? (Their are no planned changes with having 400K here or the insurances)

    Thank you.

Sorry for being a bit vague - my sealer is at home in NZ, and I can't remember the name, but it was a common garden variety bought off Lazada for a couple of thousand baht about 5 years ago. It's still going strong today, altho not getting as much use as it once did.

For bags I just use the stock standard ones that vendors use - very cheap compared to the rolls, and thinner and easier to manage. Plenty of supplies in the supermarkets here (but, strangely, these types of bags are impossible to find in NZ, so I will be taking a large amount back with me).

Have you tried those new sealing bags which use a hand pump? Similar to the large ones used to store blankets and what-have-you.

Yes I may need to buy via Lazada again. I have been to verasu and they have a good one but it will only work with same brand bags which are expensive.

Thanks for your feedback on the bags. Much appreciated.

I went through several of these, from local stores, they were all cheaper models. In the end I bought one from an annex to Makro for 6,000 Baht, I wish I had done this in the first place rather than waste money on cheap models. I have had it for over 2 years now and it does a great job.

Thanks, yes I'm leaning towards a more expensive model from verasu if l cannot find a decent one for my price range.

What make is yours if you don't mind me asking?

Also where did you get your bags from?... I get mine from verasu but are expensive.

    Thanks again.

  5. Just binned our second vacuum sealer making it 2 units in 6 or 7 months both from lazada.

Anyone found a decent sealing machine for liquids and solid foods around 1500 Thb mark?

I am in BKK and would prefer to get hands-on feeling prior to purchase if possible.

    Many thanks in advance.

That’s got to be the middle of the low season. The restaurants and resorts will be mostly closed or running on skeletal staff. I wouldn’t expect too much, but it will be certainly peaceful.

I would do a lot of research and thinking before visiting at that time, visibility will be pretty bad for snorkeling, he might find some boats running, and it’s worth checking to find if the national park is even open. There is usually a little flurry of activity at that time, the university and european holidays, the southern resorts get a few visitors. Your nephew should a cheap bungalow and be amongst some budget backpackers.

I was there before last Songkran, the resorts were really dead, but there were a few people about in the early evening in Sala Dan, the main town. Friends who have resorts were saying there was a lack of long stayers this year, mostly French families who stayed for a week or two. (The French version of survivor was filmed in an island off Lanta).

Thank you for taking the time to reply and will bear in mind your feedback.

    Thanks again.

The real scam is that other places can sell cheaper because they pay less.

In a real country you buy the tickets as a vendor, all of them at the same price and everyone sells at the same price. Then they get a sales commission and a cut of the winnings of each ticket.

    So simple, so transparent.

But the whole thai lottery ticket benefits big resellers that rip off the small vendors ????

    Get rid of the middleman.

Very well said especially you last point.

About 15 yes ago the idea was floated to bring in lottery machines, Loxley was part of it and it could be done.

However, the plan was quickly kicked to the kerb by whoever.

Shouldn't need to commit suicide to get action or justice... Thailand is in a mess with Prayut at the helm.

About 20 yrs ago, my managers appt was burgled and the police wanted a fee and use of a company vehicle with fuel to investigate.

Any prime minister cannot and will not make a difference IMHO.

Rather than starting a new topic I thought I would resurrect an old one.

Looking for some advice on a nice hotel c2500 in April.  Any recommendations? Looked on TripAdvisor and Crown Lantana and Lantana Sand and Spa look good. Any thoughts on these or others please?

This is a romantic not family break ????

Thanks in advance, all recommendations appreciated.

    Hello Stament,

I have a nephew who has booked flights to Thailand in August 2019 and he is thinking about Koh Lanta (but no concrete plans yet)

May l ask how Koh Lanta was during your holiday?

He is late 20's and travelling with his gf and does enjoy snorkeling, kayaking etc.

Thank you for any feedback on Koh Lanta in general.

Ok I see you're in Bangkok...that transmitter has a large power 1000 kilowatts if I remember correctly....so you may be able to use a smaller antenna if you have a clear line of sight to the transmitter (ie no building blocking the signal)
Another thing is you are near the airports, there maybe interference from the radar equipment...so yes best to go with a large (largest you can find) rooftop antenna.

Cheers Johng, probably many high buildings in my line of sight so rooftop it is.

    Thanks.

To find your nearest transmitter you can use this.

    https:/dtvservicearea.nbtc.go.th/webpeople/

It will tell you the distance and compass bearing to point your antenna...the one thing it doesn't tell you is the size of antenna required...which depends upon distance and transmitter power...so if you are more than a couple of kilometres from the transmitter....then a large (longer than a meter) outdoor antenna would be recommended.

Thanks a lot Johng, its showing l am 18 kms away so l guess l will need a new rooftop antenna.

    Much appreciated.
