Chinese Tourists Revive Thailand Tourism Using ED Visa
StayinThailand2much replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yes, they really love the Chinese, we know that already! Wasn't the ED Visa scoffed at in the media not so long ago, as it was, supposedly, misused by some? But yes, if the Chinese have it, the red carpet gets rolled out...- 40 replies

Tourism Industry Backs Reinstatement of 300 Baht Tourist Fee
StayinThailand2much replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News

Tourism Industry Backs Reinstatement of 300 Baht Tourist Fee
StayinThailand2much replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Of course they do, but this proposal has nothing to do with higher airport-costs, or tourism-industry improvements, or insurance, but is (in the latest proposal) purely a money-grab, cause there are "too many tourists", despite TAT's very frequent announcements about plans to attract like 80 million international tourists, or more. -

That's good and fair. And I will remind myself to cut one of my expenses by 300 baht to compensate, every time I travel to Thailand. 😆 -

Thailand Tourism Seeks Boost Following Cabinet Reshuffle
StayinThailand2much replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And yet, wasn't the word only a few days ago that there are 'too many tourists, and the Tourism Minister should take action'? So, why is there still a need for promotion, or do certain parties in Thailand get a cut from the promotion budget? -
Songkran Festival Boosts Thai Economy by 140 Billion Baht
StayinThailand2much replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It's simple, they just assumed that each tourist (all singles, obviously) spent 1,000 baht on accommodation per night, and 800 baht per day on food and beverages... -
15+ hours return (for the driver); good luck finding a taxi at Suvarnabhumi for such a trip. Of course, if you offer enough cash, you might get lucky... Probably you'd have to offer at least eight or ten thousand baht.

Thailand Crowned Best Country to Visit in 2024
StayinThailand2much replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Was this sponsored by the TAT like other recent 'news' reports about Thailand as a destination? -
And the TAT and government want 80 million foreign tourists, or roughly three times the number they got over the past year! Nuff said... Perhaps they should invest into infrastructure (besides the airports) for once.

I remember well, how Anutin called (Western) foreigners "dirty", and asked Thais to stay well away from them not so long ago... Add how dirty and polluted the country is, overpriced compared to neighbouring countries, and the changed attitude of Thai women. - Yes, I really want to be fleeced more for all this... Not! - This is not the 1980s where there were limited other destination choices in the region.
