  1. I tried McDonald's wifi, but it either didn't work (most of the time), or it was very slow.
  2. I think, I need a crash-course laptops and notebooks for dummies... Supposedly very similar, with the notebooks just a bit thinner and lighter? So, why are laptops much more expensive (3 or four times the price of a notebook)? Also, any opinion about the Fujitsu LifeBook A574/M?
  3. Actually, I'll need it for online meetings, and my android won't do for that purpose.
  4. Thanks. I will check out Fortune Town. My budget is less than 10,000 baht (if possible).
  5. Anyone have experience with the Lenovo IdeaPad 1i (15", Gen 7)?
  6. Great advice, thanks. I had an Acer laptop in the past. Will check out Lotus's (which branch) and BananaIT. (I don't know JIB.) How about MBK; a good place to buy a cheap laptop?
  7. I don't really care about the brand. I just want to use it for online apps like Zoom, Viper, Whatsapp, etc.
  8. Where to buy a new, cheap laptop in Bangkok?
  9. I had a very high opinion of the Chinese and their culture before I travelled to, and lived in mainland China. I still have respect for the traditional Chinese culture, say, in Hong Kong, or Taiwan. However, it is my impression that the Chinese on the mainland have changed, losing a lot of their culture, traditions, and moral codes, thanks to China's history since 1949.
  10. What other people, men and women, spit all over the place, thinking it is the most normal thing in the world?
  11. It's understandable on temple grounds where everyone is asked to wear long sleeves and pants. But on Sanam Luang? C'mon!
  12. Unbelievable! Only 100 years ago Thai women often didn't even wear tops! - Is Thailand copying "traditions" from the Ayatollahs, or Islamic State now? No wonder that Westerners more and more decide not to visit Thailand (again)...
  13. No harm done. Most Thais, even the highly educated ones, think/claim that (I am quoting what I heard) "all Burmese are thieves and dangerous"... (Again, none of this is my opinion.)
  14. LOL. That brings back memories. I had read so much about Japan and the Japanese as a kid that, almost 30 years ago, I was confident to leave my big heavy backpack at a post office for a day. Went back hours later with a story that I had 'forgotten it'... It was untouched, but moved to the staff area. I wouldn't ever do that in another country.
  15. That means nothing in Thailand. Crimes happen a stone's throw from police stations.
  16. Same for NZ and Oz. Too old to get a backpacker visa, I had to limit my travel experience in NZ to 90 days. Would have loved to stay longer and spend more money. (Yes, I could have flown all the way to Oz and back for another entry, but I didn't bother.) And yes, the same applies to Thailand; if it's too bothersome, there's plenty other countries to spend one's money...
  17. Here we go again; the two eternal obsessions of Thais: 1. Why don't more foreigners travel to Thailand, and stay longer than just the average 9 days? 2. Why do foreigners stay (that) long in Thailand?
  18. You guys need to get a hobby. He's living in your head. Not everyone is 'glued' all day to AN. Sometimes you have to give people a bit of time to reply...
  19. True. I had a METV in 2019. Arriving for my last possible entry, the IO seemed to give her supervisor a signal, then said something to him like 'never mind'... - Repeat visitors, arriving often over the course of one year, or staying for an extended time on any tourist visas, or VFEs seem to be more and more unwelcome in Thailand, which explains the TAT's hype about populous countries like China and India... 'Come and visit once, leave all your money here, but don't come back anytime soon.' - Hub of hospitalty? Well...
  20. I have to give it to the Thais that they don't need to be 'reminded' about their country's hostages. If I were a hostage, I'd be worried though, as my country gives a rat's a** about their own abroad...
  21. These "rules" were enacted almost 20 years ago, and only a few years later abolished. Still quoted by unscrupulous IOs, though, particularly at the Bangkok airports.
