It's tied to airline insisting on onward flight for visa exempt plans to visit Thailand. That is still very much the case. Your posts re a particular airline is misleading and certainly not the norm regarding no need to attend airline for boarding pass and check. You being Oz need eVisa for Vietnam. Take a trip and you will find airline check in required. Also on return to Thailand same. Online check in not available. Oz to Vietnam (just one example) the same.

You have stated that many times. Try flying Jetstar or eg Vietjet out of Brisbane or other Oz airports and see how it works out

Certainly not my experience. I travel a LOT. When I fly out of Oz to Vietnam I need to attend airline desk and they examine my eVisa to Vietnam with fine tooth comb. When I fly DMK to Saigon (every 2 months) same deal. When I fly Melbourne to BKK Jetstar they ask for my reentry permit. Not to long ago with new pp the airline required my old pp as it contained reentry permit.

Thinking good advice for folk doing border bounce in future is to use "visa run" agents (minivan) . They can advise current situation.

Return flight not required. It can be any onward flight within the 60 days and may be required by the airline. You omitted age 70yr in OP. For frequent stays in Thailand being over 50 he has options eg non O retirement.

You are mixing two methods. Your OP refers to income method then post re funds in the bank method. Using funds in the bank immigration will not question origin on funds. Regarding income method....without income letter from embassy immigration MAY ask to see evidence of source of funds eg pension statement etc. In most cases a 12 month bank statement showing monthly deposits (best on regular date) will be sufficient. Your statement..... "Prelude to taxing us and guesstimating how much long stayers might be able to be milked?" is meaningless.

Is this such a big deal. Some immigration offices provide COR free. Some ie CW charge 200 per certificate. The most I have read is 800. Note: for others if COR required for both car and bike just request ONE. Transport office will accept photocopy.

That is not the case at CW. To obtain a COR you will require a TM47 receipt. Not possible on visa exempt or tourist visa.

In that case obtain the non O retirement in Oz and upon entry to Thailand you will be given a 90 day stamp. In the last 30 days apply for the 12 month extension. I'm also Oz and use WISE to transfer funds to Thai bank account. If you can park 800k all year round that's a good option.

You can enter visa exempt to Thailand and obtain a non O retirement at your local immigration office. OR obtain a non O retirement at a Thai consulate. Which immigration office allowed the first extension to be made based on retirement.

Most likely not. The first extension from a non O should be based what the non O was. In your case on marriage. Subsequent extensions can be based on retirement
