Trump is dominating the primaries. That doesn’t mean he’ll beat Biden
Lacessit replied to Social Media's topic in World News
The only president in US history to have non-consecutive terms in office was Grover Cleveland, who won the popular vote three times in a row. He definitely did not have Trump's indictment baggage. Trump has lost the popular vote twice, in 2020 by 7 million. He has alienated millions of women voters by taking credit for the Supreme Court striking down Roe vs Wade. IMO that would tell any sensible person Trump is toast in 2024, one way or another. -

Oh dear, another "the election was stolen" true believer. Hurry up and send your donation, although it will more likely go to pay the few incompetent lawyers he has left. Trump has lost multiple times. He has a rusted-on base that terrifies Republicans That doesn't mean he can convince swing voters and independents to change back again, given the chaos of his single term. -
The rule of thumb with yellow or orange lights is take it to a service centre or reliable mechanic to sort it out. No need to panic, I had a faulty EMS which went for some time before being replaced. Sometimes, such lights can be corrected by simply disconnecting and reconnecting the battery, to reset the EMS. It may be the oil, or something else, such as a low battery or faulty sensor. OTOH, any red light not associated with things such as the seat-belt or handbrake is the time to stop driving immediately, to prevent further damage.

You were spoilt. What we got as cadets was water, powdered egg, and biscuits. The biscuits were so hard they had to be soaked overnight in water to make them remotely edible. I think they were leftovers from WW 1. -
Would you like them as much at 2 am, when the roosters hit their stride in my GF's village?

The Brits obviously do. Isolationist Americans would not. -

Not much use having two of something if you did not have four of something else. -
Thai gold prices plummet, buyers encouraged to act

When it gets back to 18,000 baht, I'll get excited. I sold out at 25,000. The OP is reminiscent of the stock pumping that goes on in sharemarkets. -

Please wash your mouth out with soap. Not far south of King Island is Cape Grim, which has the cleanest air in the world, and hence is used as a baseline for air pollution. There are probably so many additives in canned cheese it's surprising consumers have not grown an extra eye, or whatever. -

You obviously have not thought about what ghastly processes were used to get the cheese into the can, and then propel it back out. -

When on a station, I used to make garlic yabbies with rice and cabbage. Everyone came back for seconds. Cabbage is at its best when infused with other flavors. IMO boiling it is barbarism. Nothing salacious was meant, although I do wonder about toad in the hole. -

I have no idea why, but Earl Grey tea gives me a headache. Bog standard Lipton's does not. -
IMO the charges were all about preventing him from becoming PM, and will be trotted out again if he looks like succeeding.

My solution is having two places to live in. I'd say the split between the condo and the village is 75:25.

I have never been asked for money up front in either a private or public hospital in Chiang Rai. Bangkok Hospital in Chiang Mai wanted money up front for a check cystoscopy. 18,000 baht, fair enough. I keep 500K baht in an account separate to the 800K, specifically for medical emergencies. During COVID, I was in quarantine for 14 days in a Thai provincial hospital. I was not charged a single baht. IME Thai public hospitals are quite inexpensive, although long waiting times are par for the course.

An American scientist has outraged the British by suggesting their tea would be better with a pinch of salt. https://www.thenewdaily.com.au/news/world/us-news/2024/01/25/us-brews-storm-tea-advice-uk?acid=3976399 One British poster has responded by saying Britain does not need advice from a country that makes cheese in a can. In Richard McKenna's novel, "The Sand Pebbles", mention is made of America's favorite drink, coffee, being made with a pinch of salt, so-called black gang coffee. As an Australian bystander, I await further developments.
