Also Thailand typically does not have a 'blame culture', where a culprit must be found for any misadventure. There is a more fatalistic acceptance of things going wrong, less public clamour for accountability.

I was there in January and February this year and didn't really enjoy it as much as before, on my next trip I think I'll spend more time in the Big Mango or somewhere quiet where you can relax and meditate ... like a cave in Chiang Rai.
Not too funny

Not sure what a four lane road is in Thailand . If it is 4 lanes each way and the dogs are in the middle swerving left would have been the thing to do , no head on, if it means 2 lanes each way same applies. You can only go left if the dogs are in the middle I think

The PM also confirmed that the country’s justice system will remain intact and respectable as there is no ill attempt to manipulate the process.

Remember where we are. Only tourists will get fined. It is like the fine for littering on Sukhumvit in Bangkok, only foreigners.
Of course the easy way is to not have a platform at the sides at the back just a simple one person wide step. The "wings" could be legislated to be cut off existing vehicles and not allowed on new ones. Then at least maximum only one person hanging off the back?

Put a DESCO or similar over pressure/free flow dive helmet/air hat (water cannot get it and very difficult to pull off) on the boys, sedate them and have Navy Seals and other qualified professional take them out one at a time.
Yes I think mild sedation is the way to go will maybe stop panic attacks at least.
i don’t know anything about helmets but they should be used as well. Good luck to all anyway

I thought that it was pretty decent of the Thai officials to do this. Robert Harper doesn't do the voluntary work for money or recognition, he does it because he's a decent human being and I suspect he enjoys the technical challenge posed ... we all salute you Mr Harper!
Let's hope the kids all get out safely and soon.
Very well said
