The culture is different, Thais do not question what doctors prescribe. I am not inclined to interfere in that process, it would only confuse my GF. OTOH, I check every medication I am prescribed here. If I think it is unnecessary, I don't take it. For example, I have check cystoscopies here and in Australia. Gabapentin - an antiepileptic and anticonvulsant. Why it was issued to her in 300 mg and 100 mg doses is a mystery. Simethicone - anti-bloat. This one I can understand. Green pills. No identification on the pills, or the plastic sleeve they came in. She has never shown any signs of psychosis or epilepsy in the 8 years I have known her. She did get rapid relief after taking all the pills. I am wondering how much of this is a placebo effect. I am also wondering if Thai doctors operate on the principle more is better, or at least one pellet in the shotgun spread will hit the target.

There are exceptions to your statement. I have lived in two condos, Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai. Both are old, but well maintained. The CR condo has a manager who is one of the best I have seen, and it takes a lot to impress me. Developers nowadays are focused on profit, and cut corners to maximize it. Thailand is not the only country where it happens.
