There's no VAT currently. I explained the tax situation very clearly for (say) BitKub if you are tax resident here. I'm aware some people dispute this because they are ignorant of the tax situation. Thailand Cryptocurrency Income Personal Tax - SHERRINGS The issue with Coinbase-UK bank-Thai bank is you could incur a CGT liability in the UK if you're a British Citizen, your UK bank should ask questions if it's over 10,000 GBP due to AML, when you bring it into a Thai bank, if you're tax resident you still have a liability here in Thailand even though you're bringing FIAT (overseas capital gains are subject to PIT here when remitted unless following year with LTR visa).

You misunderstand the nature of crypto. You can't "spend" it in Thailand, it's illegal to pay or receive payment for goods or services in Crypto. You need an off-ramp to Thai Baht. That means an exchange, all of them in Thailand practice KYC and you incur up to 35% tax liability. If you are a UAE or Singaporean resident it helps, no crypto tax there, but fundamentally you bring crypto or FIAT to Thailand, the former all counts towards Personal Income Tax.

My promotion expires end of December 2026, maybe they extended it because of the other promotion. But you’re right, I will only be able to use a fraction of it, though it does make me think about driving to Khao Lak instead of flying
-
I am hoping they don't extend the free charging promotion. I have 30,000 THB free charging credit for introducing another customer and the only place I want to use it is when I drive to Chiang Mai to see my daughters. I'm not prepared to queue for an hour to then be only able to share the charger with someone else. I may also do a road-trip next year but not if I have to take pot-luck whether I can charge or not. There is no point in me charging my car at BYD in Chiang Rai as most of the time one or two of my grid-tied inverters shut down because we are producing more solar power than can be used.

Nothing that a plethora of stupid emoji's can't fix.

Sorry you are wrong, Tax is paid under PIT rates, it could be as high as 35%. if you bought your coins on a authorized Thai exchange, then you pay personal income tax on the profit. If you bought your coins on a foreign or unauthorized exchange, then you pay personal income tax on the entire sale amount. I'm not posting what I think to be the case, I'm posting what I know to be the case.

Electric Vehicles in Thailand

Don't go for a 3 phase 16 amp charger, it will only charge at 3.6Kw on single phase, go for the 22Kw 3 phase charger to get 7Kw single phase. -

150Kw is for DC Charging when you're out on the road, it's probably about 500 volts or so. Very few cars have 22Kw AC charging ability, it's an option on Porsche and Audi equivalents but it's about 100,000 baht option. 11Kw AC is becoming quite popular and standard on many cars. I just checked, the Sealion 7 is 11Kw AC Charging, I think we will see that on new model Seals when we get them. -

Using a 3rd party charger doesn't negate your warranty as you do it in shopping malls, hotels etc and the car makes all the decisions. I charge to 100% roughly once a month or 2 months. Mostly I charge to about 50%. BYD advise you to do it weekly, that is to calibrate the SoC indicator, I don't believe it's to balance the cells, I think balancing occurs during charging and discharging. If it wasn't for MG we would probably never have heard about balancing cells. I'm comfortable with an inaccurate SoC indicator, if I'm making a long journey I charge to 100%. Most expert thinking is that degradation is accelerated in line with SoC, though I'm aware of one report that disagrees. What I have said is for LFP battery chemistry. -

Some cars can charge at 11Kw on 3 phase, I think I read the new Sealion does. I would definitely buy the 3 phase 22Kw wall box that's capable of 7Kw single phase. I think we will see more and more cars with 11Kw charging capability, the Seal in other markets can for example. -
What's going on in the Car Industry ? Carmageddon !
JBChiangRai replied to CharlieH's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Very informative, his statement at the end is wrong, I think Thailand is the most attractive country for China to sell EV's, the UK maybe comes second because it still has tariffs albeit a lot smaller than the EU and US. -

Some wall chargers do know the SoC (State of Charge) of the battery, so it follows a wall charger could stop charging at 80%, however, I've never seen that facility on a wall charger, maybe some have it. -

There is something in the young male psyche, it's the thrill of speed together with an unwavering overestimation of their skill. We have all seen the young guys speeding past us, weaving in and out without a care in the world. It's always boys, it's never girls. Three times my daughters came home from school to tell me one of the classmates killed himself on a motorcycle, and one of them was exactly this type of accident, up the back of a parked truck. His parents bought him a Kawasaki Ninja 400. My daughter had one too, but she drove it like a girl, I don't think she ever discovered it had a power band. One look at the tyres and you could see she never drove it fast. When I bought them their first scooters I took them down to the Government hospital, walked them through A&E and took them to the ward to see all the young guys there. I like to think it made a difference.
