Do you want President Harris to pardon Trump?
Lacessit replied to earlinclaifornia's topic in Political Soapbox
That's nice in theory. In practice, very few people trained in critical thinking, or how to evaluate data. How to ask the right questions. Climate change and global warming are good examples. 95% of scientists know the two are caused by human activity. The other 5% have a vested interest in denial, much like scientists who work in the tobacco and alcohol industry. When only 0.5% of the world's population are scientists, it's very easy to outnumber them on social media with scientifically illiterate posters. -

When I visited American steel companies in 1983, there was US Steel, Bethlehem Steel, Inland Steel, and LTV Steel. Back then, US steel employed 1800 researchers in Monroeville, PA Now, there is only US Steel left, and it is in merger talks with Nippon Steel. -
I see no need to change my GF of 14 years. If anything, our relationship gets better.

COVID demonstrated reliance on supply chains from potentially hostile areas is a bad idea. Most countries are looking to bring their manufacturing back in-house. Russia is an object lesson in what happens when the aviation industry no longer supplies parts and maintenance. i can remember my first visit to America over 40 years ago. I bought a pair of Florsheim shoes ( tan ) in San Francisco. The salesman said they would last me a lifetime, and they have. About 15 years later, I bought a pair of black Florsheim shoes in New Orleans. They wore out in about 8 years, and were much poorer quality. America lost its way on many world-class products. -

Er - I think the actual quote from Voltaire is: “I may not agree with what you have to say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.” The positioning of pronouns modifies the meaning somewhat. In fact, your quoted version is slightly nonsensical. Why would I want to repeat an opinion I disagree with? Be that as it may, I am pretty sure Voltaire did not envisage a person who spouted lies like a faucet, confected alternative facts, and incited his followers to overthrow a government. IIRC there's another saying. History is written by the victors. The difference is, Trump attempts to rewrite history when he loses. -
Do you want President Harris to pardon Trump?

AFAIK Trump is the only President who deliberately concealed the fact he had taken top secret papers, then lied about how many had been returned. Which led to the FBI raid. Your last sentence has me wondering what you are smoking. It's obvious to anyone with a couple of brain cells Cannon is as bent as a boomerang. -

You can't tell me Aileen Cannon dismissing the documents case is an example of the American legal system working well. -
Australian Aged Pension
Lacessit replied to VOICEOVER's topic in Australia & Oceania Topics and Events
I have always been confused by the two year rule. As I understand it, you HAVE to be in Australia on the date you become eligible for the pension. I had been in and out of Australia for years before and after becoming eligible for the pension. Its' portability was never in question. -

The Jan 6 insurrection, fake electors, and theft of top secret documents are all serious criminal matters. I suppose you are confirming how screwed up the American legal system is. In many countries, Trump would be in jail already.- 132 replies

Harris is a criminal prosecutor. Not too many around that are soft on crime, or issue pardons. Jailing Trump would send a clear message - time to end the BS.- 132 replies

Nobody really knows: (a) How Double Tax Agreements will be observed (b) Whether pensioners will need to submit a tax return, or simply have a tax number. (c) If a visa extension is contingent on having a tax number, and a tax return. It's a bit early to worry about rules the TRD has not even finalized yet.

If linings exist, they are only a stop-gap. The OP's gums have shrunk. The dentures need to be refitted.

Garbage Republicans Slither Out To Endorse Harris
Lacessit replied to DougieMax's topic in Political Soapbox
I am wondering how long the OP has been off his anti-psychotic meds. Far from being the garbage he claims, Republicans such as Romney, Pence etc. are honorable people, so revulsed by the prospect of a second Trump term, that they see Harris as the only viable alternative to a dictatorship. -
Next US President Will Wear The Grandaddy of Hoover Curses
Lacessit replied to DougieMax's topic in Political Soapbox
It's debatable whether he took a bullet, or got hit by debris. On balance of probabilities, more likely the latter. His reaction then was totally different to his reaction when Harris baited him on crowd sizes.. It's not for the money, and certainly not patriotism. What kind of patriot calls fallen soldiers suckers and losers? It's to stay out of jail. -

I'm sorry, DougieMax. Your OP missed the fact Donnie can't run anywhere. He's a convicted felon, has to serve any sentence first. I recommend Gaviscon for the heartburn. You'll need to see a doctor to have anti-psychotics prescribed. -
Trump Vows to Make Overtime Pay Tax-Free: ‘Finally Catch a Break’
Lacessit replied to Social Media's topic in World News
If she copies it, she adds to the deficit. There's no free lunch. Trump is all mouth, and no delivery. The Mexicans did not pay for any of his measly wall. COVID did not disappear. His great new healthcare plan never saw the light of day. He left office with more unemployed than when he started. Why are so many Americans so stupid, they will believe a failure as a President and human being will do better with a second chance? Why are they so gullible they think he will deliver on ANY election promise, when he is renowned for lying like a pig in sh!t? -

If a hourly employee wants to get ahead, they need to acquire skills which make them so valuable to the business they are offered salaried, secure employment instead. OT is only a band-aid. It's the first to go if there is a business downturn. The hourly/casual employee is next. So Trump is going to make OT tax free. How do you know he will keep his promise? -
Trump did not have a single black person in his senior White House staff. Not one. Same with his Cabinet. Every conservative jurist he appointed to stack the Supreme Court is white. Harris carving him up on the debate stage like a Christmas turkey was probably his worst nightmare. What's pitiful is the embrace of the black groups he courts for votes. After he gets rid of the Hispanics, they're next.

Getting quite a few "spam" emails purportedly from PayPal
Lacessit replied to xylophone's topic in IT and Computers
I have noticed a rise in fake invoices from people I don't know, for good and services I did not order. I just delete them. I do wish I was tech savvy enough to respond with something that would fry their motherboards, and barbecue their RAM. -
Trump Vows to Make Overtime Pay Tax-Free: ‘Finally Catch a Break’

Of course it sounds good on the surface. Any tax cut adds to government debt. So if one wants a balance, services have to be cut elsewhere. Medicare, social services. When did Americans start believing Trump is a good economic manager? On his string of failed businesses alone, he's a <deleted>. -
