  1. IMO the best restaurant in Chiang Mai, is Le Coq D'Or, near the Nong Hoi market. Impeccable service, ambience and food, they even send a London taxi to pick up and return customers. I use it for special occasions, IIRC it's 2000 - 4000 baht PP, depending on what's ordered by way of wine and food. An honorable mention to Antonio's, off ChangKhlan Road. Very good osso buco and lamb shank, reasonably priced carafes of wine.
  2. I am thinking Trump will be desperate if he loses, and will probably try to overturn the result with violence. Or flee, to escape justice. Hypothetical scenario: Harris orders Trump to be arrested and detained, in the interest of public order. She has Presidential immunity to do so, thanks to Trump. Of course, the MAGA cult would be revolting. They usually are. Trump's prediction of a blood bath would come true.
  3. It's easy enough to check the polls. Do you expect to be spoon-fed on ASEAN? Seems to me it's the right-wing posters that are always squalling for links. Then, when they are posted, it's all left-wing garbage. Vance reminds me of a poodle trying to savage some pants, while behind him he's got Walz as a Doberman ripping him a new one.
  4. It's quite well known Trump regards soldiers and POW's as suckers and losers. He didn't want to join them.
  5. And Vance compared to Walz in opinion polls is like whale sh!t against an eagle's nest.
  6. I'm not the one living in a country where medications are bankrupting people. I'd say neither are you.
  7. Rubbish, Fox News and Breitbart are safe havens too. Have your predigested distortions served up on a platter.
  8. You claim to be a fence-sitter. Perhaps you can tell me when that actually achieved anything.
  9. I was unaware you had a second career in telepathy, I suggest more practice. As I said, master sergeant is an achievement. Vance got to be a combat correspondent. I doubt he was at the coal face in Iraq. He ended up a corporal, two steps below. Probably being in Iraq has the same cachet as a Muslim who has gone on hajj. Only important to the person themself, in reality. On balance, I would say Walz has a better public service record, and certainly makes more sense than Vance.
  10. I'll buy you a sense of humor for Christmas.
  11. IIRC you just played the education card, so you are a fine one to talk about ad hominem. You know nothing about me or what I have achieved. Not interested in a p!ssing contest.
  12. Personal attacks usually mean the poster has run out of logic or reason in their arguments.
  13. IMO it's time for you to roll out the tin foil hat, all those MSM conspiracy theories. Trump really missed a business opportunity - he could have made a motza out of gold foil hats, with the Trump and MAGA logos authenticating them. One ounce of gold can be beaten in to 9 square meters of leaf, that's an AI fact too.
  14. I had to work hard for my chemistry degree too. In hindsight, I think one of the smartest things I did was change jobs between industries, when I thought i had exhausted their possibilities. I was lower on the academic totem pole than a M.Sc or PhD. However, my experience was much broader than theirs. It served me well when I went into research, because I could think outside the square.
  15. command It's a classic case of quantity overwhelming quality. Back in my day, the hard sciences - physics, chemistry and biology - were regarded as the stepping stones to good jobs. Arts courses were for people who could not cut the mustard. Nowadays, it seems anyone can get a degree in flossing teeth, or making lace doilies.
  16. They vote for him because he makes them believe he will do something for them, when in fact he will throw them under a bus once they have served his purpose. How any unemployed, poorly educated person thinks giving tax cuts to billionaires assists them from the bottom of the ladder, is beyond my comprehension.
  17. I am not sure if your last sentence is undiluted sarcasm. When Trump picks anyone with integrity, it doesn't take very long before they are fired, and the abuse posts on Truth Social go feral.
  18. Wasn't he complaining during one of his rallies that the teleprompter was not working? No, he just talks about Hannibal Lecter, electric boats, sharks, and grabbing women by the pussy.
  19. The defamation statement was aimed at the two sergeants, not you.
  20. Apparently Newsweek has not employed fact checkers since 1996. On record as multiple reporting errors. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newsweek#Factual_errors
  21. I guess that's another deflection/evasion. I am not questioning your right to criticize. I am questioning the foundation you have laid for it. I do admire and respect people who serve in the military. Perhaps you should too. I don't know what relevance your last sentence has, except as a non-sequitur.
  22. Which proves what? They had a grudge against Walz? Noted you do not respond to my question on your own military experience. Now let's see - Trump evades military service due to bone spurs. Which do not seem to impede him from playing hundreds of rounds of golf. He calls fallen soldiers suckers and losers. He does not want to be seen with disabled veterans. The Biblical phrase about straining at a gnat, and swallowing a camel, springs to mind. I'm sure you'll find it in a Trump bible.
  23. Deflection, and possibly defamation. How do you know the two army sergeants had no axe to grind with Walz? I am not American. The proposition this thread is reserved for American posters only is egregiously stupid.
  24. Please tell us about your own military service, and the rank you attained, which gives you the right to pass judgment on others.
