  1. Good on the Swedish bloke, and the cops, that arrested these thugs quickly. Getting involved in Thailand is always dangerous.
  2. Me too. Who travels abroad without a passport? The real reason has probably more to do with rising costs for hotels, etc., due to staff shortages in the UK thanks to Covid and Brexit, probably resulting in fewer (open) hotels and higher room prices.
  3. They are Russian, cause they "invaded" another country (Thailand)...
  4. What was he thinking? That he was a Thai electrical engineer?
  5. I did some 'crazy' hiking and climbing in NZ and Oz, often dangerous, and more than once I almost fell off 'the cliff', but walking that distance on glass, made and constructed in Thailand?? I'm crazy, not suicidal! ????
  6. Made in Thailand, (and/or, perhaps, with Chinese materials)... Count me out to ever walk on that thing.
  7. Yes! With the famous 'Z'...
  8. Spot on. That's why it will never happen in Thailand.
  9. True, as there are probably many more retirees and tourists reading posts on this forum than migrants and refugees... Such news items may be interesting, but they aren't really relevant to the reader here, as neither migrant workers, nor retirees are permitted to partake in any elections or public offices.
  10. Update: Only a few hours later, I received an email from "Booking.com", promising me almost 250 U.S. dollars as a 'reward just for you'. - Everything, logo, font, etc., looked like a genuine email from Booking.com. All I had to do to claim, was 'click on the link and fill in your full address'... I never received such a fake Booking.com email before, so the coincidence is very strange! If so, then behind this "agency" (Road ... a.k.a. Teach .. .... - my research tells me they're based in Hat Yai) must be very sophisticated scammers, praying on job seekers. - How did I know the Booking.com email was fake? I clicked on 'Reply', and the email didn't add up...
  11. Also, this made me think; do job applicants give possible scammers too many personal details (full name, d.o.b., credentials, perhaps your address...) - Should one initially only send a cover letter, answering job ads, perhaps not even giving your real name? How to know that job advertisers are genuine, and not out to scam people. (Yes, in the West there are established job agencies, but this is Thailand...)
  12. Warning! There is a scammer agency heavily advertising about ‘Jobs all over Thailand’, name is Road sth. A woman promises jobs, not even checking your suitability. She talks about a seminar one ‘should’ visit. Later you receive an email, incl. a PayPal invoice over almost 10,000 baht (as half payment for the seminar), even though you never agreed to participate. Cancelling via email and other media, there is no reply, and that woman, conveniently doesn’t answer your phone calls anymore. After a few days there’s an invoice reminder in your mailbox.
  13. Fair enough. Everyone is different.
  14. I'm staying right in the middle of a bar area. Guess, the only pussy I will see the next 10 days is the property's cat...
  15. Happened to me years ago, went to Pattaya on the 16th of April, thinking: "Thank god, Songkran is over." Till I got there... ????
  16. Wonder how they make any money during that time. As for me, I can do without being showered with dirty, cold Khlong water...
  17. Great. Good luck I stocked up on groceries. Might not spend much money the next 10 days. Hope, it will turn out well economically for Pattaya.
  18. I never got this right, when does the water-throwing in Pattaya start, 12th or 13th, and does it just go on for a whole week, or are there 'dry' days after the 15th?
  19. Just Songkran? How about the other Water Festivals around SE Asia?
  20. So, you're saying there will be huge unemployment in a few years?
  21. How did they manage to catch him exactly on day 1,200?
