When a culture of hitting children is shared by the teachers this is often the result. Abuse in Thai schools requires a long, hard look in the mirror There are now 13 employees of the Sarasas Witaed Ratchaphruek School who are facing charges after the parents of 30 students complained that their children, mostly around kindergarten age, had been physically abused, said police Lt. Gen. Ampol Buarubporn, the regional police commissioner overseeing the case. https://www.asahi.com/ajw/articles/13795455

Not in my experience, a disruptive student can impact the class performance, its about your skills as a teacher to have effective discipline strategies from preventative, supportive and corrective each with their own levels and distinct actions. Resorting to hitting you’ve already failed as well as being illegal in Thailand, all of Europe and the UK

Ok so ignoring the fictional writings of Daniel Defoe with Robinson Crusoe the earliest documented accounts of cannabis in Thailand or ganga as known here was as a condiment in food and for medical use. it was only in the late 60’s when the US army was over here during the Vietnam war that recreational use became a thing and Thai’s started supplying this to the troops, there are no records of how widespread it was in Thai’s though.

Can’t see any point there to be honest. you agree there should be laws and regulations in place so there we have it. Why do you think they should be in place? deterrent possibly? That’s what laws are right, they help deter illegal activity. Stopping illegal sales by unlicensed shops, Facebook sellers and online retailers. Great we all agree.

"Until she was 13 years old, she was known by the number 11. From the age of 13 to 16, she was number 39." Interesting series of 5 articles on the issues reflected by some of the survivors and the difficult process for some of the locals to face their inner racism. All the articles are sublinked within each article, here are just two: ‘Just another Indian’: Surviving Canada’s residential schools A survivor of schools that took Indigenous children from their families shares her story of abuse, neglect and healing. “I tell people I spent 10 years in jail even though I never committed a crime.” Alsena says she never felt love at the school. In fact, she never felt human. Until she was 13 years old, she was known by the number 11. From the age of 13 to 16, she was number 39. https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2020/3/24/just-another-indian-surviving-canadas-residential-schools ‘How did we become enemies?’: Racism and reconciliation in Canada In one rural town with a history of racism, small efforts at reconciliation are underway – but will they be enough? St Paul, Alberta – When Amil Shapka, 62, reflects on his hometown being referred to as racist, he grows defensive. St Paul, Alberta, is dear to his heart. The people here, he says, are closely connected and it is a good place to raise a family. “Sometimes our parents would threaten that if you didn’t behave, ‘we’re going to take you to the Indians’,” he says. https://www.aljazeera.com/features/2020/5/1/how-did-we-become-enemies-racism-and-reconciliation-in-canada

Are we reading two separate papers because the one I’m reading contains a balance of opinions and discussions that includes those denouncing racism and those who were explicitly open about it. Anyway interesting that you take the time look up the University ranking to attempt to discredit it. I’ll agree to disagree with you, I find it informative, very well researched and reflective of some posts on here. No I’m not going to link to them, they are here for all to see.

Public discourse goes on in Facebook right, forums and social media if I’m not mistaken so their research is bang on. Did you notice the two full pages of reference credits and the paper is from Bishops Uni? Didn’t they say that the official report won’t be out till around the end of the month on the Kamloops School after they had finished the underground surveys? Sure that’s all been gone over already in this thread so no point repeating what’s already been said. The paper was also clear that it did not research the school findings. The paper is about racism. But no surprise you deflect that with the school. I rest my case at that and bid you good night.

