so a foreigner standing on the roadside turns down a couple of taxis and a red bus, do all the drivers then hang around waiting to see her next move?
Then proof of not calling uber must be shown to these drivers..
Does it really work like that??

Thought i would tag my experience of driving from BKK to Savannakhet and getting a Non O visa here as the OP may drive also.
- Left BKK 07.00am last Wednesday 17th with co-pilot (my wife), drove via Saraburi, Khorat, Yasothon to Mukdahan. Arrived at the friendship bridge at 17:00pm, the drive was not bad at all, although several very heavy thunderstorms slowed us considerably and I made a wrong turn costing 40 minutes. Only one police checkpoint on the way, however this was a rolling check of vehicles so just s snails pace through the checkpoint.
- Parked the truck at the bridge paying B500 for 2 nights, waited for the Officer to return to his desk for VOA, paid 35USD, but several dollar bills were refused as they had tiny knicks in the note. They will accept only bills in very good condition. Though into Loas and took B250 minivan to hotel arriving 18:30pm ish.
- We stayed at VIvanouk hotel, less than 50m from the "nightmarket" and stones throw from the river. Would stay there again.
- Up to the consulate at 09:00am Thursday, requested Multi Entry Non O visa:
* Passport with copies of ID page, Laos entry stamp with TM, Thai exit stamp.
* Copy of Marriage certificate (front and back on 2 sheets) and original which was returned.
* House book copy.
* Wife's ID copy.
* Non O form with photos and THB5K.
Out of the consulate before 10.00am
- Friday 14.00pm, picked up my visa within 10 minutes and back through into Thailand at 15:00pm (paid B300 from hotel to Consulate then to the border). Drove from Mukdahan back to BKK arriving at 01:30am. Again, one checkpoint but no hassle.
All in all, a thankfully non-eventful trip, I should add the Thai consulate staff were very polite and efficient.
Again, a thank you to Ubon Joe and others who passed advice on documents etc before i left BKK.
Regards,

Hello All,
We are leaving for a long road trip on Wednesday and I just noticed the coolant level on our Madza BT50 is under the minimum level on the expansion tank. It is not empty, about 1.5cm below the min level mark.
The engine is cold, so will it expand to correct level when the engine warms or should i go to the dealer today ASAP?
Thank you for any advice.
Best Regards,

1. Only a copy of your passport photo page will bee needed.
2. Two 3.5X4.5 cm photos for the visa application.
The open at 08:30 and accept applications until 11 am. Pickup the next afternoon at 1:30 PM.
Not sure it would be cheaper to get the visa at Lao embassy in Bangkok. I think the fees is the same.
Thanks Joe,
And is the wife required to be present?
-
Thank you All so much.
I shall go to the Thai Consulate in Savannakhet and apply for the Non O multi entry next Thursday and shall receive on Friday so as not to overstay as mine currently expires on Saturday.
Taking 5K and:
1. passport, entry card - original and copies.
2. photos,
3.Wifes ID signed copy,
4.wedding cert original and copies
5.house book and copy.
As i will drive from BKK on Wednesday, are the Thai Consulate opening times the same as Vientaine...08:00 until 1pm then pick up at 1pm next day?
Does my wife need to be present also?
Finally, i imagine it will be very crowded at the border so getting a Laos entry visa in BKK is better & cheaper than at the border?
Many, many thanks again.

Hello All,
My current permission to stay issued in Vientaine Laos based on Thai wife was extended in BKK and is due to expire on Saturday 20th May.
I have had the following in said order since returning to BKK mid 2015 after several years working overseas:
1. Vientaine Laos extension based on Thai wife.
2. Bangkok Non O visa based on Thai wife and having the 400K in the bank. This was valid for 1 year.
3. Vientaine Laos extension based on Thai wife.
4. Vientaine Laos extension based on Thai wife.
Am I eligible for another visa run to Laos or could I go to Savannakhet? I hold a British passport, however sadly I do not have a lot of funds here at present.
I have spent several hours searching here but I got confused, is a METV (Multi Entry Tourist Visa?) the type issued in Savannnakhet and needing 200K in the bank? If I went to Vientaine again, would I be refused/blacklisted?...given I have the above 3 in my passport.
Thank you for any feedback,
Best Regards,

Hello All,
Does anyone know where I can get cake flavoured vodka similar to the below? I have tried tops and foodland but couldn't see it. I am in BKK suburbs but would go downtown to get it if I knew where exactly
Thank you in advance,

Hello All,
I am holding my birthday party (at my home so no Dj) in early April and wish to have music that will appeal to all invitees ranging from Andy Williams, Nina Simone, Bowie, Rhianna, Adam and the Ants, Bruno Mars as well as some Thai songs.
Is their any way to make like a play list (like CD) rather than just keep searching on my pc for youtube during the gathering
Thank you in advance.

Thank you Joe,
I live here at my Thai wife's house, would some photos be enough for proof of residence also be included??.... I do have a copy of affirmation from the British embassy also, the original was used for my driving license.
Also, is it 60 days extension?.
Thank you again,

Hello All,
My wife and her mother (wheelchair user) are flying to Udon Thani tomorrow 15th Feb. Does anyone have contact info for a reliable, safe driver with transport who could take them one-way to Bang Chiang area? And expected price.
Many thanks in advance.

Hello All,
I checked my dash cam yesterday and found it had not been recording for 2 weeks or more. It is recording now, however, the time and date keeps resetting to 2012.
My question is that should I be involved in an accident, could the recording be invalid as time and date are clearly out of whack?
Thanks.

Is this the first time this has happened?,. Maybe someone can shed light on an earlier case and outcome.
Without the social media.
Thanks

I didn't say it was a rental.. it was an aside regarding insurance companies here. I edited that part as its not relevant in hindsight,,,, just my view of insurance companies here.

Did you manage to get the plakapong from Makro? I too tried the frozen cod from foodland and found it mushy when deep fried as someone else commented.
I am still trying to find a good batter mix (tried several recipes) and found the batter too heavy even after adding more cold soda.
Does anyone have a fail safe batter mix?
Cheers.
