OP, have you used "60 day extension to visit wife" Obtaining that would enable enough time to season the 400k. Do you have two bank accounts. If together they cover the shortfall you could use both accounts for money in bank method. Failing that you could border bounce and enter visa exempt and subsequent non O and 12 month extension.

New passport - how to proceed?
DrJack54 replied to StayinThailand2much's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
General rule of thumb is that stamps, visa information etc is transfered at immigration where they were issued. Example my last passport renewal was some years back at CW. The io at CW transferred non O details, etc. Would not transfer my reentry permit. Reason....it was issued at DMK (airport). "You need go there" Not surprised by your post. -

Nup. He will be given an "admitted till" date according to his reentry permit in old passport. -
Retirement visa and new passport

The OP would enter Thailand with valid reentry permit in old passport and will be given stamp till date same as on reentry permit. -
Retirement visa and new passport

One option is to wait till your window for 90 day report opens after return and do the TM47 and transfer of stamps on same visit. Don't forget to update things such as bank account passport details. -
When should I pre-apply for a visa?
DrJack54 replied to dpinger's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
How long is a piece of string. The amount on time you plan for being in Thailand for 2014 is not an issue using visa exempt entries. Don't follow the "visa bit of hassle where I live" eVisa? -
Confirmation of legal residence in the UK

Passport confirms your automatic right of residence in your passport country. Nothing to do with a proof of address. That's why pp is sufficient -

Bangkok Bank at Chaengwattana
DrJack54 replied to OzMan's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
8.30am. Regardless of what time you arrive it's best to go to que desk prior to going downstairs to banks. Be aware sometimes que desk ask to see your application TM7 filled in. You also should make small deposit as same time. CW prefer bank book to be updated and show activity on day of application. -
Seems you may be dealing with Jomitien. You using Bangkok Bank ?

So you are aware of obtaining 60 day stamp by entering prior to expiry of current visa. Good. They will stamp you in for 60 and you can obtain 30 day extension. After that it may be possible to border bounce for 30 day visa exempt entry. That can be extended by 30 days. You may be able to do that twice. Spending time out of Thailand is good advice.

Assume you are that if you exit and reenter just prior to expiry of your METV you will be stamped in for another 60 days and you can obtain 30 day extension to that entry.. Regarding further stay in Thailand you could do visa exempt land border entries. You are allowed 2 per calendar year. You might be able to milk out 4 months from those.

Avoid using term "bank letter" that refers to this https://aseannow.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=786616 Bank letter is just letter from bank that confirms you are the owner of the account and balance. Have never seen the photocopy of the "statement" in your OP. Kasikorn can provide you 12 months "Bank Statements" on day you apply. 200b. Bangkok bank take few days to do the same. Jomitien should accept 12 month bank statement showing monthly transfers from abroad. Perhaps immigration is asking for credit advice for some transfers to show they came from abroad.

Your reference to insurance comes from looking at a non O-A in the USA. You cannot obtain that in Thailand at immigration. @TheAppletons pointed out above. You can obtain a 12 month extension to your permission of stay. However that has financial requirements. Do you have a Thai bank account in your name only? Dont feel bad about not obtaining the non O-A as the insurance requirement continues for each annual extension. Many folk (retirement) have ditched the non O-A and obtained a non O. Here is a thread that outlines obtaining the 12 month extension. Ignore the "obtain non O from visa exempt entry" https://aseannow.com/topic/1311886-visa-exempt-to-retirement-extension-process-and-cost/
