  1. I think any impact strong enough to damage an EV battery pack would probably be strong enough to write off an ICE vehicle.
  2. I think there is a lesson here on how you visit Thailand. You can't just wander in and out without a proper visa, normal tourists don't do that. There are other more appropriate visa's for people who want to come and go regularly, if you are coming and going regularly without a proper visa, the IO has discretion to ruin your trip. Follow the system and do what's expected of you.
  3. Imagine a piece of cheese fell off the moon and smashed into the road and you drove over it and damaged your battery pack, definitely a risk these darn EV's,
  4. If I sold it in the first year I could have sold it at a profit. Waiting list was 12-18 months at the time.
  5. I came close to a claim, I called them out when someone grazed my back bumper, both insurance companies attended promptly, the other party denied it even though there was CCTV evidence. Roojai said without the other party admitting guilt they would repair the damage but it would class as an at fault claim, they called it knock for knock, I told them to forget it and I would pay for it myself.
  6. It's a fact that the anti EV people don't have EV's Those with EV's tend to love them. One group is largely ignorant, the other tempered by experience.
  7. Or maybe LEMON platform vehicle owners will lose their zest for EV's when they are squeezed by the dealers because they have run out of juice? Taking the Pisps and leave them feeling sour?
  8. Roojai, download the app or find it on the web.
  9. I think there are a few legacy models that the manufacturer has modded to make them EV, but mostly they are designed from the ground up to only be EV. GWM/Haval are built on the LEMON platform, I throw that because I thought you would find it amusing.
  10. You mean...he drove it? I'm shocked. Most people refuel at home overnight, but there are charging stations in every city. In the UK, most EV's are purchased by companies with a massive cost saving to both the company and the driver in terms of benefit-in-kind. I would suggest you are clutching at straws.
  11. Actually, the battery is stored in the middle of the vehicle, below the passenger compartment.
  12. You can use different, accounting principles, in my case, I also installed Solar for the house before I bought an EV, and I charge up my EV, only on sunny days, when the electricity would normally go to waste. On cloudy days where I only have enough Solar to run the house, I don’t charge the EV. In marginal accounting terminology, the power for my EV is free.
  13. Yes, very relevant, I do that trip twice a week
  14. Chiang Rai, not Chiang Mai.
  15. I wonder how many of our EV owners suffer range anxiety? I certainly don't. Incidentally, nobody is going to install a fast charger where there is no mobile phone signal, they communicate to their servers over a mobile signal. I wonder what EV experience you have that makes you find range anxiety is real and completely justified?
  16. Probably much higher as some of the Volvo, Mercedes, Lexus, Lotus, Porsche and BMW orders will be EV's.
  17. I'm happy to accommodate any travelers to Chiang Rai who want this, it will just cost you dinner
  18. What the figures are saying is that people want EV's, the legacy automakers must be sh?tt?ng themselves.
  19. I have no idea what the asterisk is for, but I am unsurprised with Tesla's sales results. There's no 150k THB subsidy, and whilst the rest of the world has had a multitude of price cuts over the last year, we haven't. Why would anyone buy an expensive Model 3 when the BYD Seal is cheaper and, in many ways, better.
  20. Thank you, I have already made contact, though I want to do a test first with some printed paper on my mirror to see if my old eyes will focus on something close without removing my driving glasses, I suspect they may not. Lane Keeping Assist is wrongly labeled on the MG too, it should be called LKY, Lets Kill You.
  21. Range/Fuel Anxiety is an issue for all new owners too, until they make a long journey and start noticing all the charging stations, then it's a non-issue.
  22. Yes I am very interested, I can't find anything on the web, can I have contact details and I will ask them where it is? I am now next in the queue for my Seal, hopefully next week, though I am away in Vietnam all next week.
  23. Thank you kindly Sir, please make it a British one, an Australian one is lost on me…
  24. I usually post from a position of experience, not ignorant guesswork . I am sorry if that left foots you.
  25. Louis Roederer Millesime Cristal in a Stuart Crystal Glencoe flute. At most of our ages, the lead in old crystal is unlikely to make much difference.