Denying Racism in Canada’s Residential School System Prevalent public discourse denies that residential schools were part of a racist policy of cultural genocide supported by politicians from different political parties, by churches, and by the general public. This discourse of denial concedes that individual Canadians or sub-groups of Canadians might be responsible, but shields Canada from blame. Racism remains individual, interpersonal, and a product of ignorance. The TRC report calls for training in anti-racism for those working in educational institutions. https://ojs-o.library.ubc.ca/index.php/CERJ/article/download/453/497

Malaysia Detains Thais Who Tested Positive For Marijuana
coolcarer replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
So what exactly did you mean by this gem of a post to me: “Well you know what they say,,,Those who can, do Those who can't. teach, and those who aren't much use at that teach overseas, I'd concentrate on the task in hand and leave the social concern to others” I can’t speak for Thai schools but I can for international schools here in Thailand that teach the British Curriculum and also for UK schools. PSHE has been taught for the previous 5 years and includes education on drugs, using and misuse. It additionally looks at the very necessary legislation imposed by the governments to ensure the students are not encouraged to break laws. To imply it’s somehow the teachers fault by saying they are “sadly neglecting their duties” is the height of ignorance. -

Unable to respond you revert to personal insults based on nothing but a fabrication in your mind. Frequent cannabis use by young people linked to decline in IQ A study has found that adolescents who frequently use cannabis may experience a decline in Intelligence Quotient (IQ) over time. The findings of the research provide further insight into the harmful neurological and cognitive effects of frequent cannabis use on young people. The paper, led by researchers at RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, is published in Psychological Medicine. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2021/01/210128134755.htm -

Do you have any experience of drug cannabis taking in youths here in Thailand and how they purchase it? You say experience is your most important asset and disregard links. I do and can tell you since the new laws and the abundance of publicity and shops springing up that experimental usage is on the up, certainly in the adolescent age groups -

Where Pot Became Legal, Car Crash Deaths Rose: Study His team found that after marijuana legalization, the rate of car crashes with injuries increased by nearly 6%, while fatal crashes rose by 4%. No increase in these crashes was seen in states that hadn't legalized marijuana, the researchers noted. These results are consistent with prior studies https://www.usnews.com/news/health-news/articles/2022-07-19/where-pot-became-legal-car-crash-deaths-rose-study -
Video appears to show Russian soldier castrating Ukrainian prisoner

That’s unfair, I like to watch some of the sadistic comedy on Russia Today sometimes, gives a sense of just how warped their minds are, Russian state TV on the other hand can be just pure evil with its statements from official Duma representatives -

You need to hone in on your independent research because denying that Bucha was anything other than murderous war crime committed by Russia indicates you are lacking in any form of honesty and reality -
You're right, you won't find any UK qualified teachers working in a Thai school, at least I don't know any. Any qualified teachers head straight to one of the good International schools where they have an excellent salary (more than UK), benefits and even return home flight tickets yearly for summer breaks. If they have children they get free education at the school for their children too. Of course they also need to have a specialism in the curriculum subjects and year groups they apply for.

Assault on Kiev: Russian helicopters swoop above Ukraine's capital
coolcarer replied to Chris.B's topic in The War in Ukraine
Noted you used the "simplest terms" as your example why does that not surprise me when the article itself states the following: There is no expert consensus on who exactly is a “mercenary.” Academic typologies overcomplicate an already complex problem, helping no one. Accordingly, this analysis will use these myriad labels interchangeably with “mercenary.” You may want to take a look at the HALO Trust, a UK based Charity that also does similar work, by your definition they are also mercenaries as they have their experts teach locals how to de mine in Ukraine since 2016 and continue there today, here's a word from Prince Harry on his support for them. "You guys are saving lives every day. I mean, I know you're part of HALO, so that's exactly what you signed up to do...Keep doing what you're doing, keep saving lives." Regardless, additional credible sources would not classify Mozart as a Mercenary group, it is not a PMC providing soldiers of fortune and does not get involved in military conflict or security work. https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/mercenary https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercenary One last question as this is now completely derailed the thread, do you really think if they were looking for trolls they would advertise for them on a public website so that people like you and the Russian propagandists could then use it for their own propaganda? Or do you think they would use more clandestine methods? https://www.halotrust.org/ -

Better you enlighten me on your claim they are a mercenary group, since when does mine clearing, civilian evacuations, medical evacuations, and training Ukraine troops constitute being a mercenary group? I will wait for your link. https://www.themozartgroup.com/#services -
