  1. One can diet all they want, but there's not much point if the existing body fat is not burned up with exercise. Back on topic, Cheez Whiz sounds and looks absolutely revolting. Flavored plasticine. This is what I call real cheese. https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/217927/king-island-dairy-lighthouse-blue-cheese-cheese
  2. You may be right, it's a long time since I was there on a regular basis. I blame obesity on two factors - sugar in everything, and the prevalence of cheap processed foods - pasta, rice, bread etc. For me, eating low carb vegetables and low glycemic fruit worked wonders, after banning sugar in everything I could. As a bonus, I also found I could eat as much protein, yoghurt, and cheese as I wanted, without putting weight back on.
  3. You think it's sensible to serve beer at 10 C when it is 40 C in the shade? If you did that in outback Australia, you would be tarred and feathered.
  4. Australian beer is no different to American or UK beers, average ABV 4-5%. As with any other country, there are weaker and stronger ABV's available there. I don't think you do any research before posting stupid comments.
  5. I forget who it was said rentals can go at least 20 mph faster than a privately-owned vehicle. I suspect the real reason would be the cost of insurance, there's probably a premium on that over an ICE, which gets multiplied by the EV risk. Another factor may be Hertz makes no profit on refuelling.
  6. Why would you automatically assume eternal damnation? We keep getting told by believers their god is merciful.
  7. We are a nation divided. The bogans have Christmas dinner with roast beef and plum pudding, just like Brits do. Sensible in the UK, insanity in 40 C. We civilized Australians, who are not descended from the dregs of English society, eat cold crayfish with a Vasse Felix classic dry white on December 25.
  8. A few memories: A guy in a Tony Romano's restaurant in LA, eating ribs. About 2 feet long. Roast beef in Pittsburgh, the size of a loaf of bread. Baked scrod in Norwalk, Connecticut, the size of a small pillow. Spaghetti bolognaise in Consohocken, served in a tureen. And Americans wonder why they have a problem with obesity.
  9. 4 degrees C in civilized places like Australia.
  10. Good food can be made terrible in the process of cooking. I've always liked brussel sprouts. My ex-wife was a terrible cook, who would boil them to death, then feed them to my infant son. It traumatized him for life. Or take the dish beloved by Americans, pork ribs. Delicious when the fat is cooked out of them, revolting when it is left in.
  11. I wouldn't say a nation that drinks warm beer and eats cold pork pies is the pinnacle of culture. Are you still using woad for makeup? My mistake, I see you are American. The land of overflowing plates.
  12. Assuming I get a Thai tax number, how do I convince the RD I am bring in savings, not income?
  13. You guys have never tried eating cheese with a fork?
  14. You spray it on top of wine? I always thought Brits had no taste buds, but this is plumbing new depths of depravity.
  15. You are the soul of kindness, we need more like you on ASEAN.
  16. A bit of a handful? Is he a reincarnation of the hound of the Baskervilles?
  17. I would have thought you could pay one of your neighbors or the wife's relatives to look after him. I'm surprised you can't find sitters.
  18. The cherub looks like he is quite capable of looking after himself. Sorry, could not resist.
  19. You're a little bit late on this topic, I was relying on information of another poster, KhunLa corrected it yesterday, I acknowledged. Do you always use wet lettuce leaves for your floggings? It tickles.
  20. Show me any post where I disagreed with the price fluctuations shown in that graph. The math I am talking about is the calculation of how long it will take for EV's to replace ICE's in the marketplace. No one so far has tried to refute said math. Your post is an attempt at deflection.
  21. Out of curiosity, how difficult is it to get a long-term visa for Laos? I am getting a bit tired of the Thai BS, including the latest tax changes.
  22. I like to think there are people who will mourn my passing, while rejoicing I have left them something.
  23. Did you get both reactions when you bought an EV?
  24. If you can afford it, why not? The Scots genes in me shy away from spending money unnecessarily, if what I have is functioning perfectly well. Having said that, a couple of my worst investments have been in women.
