  1. Not necessarily. Many use an agent. Better plan for you is to obtain eVisa non O in UK. With non O in pp you should be able to open Thai bank account in your name only. In recent times in eg Bangkok even some agents have dropped opening bank account from their services eg Siam Legal. Also in Bangkok you need a COR and that requires a TM47.
  2. OP, is UK so no embassy letter for income method. He would need to show 12 month of transfers for first extension.
  3. Hopefully someone doing extensions marriage using Korat can give you first hand knowledge re that immigration office. Unrelated but here is thread that just discusses "photo requirements" Could make Monty Python sketch out of it. https://aseannow.com/topic/1290005-photos-for-marriage-extension/ Here is ubonjoe list for extension based on marriage. https://aseannow.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=843557&key=2caaa6b16bae18dd24e0a61253734932
  4. Profile indicates Phuket. Would make things lot easier if OP,s stated their immigration office in first post.
  5. I have done it by mail about 12 days prior to due date. It was approved (CW) and a note to do it 15 days prior next time in return mail along with TM47 receipt. Since then have stuck with the 15.
  6. Indeed, also the loss of interest from alternatives such as shares. In addition to fact that funds need to be in bank account in your name only.
  7. Thanks. Was not aware of that. Yes Hanoi is an option.
  8. Well, you advised me to read more posts. I've been reading them for the last 13 years Me about the same. Have read many threads where folk complaining about extension based on marriage requirements. Even some asking for advice re travel during under consideration period. Some about wife currently working away from home and cannot attend immigration. Some about paperwork (many) Some feel home visit intrusive. Despite your experience many have annual visit. In any event the OP asked for pros cons.
  9. So? What do you mean "So" Thought it was obvious. If you bother to read the OP it would appear that he has not been transferring monthly income. Does not even live in Thailand. The income method requires 12 months of forward planning.
  10. Good option. Especially now that visa exempt 60 days vs SETV also 60. Good value @~1300b
  11. No one is going to look for past posts re visits ongoing. I did just now and the posts are extensive. Here is one cut paste from @Crossy ... "The boys from Pathum Thani came yesterday afternoon (marriage extension, they come every year)."
  12. The OP is a Brit. No income letter from embassy. He would need to show 12 months of transfers
  13. Very rare. Very rare? I'm reading different threads than you. As stated earlier, if extensions marriage is so silky smooth then why would married folk do extensions based on retirement instead. Locking up 800k has an opportunity cost. Does not require a reply. Of course I could scroll back over threads to to post links of folk wanting to change from marriage to retirement. Each have their own reasons. Current thread:
  14. I would find it intrusive. Also some offices the home visit is not just for for first application. It's ongoing. Some find requirement for wife to attend inconvenient. There obviously reasons why some married guys opt for based on retirement when marriage is a option.
  15. Your departure is in the system. Your return will not be an issue. Re 90 day reporting that seems to currently be issue online. If immigration office is convenient suggest to TM47 in person or via mail
  16. It's about time spent in the almost continuously back to back using visa exempt entry. Balanced between time out of Thailand. Current thread just one example... Spending 6 month in and months out using visa exempt entry. Should not be an issue
  17. If it wasn’t reported like it was you wouldn’t have known it was happening. What about Africa and India how come they didn’t bother with it ? Leave out the politics in forum for advice re visa, residence, work permit etc
  18. Do not understand your posts The OP wants to spend 6/6 split Thailand (continuous) and home country. Your non O-A detail is off topic. Non O-A nothing to do with this thread. Worst option for the OP.
  19. To be clear. Child lives with you and you were previously married to Thai mother.
  20. Surely that's a joke.. Almost weekly threads complaining about extensions based on marriage requirements. If the financial requirements is not an issue then based on retirement is a no brainer. OP..did not vaguely mention intention to work. The under consideration period along with home visit would be a no go for some. Include myself. From the OP .., "Thanks to all who have replied. Retirement seems the best option then."
  21. Seems that you may have a non O-A. That would require insurance and require ongoing new non O-A Perhaps you actually have have extensions based on retirement from a non O and but multi reentry permit. Your post is not clear. Did you read the OP. He does not want option you outlined. The OP wants 6 month in Thailand (continuous) and 6 out (home country)
  22. You are mixing up a non O based on retirement which is a single entry visa that provides 90 day stamp. In last 30 days you obtain 12 month extension at local immigration office. You are typing about a non O-A. Multi entry visa valid for 12 months. Requires medical etc etc. Rule out that option.
  23. Non O along with ongoing extensions based on marriage and retirement do NOT require insurance. Extensions retirement are extremely simple. Very little paperwork. The major negative is financial requirements that basically locks up 800k baht. Extensions marriage require lot more paperwork along with possible home visit, witnesses (some offices) , under consideration period, photos etc etc. Plus side is minimal financials. 400k in bank for only 2 months prior to application then can be used after final stamp in pp
  24. There are other requirements. This thread contains information and links to other threads and info links. https://aseannow.com/topic/1327020-extension-of-stay-based-on-having-a-thai-child/
