  1. Perhaps CM Immigration would not issue you a COR.
  2. And that will only be realized when the funds are sent back to Oz . Meaning not living in Thailand any more. If for example you continue living in Thailand and eg use an agent then the 800b is same value as previously for use in Thailand. In any event agree to disagree. We going off topic to some extent
  3. Do not understand that at all. The funds kept in Thai bank account do nothing. The appreciation against foreign currencies is cash in when? When you stop living in Thailand and can cease need for funds in bank. They have to be maintained to live in Thailand. Obvious alternative would be agent On the other hand funds kept in shares etc are earning approx 8%
  4. Bottom line is that COR is required to obtain TDL (including renewal) At the time of applying for COR you require address confirmation. A TM30 should be sufficient. Ask hotel to supply.
  5. You have tourist status and that will provide 2 yr licience. You are misunderstanding "residence certificate" You can obtain a "certificate of residence" from immigration even with tourist status. That does not mean you have Permanent Resident status. To renew your TDL you will need to obtain a COR from immigration.
  6. Off topic: assume you have visited Saigon. Good distance airport to district 1 Bui Vien. Can't go wrong. Lovely joint.
  7. I will leave it there. Your experience is certainly atypical imo. Only posting to advise others that typically more docs are required. Here is random report of extension retirement CW. Excellent OP re details. https://aseannow.com/topic/1322171-extension-of-visa-for-retirement-at-cw/
  8. My guess is bit longer however if the eVisa for Thailand can be obtained in say 5 that will become a good option for eg Non O. Laos eVisa for Thailand does not even have online payment at this point. "Good Morning Vietnam"
  9. Many folk plan to be visiting long term in Thailand. Some spending many months per year in Thailand without a Non O . Complicated even further now with 5yr DTV which is a "special class" tourist visa. A 5 yr TDL would suit those groups.
  10. You have me by few years however in recent times I have had more issues with CW. Couple of years ago they demanded 12 month bank statement reason given was that there were two months without any transactions. Never an issue for the 10 years prior. They have always required bank book up date on day of application. Along with deposit to show "activity" Last one the doc check chicks were demanding my TM47. I showed my appointment for TM47 after extension and they let it go. Can continue.... Here is recommended list for others at CW. https://aseannow.com/applications/core/interface/file/attachment.php?id=994308&key=48e6446663c25875e8e67f40b65455c0 Best of luck with your future extensions.
  11. No offense but without details I just disregard those accounts. Perhaps she obtain it in Khao San Road.
  12. So nothing related to address of where you live. No lease or TM30 or TM47 No hand drawn map. No bank book update on day of application. Amazing.
  13. What did you provide regarding "address"? Rental agreement or...,
  14. Think most folk complain about the 800k locked in Thai bank with extremely low interest are those aware of concept of opportunity cost. My super fund (cBus) has the following returns since inception.. Meaning loss of ~65k/yr. In addition the funds in Thai bank cannot be used to live off or for such things as medical emergency. By contrast the Non O marriage has very sweet financial requirements. Historical returns % (crediting rate) to 30 June 2024 1 year 8.35% 5 years p.a. 6.43% 10 years p.a. 7.73% Since inception p.a. 8.87%
  15. Some things require a "certificate of residence" such as obtaining a TDL or purchase/sale of motor vehicle or opening a bank account etc There are some immigration offices that do this for free. Some eg CW charge 200b which includes mailing out the COR EMS. You state...."If no receipt how is the flow of money accounted for?" Answer: It's not.
  16. Yes seems common requirement now. Previously I never ever supplied TM30 for anything at CW. Now I take one for annual extension. BTW: For anyone wanting a report for extension retirement (CW) here is one with good OP. @scoutman360 https://aseannow.com/topic/1330696-non-o-retirement-extension-trip-report-chaengwattana/
  17. Are you asking a question or outlining a strategy. Unless there is extensive history in Thailand with visa exempt ongoing then best to enter via air visa exempt. Currently there is no stated limit to border bounces however without an agent the border crossings are now demanding certain things. Such as 1-2 night stay. Air ticket out of the within 60. Some proof of accommodation. Even the very friendly (previously) Nong Khai are now requesting a 1-2 night stay. If someone is in home country they could consider METV eVisa. DTV also an option
  18. I was not referring to obtaining que # In fact I used BSR bikes after covid to do exactly that. At that time there was a quota on number of tickets for non Thai per day. I attended Transport office (chatuchak) Bangkok at 7.30am and sure enough the agent employee greeted me and when slots were starting to be issued I was given #1. That's not what the thread is about.
  19. You could consider a Non O retirement as that does not have the insurance requirement.
  20. That is a pain. Be aware to read some thread regarding border bounces if you plan one to extend your stay. Some borders are requiring a 1-2 night stay
  21. If you are located in Bangkok contact FatBoys or BSR Bikes. BSR has USA guy manager so easy conversation for any questions
  22. Thanks for update. Bit surprised they took the TM30 since you provided a TM47. Seems TM30 is the flavor of the month with immigration.. BTW my last 2 COR took 5 days.
  23. Thanks for report. Disappointing that you also require a flight out. When it was in person a flight to Thailand was required. No onward flight. Had you planned to obtain 30 day extension in Thailand?
  24. The correct process is to obtain a 2 yr TDL. Within 2 months prior to expiry the window opens for renewal. To obtain a 5 yr TDL you need a Non O. With a tourist status you would receive a 2 yr TDL. Be aware that expired licenses can still be renewed up to one year after expiry. BTW do you have a driving license from home country? Regarding IDP here is a thread. Why the interest. You wishing to drive in another country? https://aseannow.com/topic/1327170-international-driving-license-with-thailand-driving-license/
