https://www.reuters.com/article/factcheck-nobel-ivermectin-idUSL1N2QB2XA I don't have any problem with accepting a good diet, regular exercise and avoiding over-indulgence in recreational drugs such as alcohol is conducive to longevity. I also agree pharmaceuticals are hard on the kidneys and liver, and it is best to limit their use as much as possible via alternative strategies. Having said that, without modern mainstream medicine I would not be 80. I would have carked it about 17 years ago with bladder cancer. And more recently, with other problems. A physio recently told me I was in the top 5% of 80 yo's in terms of physical fitness and BMI. The evidence is modern medicine has extended our average lifespan significantly since the 1900's, and improved the quality of our lives. The data says red states in the US had significantly more COVID deaths and long-term effects than blue states. It also says seriously ill COVID patients being admitted to an ICU are six times more likely to be unvaccinated. So when people want to panic over a study which is not even peer-reviewed, and put the gloomiest interpretation on the results, excuse me for thinking of them as <deleted> in the head.

Deep sigh too, people citing stuff which suits their confirmation bias. I can find studies from India that show it was useless. Ivermectin did not win a Nobel prize, you are posting misinformation. People claim qualifications they don't have all the time, they are called scam artists and con men. I could put myself behind a desk with a bookshelf of tomes, go on Youtube with a degree in aerospace engineering, and say the moon landings were fake. I'd get millions of followers, because there are some real idiots out there. A friend of mine once told me PhD really stood for piled higher and deeper. Having mixed with quite a few during my career in science, I don't disagree.

We can agree to disagree on that point. As I said in another post, my parents wondered where I came from. I had read most of Charles Dickens' works before I was 10 yo. Amusing Thais say the education system in America is so much better, Jeff Daniels does not agree with them. I guess that demonstrates how abysmal education in Thailand is.

Denial of Aussie pension

You are not trolling and baiting me now? Get lost. -
The baseline was good, although my parents did wonder where it came from. 50% genetic implies there is another 50% available for improving IQ if one is willing to work. Some are content to coast on what they have. As Gary Player said, the more I practice, the luckier I get.
-
As a one-off example, my GF seems to have the ability to make friends with other Thais within a few minutes of meeting them. I am not sure I envy the talent, because I would have trouble keeping track of them all.

I disagree. IMO I was successful in my chosen field because I worked in a range of industries before my final gig, which gave me a considerable edge compared to the people who had worked solely in that industry. Doesn't everybody say Thais who have been outside Thailand are smarter than the ones who stay home, where the education system is designed to promote conformity?
-
IQ in Thailand is lower than average because the education system does not encourage independent thought. OTOH, Thais are among the most social people on the planet. IMO they would compare favorably with us in terms of emotional intelligence. Smartphones must have been like manna from heaven for them.

A degree from a Thai university doesn't count for much in Thailand, even less in other countries. There are graduates working in MacDonald's and KFC. Some bar girls are very smart, how else would they take the life savings of a foreigner, or have half a dozen of them on a string?

Kratom might be better for the pain. Everyone is different, pot acts as a sedative with me, and gives me balance problems. -
I have enough of it, what are my options?

IMO Macs are something of a fashion accessory as well, and such accessories always command a premium. It's like when people buy a 200 SLK Mercedes for the cachet, when something like a Kia Stinger or Hyundai Kona N will do the job, just as well or better, at a lower cost. -
I don't seem to have too many problems with Thais, possibly because I speak the language reasonably well. I do tend to keep to myself, mainly because Thai entertainment and socialising is hard on my eardrums. I certainly like sitting in a shopping mall, and watching slim leggy Thai girls walk past. On balance, I would say I have had more problems with foreigners than Thais.

My mistake, I think of tabs as windows. One of the reasons for my exit from Windows ( the Vista version ) was the mind-boggling amount of time it took to simply boot up, let alone operate anything else. Usually about 3 minutes. In contrast, my first use of a Linux system was about 20 seconds. I did once have a secondhand Mac which I found to be quite user-friendly. I would probably buy one if money was no object, but the damned things are so expensive. -
The igG4 compound is an antibody, yes? The researchers note an increase in this antibody from 5% to 20%. Whether this change is permanent is unknown. Why is it assumed this spells disaster, when it may actually be a beneficial alteration to the immune system? It seems any headline with COVID-19 in the title can spark irrational responses from all the usual suspects.

I am not sure what that has to do with a 30 second wait time between tabs on Windows 11 the poster was complaining about. -

Sorry to hear that. Work on the rehab, but don't push too hard. Important point you made about the full face helmet. It baffles me why anyone would get on a bike without one. Looking forward to some indication of your next bonk, then we will know you are well on the road to recovery. -
Pattaya Authorities Tackle Nuisance from Transgender Women

I am probably tucked up in bed well before ladyboys go on the prowl for victims or clients. You are wise to cease walking there, about one-third of regular marijuana users become psychotic. It's not a good combination with the fragile mental state ladyboys are in. -

No idea, perhaps you would be kind enough to enlighten me. -

Please explain why that should make any difference for the function described.
