Truth bomb: walz older brother is 100% opposed to all his ideology
Lacessit replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
Sibling rivalry is a well-known phenomenon, very common in families with more than one child. Most frequent in the 10-15 age group, when one or both are dealing with puberty. Some people reconcile, others never resolve the conflict To me, this whole thread is a nothing burger. Truth bomb? More like a damp squib. -
Truth bomb: walz older brother is 100% opposed to all his ideology

Not at all. The dumb posters are the ones who can't accept the facts, statistics, and data I post, and post their cockeyed beliefs in countervailing argument. A dumb poster is one who uses personal insults in lieu of genuine debate. How's that going for you? -
Trump was successful with "The Apprentice" . He got fired in 2015 by NBC after making remarks about Mexican immigrants, with left him without income to support his other failing enterprises. Trump started buying golf courses in 1999. By the time he started his run for President, the Trump organization owned 17 golf courses. Nearly all of them lose money. He's an entertainer who is under the delusion he is a good businessman. His success there lies in grifting stupid people. Quite amazing the contrast with Zelensky, who morphed from a comedian to a statesman. OTOH, Trump reduced the status of himself and America in the eyes of the world.

Trump Intensifies Attacks on Harris as Race Heats Up
Lacessit replied to CharlieH's topic in Political Soapbox
Post a link which shows Russian propaganda supporting Harris, or condemning Trump. Here's one of about half a dozen. https://www.politico.eu/article/russia-punching-bag-joe-biden-us-elections-2024-washington-kremlin-propaganda-moscow/ Try not lying yourself. Isn't it time to change identities again? You have no credibility in this one. -

I do. When you were a kid, did you enjoy pricking balloons? I deflate egos of dumb posters. -

Correct grammar would use an apostrophe, in "Walz's lies". If you want to contract "I am" to "I'm" an apostrophe is used there too. "likesome" is two words. Honestly, you trolls are just too funny, the way you keep planting your feet on banana skins. -

I have a life. I search for intelligent life on ASEAN. Sometimes I get lucky. -

You are a MAGA supporter. Presumably you have relatives, although that is a scary thought in itself. Self-realization is a wonderful thing. -
Trump's Political Strategy: Shifting Blame for Afghanistan to Harris
Lacessit replied to Social Media's topic in World News
How do you cover sympathetically for a felon who bangs porn stars, cheats contractors, calls fallen soldiers suckers and losers, grifts sneakers and Bibles, and claims he has the biggest crowds? Who has 91 criminal indictments waiting in the wings? The media can only report the facts it gets. Nothing to do with nasty. If I wrote Trump up as a Hollywood scriptwriter and submitted it for making a film, every producer would be kicking me out of their offices, for being too preposterous. Perhaps Bollywood might be interested. Hard to say whether it would be comedy, tragedy or dystopian. Black comedy anyone? -

How short are the memories of Trumpers, their cognitive biases on full display....... -
Is the OP fluent in Thai? IMO a waste of time otherwise. There are plenty of massage shops in Chiang Rai with women who fit his specifications, I daresay it's the same in every city. They would need to know their projected earnings would be substantially more than they would get, just staying put in high season.

You may be right. Ad hominem argument seems to dominate political discourse.

Trump's Political Strategy: Shifting Blame for Afghanistan to Harris

Trump liked to say he only picked the best people......... -
AFAIK the TEALs have been a moderating force in Australian politics, and have brought about numerous amendments to legislation. They do not hold the balance of power. The major parties, however, are sh!tting themselves that they may well do in future governments, because they strongly represent their electorates, and are not party hacks.
-
"No compromises allowed". Isn't that America's problem in a nutshell? Isn't that what Trump did with the bipartisan border legislation? No compromise allowed?
-
You can't read the link I put in the OP?

We have plenty of sun in Australia. South Australia generates about 65% of its electrical energy from renewables, target 100% by 2027. Hornsdale battery stores 150 MW You have 4 deserts in the USA. While there are some major projects in the Mojave and Sonoran, they are still under construction. Guess who has been dragging their feet? The USA gets wind 24/7. It's otherwise known as domestic politics.
-
A major policy plank of the TEALs is acknowledging climate change as real, and a pressing issue. I narrowly avoided spraying coffee all over my keyboard. The thought of Trump as a warrior for the environment had me choking.
-
In 2022, there was a sea-change in Australian politics - the rise of the TEALs., centrist politicians who are not beholden to either side of politics. The majority parties who want legislation passed now have to convince them of the merits of their proposals. IMO both sides of politics in America can agree - the country is completely polarized. The TEALs were successful because they appealed to voters on both sides who thought the major parties were ignoring their concerns, or taking them for granted. Perhaps they are what America needs. Notably, the TEALs who were successful at the ballot box are all women. https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2022/may/23/teal-independents-who-are-they-how-did-they-upend-australia-election

Unfortunately, there are too many examples where innocent people have been executed. Perhaps the leading example is Timothy Evans in the UK. The real murderer, Christie, was the leading witness in Evans's trial. I agree with the death penalty only if the evidence is overwhelming and incontrovertible, with a unanimous jury verdict. Proponents for the death penalty should read John Grisham's only non-fiction book, " An Innocent Man". Officers of the law who perpetrated that injustice with fabricated confessions had their careers left unscathed.

Further to the point of Secret Service accommodation while Trump plays golf, I thought this describes Trump's grift quite nicely...... even down to Melania's role.
-
It's on record Trump played golf over 300 times while President. Every time he did, it was at one of his golf courses. Usually Bedminster. His entire Secret Service detail was lodged and fed on those properties, which all had accommodation and restaurants. His normal security detail was enlarged. Golf courses are open space requiring more manpower to protect. It's a security nightmare. The Trump organization billed the US taxpayer for housing and feeding the Secret Service detail. The average cost was $800,000 per visit. If you don't understand the math of 300 X $800,000, I can't help you.

No. Not a chill, or a shill either.

I take the opposite view. Legalize everything, with the sole caveat committing a crime under the influence, gets treated as if the perpetrator were not. Police in Australia have said they can't arrest their way out of the meth problem. How many billions has the US spent on its war on drugs? What progress have they made? Making drugs legal accomplishes two things. It removes the criminal element, and the drugs should be safer because there is no longer profit in adulterating them. The data from countries who legalize drugs indicates crime rates are reduced substantially, because addicts no longer have to resort to crime to feed their habit. Just as there are functioning alcoholics, I am fairly sure there are functioning drug addicts. It's ironic, actually. Alcohol and tobacco are legal, yet AFAIK they are the only two substances given the status of Class 1 carcinogens.
