  1. Have they solved the transportation problems for tourists in a 'smart' way yet, i.e. providing public transportation suitable for tourists, but not limited to mafia-style taxi cliques?
  2. Still, puzzles me how they can live in Thailand if they don't have 1,900 baht for a visa extension. As for the guy in the OP, he could have actually crossed the border on foot, if he wanted to, as he was staying close to the Malaysian border anyway, thereby getting, initially, 30 (or 45 until March) days, but, perhaps, he had used his two allowed land-border crossings already...
  3. Seems the baht is already reacting; just today 1% weaker vs. most currencies.
  4. If you 'lend' money to anyone in Thailand, count it as being gone for good.
  5. Wonder if TAT employees follow international news, or watch YouTube. If they searched for something along the lines of 'Chinese economy', perhaps they would get an idea of how the same is falling apart... Do they really think that large numbers of unemployed, but indebted Chinese line up to come to Thailand?
  6. Go for it, TAT! I follow your example, and expect to win 5 million in the lottery this year...
  7. Same here. It's common sense to keep an eye on one's bill. Never had a problem in Pattaya. Only time I had in Thailand was at an upstairs bar in Patpong many years ago, where they tried to charge me 3x the price of a beer. (When I wanted to pay, suddenly lights went on, exposing a sign that earlier was not visible about 'drinks actually costing 3x the announced price'...) - I just complained, paid the originally billed price, and left.
  8. LOL. I just agreed with your earlier post. I have lived for two decades in this part of the world, so, yes, as for the 'research' part; check! (Seen all the facets of Thai politics: democracy in crisis, populism, various military coups and dictatorships, civil unrest, etc., etc.) The news item I mentioned, basically confirmed your earlier post and opinion. Yes, less and less people trust traditional news channels, but I still consider a handful of them trustworthy. And as for, say, places like North Korea, Somalia, etc., I mostly rely on them, as I don't plan to do my 'own research' there... ????
  9. That's right. I watched my country's news about this general election in Thailand. While, generally, in my country's news shows there is a large emphasis on democratic developments and elections around the world, often even eclipsing national news, reporting about this election in Thailand was surprisingly brief, while suggesting that forming a government might be difficult.
  10. Well ahead of Thailand... ????
  11. I scratched my head after watching it. Then I came across this online... An expression of astonishment in South London black kids use the phrase "God save the Queen!" to mean far out or cool. You really did that! God save the Queen! by dustmote August 21, 2006 Does the explanation lie in Biden's trips to the UK, or, perhaps, is this an expression in New England or N.Y.C.?
  12. Reverse effect here... Started to eat less red meat and cheese, actually gaining weight.
  13. I was recently worried when my pee started to smell sweet. But I figure it was due to either, consuming fruit juice at the time, or using more sugar in my coffee... Things are back to normal now that I consume less of both.
  14. They would probably be better off learning from the Vietnamese, growing more fruit instead...
  15. During the pandemic I picked up the habit of eating all the time, esp. from early afternoon till midnight. Most of the time I eat out of boredom, not because I am hungry...
  16. Wait, didn't they just announce (again) a huge jump in tourist arrivals? But I guess those Burmese, Cambodian, Laotian, and Malaysian tourists prefer other locations to Phuket. (I heard, Samut Prakarn and Samut Sakhon are popular holiday destinations this year.) And, not to worry, 50 Chinese airplanes with half a million passengers are on their way...
  17. Depends on the staff / waiters. If they 'make a face', why should I smile? But if they are friendly, I do.
  18. Seems indeed like a lot. 1,300 coins, or so, and lots of water... Is it attached to water pipes? Or does he, perhaps, charge 100 baht to fill a bottle?
  19. Is it me, or did it even get worse after the pandemic?
  20. I know. I was being sarcastic... ????
