  1. Did you miss this ..... "As mentioned above....in Bangkok to obtain a certificate of residence a 90 day report needs to have been filed."..... My post was Bangkok specific. OP did not mention where he plans to open his bank account or how he plans to enter Thailand visa wise ...
  2. You obtain from immigration or international airports such as BKK, DMK etc. You need TM8 form and photo. Basic copies of passport pages. Single reentry permit 1000b Multiple 3800b
  3. That may have been possible years ago. The rules are more strict now. As mentioned above....in Bangkok to obtain a certificate of residence a 90 day report needs to have been filed. Obtaining equivalent from his embassy an option but messy, especially if entering on tourist visa or visa exempt.
  4. OP, where are you planning to open the account. Be aware that if it is Bangkok you require a certificate of residence and if entering on a visa exempt or tourist visa that is not possible. Your embassy may provide equivalent but messy. Regards "which bank" pick either Bangkok Bank or Kasikorn. If you opt to use agent to open account they generally charge 4k baht and use Bangkok Bank..
  5. Since you persist then name your immigration office and my guess is that I can point out a difference to that office from another.. There are approx 75 offices. And you start with "totally wrong" More strange than your first post..
  6. Perhaps the funniest/most strange post for today. Immigration offices have their own requirements and sadly some that are just flat out incorrect.
  7. OP, you missed this post from @OJAS.... "Precisely what do you mean by this expression? An application for an annual extension of stay based on marriage? Or for the conversion of a visa-exempt or tourist visa entry into a non-O visa for marriage,...." Answer that question and you will receive more accurate replies.
  8. My point is that myself along with others suggested options. Obtaining a non O outside of Thailand. If you had engaged and stated that your son would be interested in attending school that perhaps would have also been suggested as an option. Just a guess but most 18 yr olds would not be looking at Non ED. In any event my suggestion is next time you start a thread get involved.
  9. Couple of issues with that. Not all embassies provide that service. Oz embassy being one (no surprise there) Second is that some embassies require an appointment. Given that for some the reason to obtain bank account to facilitate obtaining a Non O ..time is of the essence. In that situation (certainly in Bangkok) 4k to an agent is best option. Note that most agents use Bangkok Bank. That's ok as that bank is one of the only 3 banks that don't have ridiculous small limit in using WISE for transfers.
  10. Samui immigration is a rubbish office. They make up their own rules. Some other office also point blank make rubbish up. Think the dragon lady at Jomtien insists on 2 months dosh in bank when in fact it's only needed to be in bank on day of application. You can obtain obtain a non O marriage or retirement from a visa exempt entry at most offices.
  11. Think that was one of Mr A .... minister moments Belongs in episode of "Yes Minister"
  12. There would not be a set rule. Part of the conditions on the visa is attendance. I recall someone asking same question previously. He took a break of couple of weeks. What break were you considering. This thread includes some info and link for reentry permit https://aseannow.com/topic/1260289-exit-and-re-entry-w-1-year-edu-visa/
  13. OP, you can take a break from school however good idea to take letter from the school indicating approval for temporary break.
  14. The io stu ffed up. Unless you have exited Thailand without reentry permit you can obtain a 12 month extension. Your stay has been continuous and based upon extensions provided by Thai gov. Which immigration office?
  15. Will not be extended Disregard any "news" from TAT etc. Would have already been announced if 45 was to be extended.
  16. Your post in the thread link you posted included your speech. Why add again to this thread.
  17. MANY folk that have killed off their non O-A by exiting Thailand and reenter Thailand visa exempt to obtain non O retirement and subsequent extensions would disagree with your non O-A suggestion.
  18. Indeed. The issue for CW (I realize only one immigration office) is that to issue a certificate of residence they require a 90 day report to have been made. Impossible for visa exempt or tourist visa entry.
  19. He has 2 options. Obtain the non O visa in USA then open bank account after he arrives in Thailand. Or.. Better option is to open Thai bank account after entering on a tourist visa or visa exempt entry using agent. Cost is ~ 4k baht. Non O retirement and subsequent extensions is better option than non O-A for living ongoing in Thailand.
  20. The fact that @Lotz started thread on Monday and has not replied or visited since does not inspire confidence. In any event OP, your son will need to obtain the non O outside of Thailand and then apply for subsequent extension.
