Clearly you are not studying Thai language. To exit and reenter with permit is possible. This question comes up when some folks with non Ed need to exit and reenter. Normally for short periods such as couple of weeks. Even then it's recommended that you have letter from school. I agree with your agent. See out current visa and then consider next move. BTW find this statement weird. "My personal stay history been here about 5 years on various visas ( like every kind you can obtain) I'm retired but under 50" So here 5 years and this is your first post!! Serious. If here that long you would know answers to your post.

Help requested- Long stay Thailand.
DrJack54 replied to Scouse123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That has been suggested by several including myself. You stated .... "...simple enough if you can help out on someone’s post… if not skip to the next article to avoid the itch to fester…" Most of the posts have been constructive. Personally I think the friend of OP is kidding himself. Does not wish to "tie up 800k" On top of that has monthly income of 50k . Good luck with that. His best plan would have been to do 65k monthly transfers for 12 months prior to applying for non retirement inside Thailand. Bit of a lame thread imo. -
Confused re 45 day VOE
DrJack54 replied to rogerpattaya's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Laugh emoji to my post above from whoever just shows ignorance. I flew out Thailand and back for 7 years every month prior to covid and have had my pp scrutinized every time for visa or reentry permit. Almost all of those flights were with AirAsia carrier. Have discussed this with AA staff few times. -
Confused re 45 day VOE
DrJack54 replied to rogerpattaya's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
There is the problem. On Feb 13 ...I flew back from Saigon to DMK with Nok Air. For boarding pass the clerk was searching through my pp. (I new what she was looking for) I asked for pp back and took her to page with reentry permit. I asked "what you looking" Long story short I made the effort to ask "what if I no visa or reentry permit" In very good English she replied.. "Need flight out Thailand " Very sick of these threads. You were lucky. -

He would be doing non O retirement in Thailand. Most immigration offices will require 800k in his Thai bank. He is UK and embassy does not provide "income letter" Combo method will not work for OP friend for the non O as well as the extension. -

DrJack54 replied to Scouse123's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That's correct. The OP stated this.... "He is currently on a 45 day entry free clearance as a UK resident" He is not in position to use and form of income/combo method. Also does not wish to commit 800k to Thai bank. Also some immigration offices do not accept combo method. Agent or lost cause. -

No need to use the reentry permit. No ramifications. -
Confused re 45 day VOE
DrJack54 replied to rogerpattaya's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Same reply I gave the previous bloke. The airline MAY require proof of onward flight. There are many report of it not being asked for and MANY where it is required. Actually pretty amazed that it was not required from KL with AirAsia. It's usually these short haul flights where low cost airlines require the onward flight. -

Shipping personal items from UK to Thailand
DrJack54 replied to RandolphGB's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
This comes up in general topics. Here some threads.... https://aseannow.com/topic/1224301-import-taxes-relocating-on-non-imm-o-visa-ship-household-items-to-thailand/ https://aseannow.com/topic/639198-shipping-household-items-to-thailand-how-much-duty-did-you-pay/ https://aseannow.com/topic/988245-importing-personal-effects-to-thailand-where-is-the-line-for-personal-vs-business/ EDIT: Sorry OP just noticed you are talking about FEW personal items. In that case fly with them as check in luggage. Think you can pay for a Lot of extra kg -
What 90 visa are you referring to. Non O retirement/marriage? That is an option. So is 60 day tourist visa with 30 day extension. Don't be concerned about not being able to obtain the extension. No problem with that. You would not extend "once you arrive".......best to obtain extension with couple of weeks remaining on the 60 day stamp.

Try that it Bangkok. For TDL they require a certificate of residence or embassy letter. -
first time border run, via plane, vietnam?
DrJack54 replied to dj230's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Depends on history of staying in Thailand. You need to compare oranges with oranges Also refused entry does not have a formula. -
Extension of 45 day exemption.
DrJack54 replied to fulhamster's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes 2 visa exempt per calendar year via border crossing visa exempt entry. He will not save 1900 baht. The border bounce will be far more expensive and time consuming.. Also depends on his location. Yes it's an option. -
How soon can I get a visa extension.
DrJack54 replied to Bazerino's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You ran into a clerk on a power trip. There have been numerous reports of obtaining 30 day extensions at many immigration offices including Jomtien even much earlier than 2 weeks prior.
