  1. Smart sanctions should get the message across. Hit starlink, Tesla, Facebook, Amazon. The Billionaires funding Trump and who have his ear.
  2. Let’s park the national pride for a moment, be honest and admit American cheese is only fit for rat traps.
  3. Supply and demand is only one part of the equation. Oh and ‘supply’ needs workers to deliver the supply.
  4. I have already answered your questions and provided an explanation with why your simplistic view is precisely that, simplistic. I even provided a link to an explanation of the more significant issues impacting housing. —- If corporate taxes were eliminated there would be an even bigger growth in the wealth distribution gap fueled by the National deficit and cuts to public services, welfare, social security, Medicare/Medicaid, infrastructure, education, disaster support etc. Try to work out which side of that equation you are on.
  5. I recall dead cats, and crows, being hung on farm gates, left there by farmers and game keepers who would shoot them as vermin. There is no arguing cats are a treat to wildlife.
  6. This is a very good point. I spend most of my time in the U.S. in NY, specifically in Westchester County, an affluent district with first class schools, medical facilities, though very high housing costs. One need only drive forty or fifty miles West or North out into the more rural districts from Westchester and affluence picture changes dramatically, house prices plummet, public facilities are more basic and the number of late model cars seen declines. People are struggling. What’s more stark is that this negative gradient of affluence has increased markedly over the past thirty years. Blue collar workers and increasingly the middle class are having the fruits of their labour stripped from them and passed up to the Billionaires now unquestionably running America.
  7. 1. Increasing the number of people drives up prices of housing if they are buying houses. If they are not buying houses, and for example living in multi occupancy accommodation that is not housing in the market and there has no impact on house prices. I’m sure you are aware the common practice of immigrants sharing often very crowded multi occupancy accommodation. There other far more impactful issues, refer link below. 2. Not necessarily. I linked examples of corporations that are paying zero or very near zero corporation taxes. 2A. Tax breakers given to corporations during Trump’s first term were often used to fatten corporate accounts and share buy backs. Do no there is no simplistic link between population and house prices, nor is there a simplistic link between corporate taxes and retail prices. https://www.jchs.harvard.edu/blog/role-recent-immigrant-surge-housing-costs https://www.commondreams.org/news/corporate-stock-buybacks-after-trump-tax-cuts https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0165188923000283
  8. Precisely the message the Oligarchs who own the media and are now in Trump’s administration want you to believe and spread.
  9. I absolutely advocate returning to the EU. Starter’s moves are not clandestine, they are widely reported and widely discussed, including by Starmer and the Labour Party. I have no expectation that returning to the EU will occur in this Parliament, but it will increasingly climb in the political discourse. It will happen once the Tories are back to their senses.
  10. It needs to get a move on if it is going to do so. It’s February already.
  11. The only thing on the BREXIT ballot was leave the EU or remain in the EU. You might recall the Leave Campaign proposing a range of ‘deals’, notably the ‘Norway Model’ that would allow the UK to remain in European Economic Area while leaving the EU. Any mention of such deals evaporated immediately the result was announced and the Tories went for the most damaging BREXIT they could get away with. Reversing that damage is an obvious path to improving the UK economy.
  12. I think you’ll find it was the same Thatcher you mentioned earlier that closed down the UK’s coal mines. Flooding is what happens when the pumps are switched off. Pumps being switched off is what happens when mines close.
  13. There is a gaping flaw in the article’s logic. UK energy users pay the world market price for oil and gas. New supplies from fracking and offshore drilling will not be cheaper to UK users, those supplies too would be charges at world market prices. Renewables on the other hand are not charged at world market prices and are reducing the UK’s reliance on imported energy.
  14. And other studies demonstrate men to be more prone to reckless and dangerous behaviors. Nobody gets a pilot’s license without completing the training passing the exams and getting he assessments. Let’s not pretend otherwise.
  15. Millions of Americans care about their 401K, millions more care about inflation. Trump supporters on this forum have until very recently been fixated on inflation, their concern on the matter seems to have suddenly evaporated.
  16. The UK needs to remove the barriers placed on the UK economy by the madness of BREXIT, joining the Pan-Euro-Mediterranean Convention will be a step in the right direction, rejoining the EU Customs Union a much better option to reverse the damage done. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cqld2n5k733o
  17. Trump’s tariffs lunacy is very quickly getting to the ‘fund out’ stage, DOW futures are down 550. Tariffs on the oil America needs, that’ll work. The price of eggs has not gone down.
  18. You clearly can’t find where I claimed so took deductions, because I didn’t. What matters is your false claim and your insinuation when making it that I was lying. We both know I was not. So where’s your apology?
  19. And then there’s this: “Half of homicides and half of acquisitive crimes are drug related” https://www.apccs.police.uk/ten-years-of-pccs-making-a-difference/addictions-and-substance-misuse/#:~:text=Half of homicides and half, linked to misuse of alcohol.
  20. So you don’t have any quote from me saying I take tax deductions. We have at least confirmed who the liar is.
  21. Lots of people have the skills and ability to do jobs for which staff are hired. The fact that any particular group is over represented in jobs proportional to the make up of society in general is a clear indication of appointments being made on criteria other than just suitability for the post.
