Non O via based on marriage in Singapore?
DrJack54 replied to sikishrory's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That would not be acceptable. You require 400k in Thai bank account in your name for 2 months etc as outlined previously. -
Your all set. Apply for your non O with 15+ days remaining on your current permission of stay.
-
No need to cancel anything. Use your covid extension permit to give you time to organize bank account (if you don't currently have one). Also to prepare for having 400k in bank on day of your application for non O marriage. You can obtain the non O at immigration.

Non O via based on marriage in Singapore?
DrJack54 replied to sikishrory's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Just to be clear.... The ME non O visa is obtained outside of Thailand. Previously a popular place to obtain this was Savannakhet. A multi entry visa valid for a year with 90 permit each entry. An extension to a non O based on marriage is different. The 12 month extension requires 400k in a Thai bank account for 2 months prior to application. Also there is an under consideration period and best to maintain funds in the account until you receive the final stamp. Your next extension after that is wash repeat funds in bank for 2 months prior etc.... This requires no exit from Thailand. If you wish to exit and reenter you purchase a reentry permit. 1000 baht single and 3800 multiple. As for the bank account your embassy can provide letter.. IMO more easy to use agent. -
Non O via based on marriage in Singapore?
DrJack54 replied to sikishrory's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
First up it's best to use an agent to assist with bank account if someone is on visa exempt or tourist visa entry. Quick process and not expensive. As for the 400k note that it only needs to be in bank on day of application for your non O. Assuming that you would also apply for 12 month extension the funds need to be in bank for 2 months prior to application and the under consideration period. Impossible? Then that's an issue. -

The OP was at arrivals lounge. Entering thailand. No reason to update a bankbook. Can only assume that he imagined it may be required at passport control. It would not be. Perhaps he was entering visa exempt and thought he might require bankbook reflecting current balance. Who knows. -
Transferring visa stamps to new passport
DrJack54 replied to skillboy88's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Perhaps a misunderstanding. You can travel internationally with both passports in your possession if for example the reentry permit in old pp has not been transferred.. -

Do you have a Thai bank account? Enter visa exempt. Plop 400k in your Thai bank. Obtain your non O marriage at immigration. -

Transferring visa stamps to new passport
DrJack54 replied to skillboy88's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
How does that work for you when, for example you require a residence certificate and your immigration office wants to charge you. See how it works out for you, example at Mueang Thong Thani where you pay 200baht. Or many other offices that have a "service fee". It's a free service BTW. -
Obtaining a tourist visa in Phnom Pehn right now?
DrJack54 replied to bkk7's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
OP, ...It's a difficult situation. Prior to covid people were being rejected entry into Thailand with history of continuous stay in los. PP had reports of returning pp with tourist visa in pp with "cancelled stamp". At some stage various consulates were imposing a limit of 2 tourist visas. Personally I would try and obtain a TV while in PP rather than return visa exempt. It's best to use an agent in Phnom Penh for visa. For others in similar situation, thinking a longer stay outside of Thailand is a good plan. -
To obtain any extension there are requirements for each application. A 60 day extension to visit wife has some basic required docs. 12 month extension has a lot more. Apart from financials they have many requirements. These need to be shown every year you apply for extension.. Are you looking for 12 month extension or just 60 days? Have a read of this thread. Ubonjoe clearly outlines what's required for 60 day extension to visit wife.

Covid extensions after March 25?
DrJack54 replied to JoseThailand's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Covid extensions should continue untill land borders are open. They will announce their extension most likely 24 March. Just one person's opinion. -
Sounds like you have a ME non O visa valid for a year. That visa allows you stay of 90 days. Then you must exist Thailand. Keep in mind that you can obtain a 60 day extension to visit wife every entry. In that 90 day period you can apply for 12 month extension based on marriage (not clear if your married) For extension based on retirement you would require 800k (retirement) in Thai bank account for 2 months prior to day of application. You would apply with at least 15 days remaining on your permission of stay stamp. You do not need to wait till end of your non O ME visa. Just apply for 12 month extension.

Transferring visa stamps to new passport
DrJack54 replied to skillboy88's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As I have stated several times. Transfer of stamps is done without charge. Some immigration offices do charge. Which part don't you understand. Did you even read the thread. Here is one post.... "All of it is the fiefdom of your local IMO.....Mine cost 500BT and took 10 minutes, stamp all in passport..." Time for ignore. -

Please stick to the topic. Transfer of stamps should incur zero charge At some immigration offices they will impose a "service charge". End of story. -
Transferring visa stamps to new passport
DrJack54 replied to skillboy88's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I deal with CW. There is no charge for stamp transfer. By all means, stick to your guns. A residence certificate at CW is 200 baht. At some offices much more. At some it's free. I go with the flow. Happy you saved 400baht. Good win for you. How much do you pay to enter national parks? 200 baht or you ask for receipt. -

Congratulations you challenged immigration over a 500 baht spurious charge. That's a huge win. Hopefully more will follow your courageous front. -

I feel your pain. The charge is zero, however if I was in your situation I would fork over the 500baht Some call us jellyfish. I prefer to accept it and enjoy my life here.
