Passport needed for travel around Thailand?
DrJack54 replied to ChomDo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Did you even read the OP, The guy is going on a holiday for ONE month and driving a car and on an island. Madness to even consider not traveling with his passport. Surely this thread is a wind-up -
Passport needed for travel around Thailand?
DrJack54 replied to ChomDo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Silly throw away comment. Passport is absolutely required for some things. Would be very foolish to travel to an island and also driving to not travel with passport. Those suggesting otherwise are giving very poor advice. The OP appears to be living in Thailand (expat) and to even start this thread is quite ridiculous. -

Obtaining Non-o in Thailand
DrJack54 replied to smoo1954's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, the above experts gave you good info. Being from Germany your embassy still provides you with "income letter" which gives you option to use "income method" The alternative is "money in bank method" Either way what is critical is for you to have Thai bank account in your name only. Do you have that? -
Just to be clear. Visas are not extended. Your non O provided you with a 90 day permission of stay. That visa is used. Your subsequent extensions are just extension of your permission of stay. You also state..... "There are always those who say they never get asked for one or the other or both - I was not asked for Tm30 but I provided a TM47. I had to provide TM30 docs for transfer stamps to new passport and 90 day report." Guess I'm one of those as have been here 10 years on extensions based on retirement and have never filed a TM30. You also post.... "They prefer Lease, Owner ID and housebook.". Indeed that is what's required. BTW signed by owner. Not lease and utility bill. However sometimes accepted.
-
CW most likely would not accept a TM30 based on lease and utility bill. You also state the following... "Immigration made extension of visa dependent on the TM30" Visas are not extended. Extensions of stay basically fall into couple of groups. For those obtaining annual extension a TM30 should not be required. However some rubbish offices require one. For 30 day extension to tourist visa and visa exempt entry then usually a TM30 is necessary.

OA visa vs O visa (retirement)
DrJack54 replied to Lorry's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Completely correct. That is one reason why recommended not to apply for non O-A to early prior to first entry in order to maximize stay. Unrelated but good opportunity to remind folk that if exit Thailand in the "second year" you need to obtain reentry permit. Current thread where chap overlooked that and was given visa exempt entry on return -

Would be completely foolish move not to take your passport. I don't even understand some of the posts in this thread from folk suggesting otherwise. -
Can Canadian fly into vietnam visa exempt?

Rubbish. State the reason you were refused entry. Simple question. -
What are my options for visa
DrJack54 replied to 2008bangkok's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Geez.... renewal of pp prior to then problematic. You could obtain a 60 day extension to visit wife or children Thinking your best option is to encourage (bribe) wife to attend immigration for another extension based on marriage since retirement not an option. Home visit might be tricky. What was previous extension based on. Assume children -

DrJack54 replied to 2008bangkok's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You don't need to obtain a visa. However you need to leave Thailand border bounce and reenter visa exempt. After entry obtain a non O retirement and subsequent extensions. Not having to leave Thailand would have been an option if on good terms with wife and could change your extension to one based on retirement. Seems not possible. Obviously non O and extension has more difficult financial requirements. If you cannot meet these you could consider use of agent. Edit: after thought..You could pay the wife to attend immigration for the change of extension to based on retirement. -
Nonthaburi IO residency certificate

The one stop is related to BOI. If you live in Thailand on for example retirement extensions you need to attend immigration office. -
OA visa vs O visa (retirement)
DrJack54 replied to Lorry's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, you have outlined the requirements very well.... The results are in and the verdict for ongoing living in Thailand is .. ....non O and subsequent extensions. No insurance requirements. -

Not related at all. Presenting boarding pass to io on arrival has always been required. -

Might be a silly suggestion but why not take a close up pic of house # and add it to your photos -
New requirement or not?
DrJack54 replied to Confuscious's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I posted rules regarding need for TM30. That was reply to another poster. Along with clarification for others. You stated ... "IO did not to process my visa extension without an update to the "Notification of address" in my passport." I cannot help you with your immigration office. TM30 should not be required for extensions. The fact that Korat is rogue office is your issue. Why complain about my posts as couple of others have. Your immigration office sets your hurdles. I'm outlining correct rules re TM30. Your post also included this... The answer was very clear: "Just start to count for 90 days at the date you enter the country and report then for 90 days stay". That refers to tm47 and was not my post. -
If you returned with a reentry permit then no need to file TM30. As usual it depends on your immigration office. Regards your request for residence certificate immigration should not have required an updated TM30. Your most recent TM47 should have been sufficient. Bottom line is unfortunately you need to do what your immigration office requires. Which immigration office do you deal with?

Not a problem. For that period of time for your return to Thailand what visa etc option you opt for depends on period of visit etc. Plenty of guys (still working in home country) visit for period of months each year. Plenty of options for married guys eg 60 extension to visit wife etc etc.

Nonthaburi IO residency certificate
DrJack54 replied to problemfarang's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Please report back your experience. At CW it's 200b and no option for same day service. It's mail out and can take 1-2 weeks. May not be an issue as might take you that long to get appointment at Transport office for your TDL Renewal. I'm also doing mine soon and you may like to check out motor forum. There is online test you can do.
