You needed to obtain a reentry permit. You now have a 45 day permission of stay.. Nothing can be done. Sadly a big error. The "multi entry" part of the visa expired along with it in Dec 2022.

OP, you have two hurdles. Some countries Thai consulates might be reluctant to issue back to back METV. Think France is one example. Oz on the other hand no problem. The next issue is entry into Thailand with so much time spent in Thailand ongoing. The thread attached is long thread of rejected entry experience with METV. Keep in mind this thread is 2019 and at that time Bangkok airports went on some crusade. Personally I wouldn't attempt it. Few months (3) between visas a better option.

Not at all. Folk ask about the process to non O and subsequent extension based on retirement or marriage from visa exempt/tourist visa daily. Your post was not even close. Hardly semantics.

Vaguely recall similar report. Also not sure if Samui issue non O from visa exempt/tourist visa entries. Bit of a nonsense immigration office imo. Guess Surat Thani an alternative.

Possibly the letter from hotel assisted. Bit surprised that was sufficient however he got the account so all good. Did he buy insurance? Bangkok Bank often makes things easier if you buy insurance.

You would not have been obtaining an extension approx date of 50th birthday. You would have been applying for non O retirement.

So he obtained a certificate of residence from immigration with a visa exempt entry. Do you know what immigration required from him? Not clear but appears he may of had a lease from his hotel or was TM30 sufficient.

The period that you keep referring to is the error. It's referring to continuous permission of stay. For example ....a guy that owns his own condo and lives partly in Thailand and partly in home country. If he maintains ongoing extensions and obtains reentry permits then when he exits Thailand and then reenters with reentry permit goes to his condo then he does NOT need to make a TM30. If the the other hand he just enters Thailand with new visa or visa exempt then he will need to file TM30. Of course anyone changing their address (place of residence) will need to do a TM30

Read my first post and that answered question in your OP. Later in thread you rant about options to be a tourist in Thailand. I pointed out that Thailand has several options that some nearby countries do not. You have a METV for Thailand. Many nearby countries do not provide that option.. If minivans are the issue fly out and back from Thailand. Simple option. Or fly to Udon Thani and take short drive to NK . You can also obtain a 30 day extension to your 60 day stamp from METV entries. One per entry. Too many options.

Since covid Vietnam have changed visa options considerably. For example previously there was 3 month multi entry tourist visa. Currently not available. Also no entry via air requires eVisa (online application)

He is just misusing few terms. He obtained a non O retirement shortly after his 50 birthday and 2 months later obtained the 12 month extension. Calling the 12 month extension "retirement visa"

Sounds just another post self entitled person. My point was that you are very lucky to have the options that Thailand provides. Example visa exempt entry. Just chose a nearby country such as Vietnam. Being Canadian you would require a Visa. Currently only visa would be a single entry 30 day tourist visa. Spare me sob story about border runs in a mini van.

All Canadian citizens need a visa for any trip to Vietnam. The evisa is a simple process. Process time 3 business days. You receive an email and print out visa details. Cost $25 usd. Not required to bring anything. For flight back to Thailand you will need an onward flight if returning visa exempt. Take a close read of the OP in this thread that I posted earlier and again here. I am referring specifically to expats living in Thailand ongoing for example on continuous extensions etc. They (in the main) have a place of residence. That is reflected in which immigration office they deal with. 90 day reports etc. Previously those folk if stayed away from their residence even for a night (in another province) had to file a TM30 upon return. That of course also included travel out of Thailand and back. This was changed in 2020. That is no longer required. If for example they exit Thailand and return using reentry permit or multi entry visa then NO TM30 is required. If they exit and reenter on a new visa or visa exempt and returned to usual place of residence then a TM30 IS required.

Kasikorn to mention just one bank has a phone line directed to excellent English speaking person. When attending a k bank branch the clerk will dial that on company phone and hand it to you. Having said that.....I don't think I have ever been into a bank where they didn't have someone that could assist using English. Where did you try and open the account.

You can go anytime. Couple of weeks prior to expiry of current permit is common. Your 60 day extension will start from expiry of current permission not from day of application

Many Agents use Bangkok Bank. Fortunately when using WISE for transfers, Bangkok Bank is one of only 3 Thai banks that has limit of 2million baht per transfer. Other banks have 50k limit per transfer.

Rules that are/should be applied according to Thai immigration law and not determined by some random clerk in a uniform. As posted earlier the law pertaining to TM30 was modified (changed) in June 2020. The particular section is 2.2 I'm aware of "their rules" let's have them apply them uniformly.

Sorry but not going to read whole thread again. You should not have done a TM30 at HH. The new rules (June 2020) mean that you do not need to file a TM30 when you return to your place of residence. However some immigration offices are not abiding to new rule. Think CM is one. Guess everyone needs to be aware of what their own immigration office requires. In recent months I have been to various provinces and today back from Pattaya. Few weeks ago Saigon etc etc. A TM30 is not required when I return to Bangkok.

Make a report. See how it goes.
