  1. I agree. But where are you getting the X3 BEV's from? The reading I am doing is saying at best, only 20-30% of ICE's can be replaced by BEV's. There just aren't enough raw materials. If you have contrary information, please post it. AFAIK coal-fired power stations are not purpose-built to produce hydrogen. Cracking methane is an entirely different process. You may be referring to producer gas, which uses coal, and is a fairly lethal mix. If you are referring to using the electricity generated by a fossil fuel station to electrolyze water, that would be as big a farce as carbon capture and storage.
  2. What are we as pensioners? To the politicians, we are a bloody nuisance. A drain on the public purse, and a fairly powerful lobby group. As some have found out to their cost at the ballot box. To Centrelink, we are a precedent. Every Australian approaching pension age is expecting the same benefits as we are getting now. To the ATO, we are an afterthought. Most of the tax juice was wrung out of us when we were in the PAYE system, or running our own companies. What's left really is not worth bothering about. One of the under-appreciated features of Thailand is its cash economy. I don't see much point in tying myself into knots about what may or may not happen. I've put strategies in place to address them if they occur. I recommend others do the same. If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.
  3. Using methane to produce hydrogen is really going around in circles as far as global CO2 emissions are concerned. The production process has carbon monoxide as one of the results, which is nasty stuff to have around. The main advantage of a hydrogen-fuelled car is carmakers can make them with their existing production lines, all they need as a bit of tweaking, like they do with LPG and CNG. It burns hotter than LPG, so hardened valves and seats would probably be needed. There is no argument EV's are cheaper to run, and are environmentally friendly IF they are refueled using renewable energy. However, I really doubt there is enough of the raw materials needed for them to completely replace ICE's.
  4. Why would I say hello to a complete stranger? If I saw someone a few times in the same location, I might say hello. If they ignored me, I would ignore them from then on.
  5. Apparently Trump's latest venture into retail, gold sneakers for $399, has sold out. Which IMO shows (a) some people have more money than sense (b) their taste is in their @rse. Which is quite fitting, given Trump's own problems in that region.
  6. After Robodebt, IMO Centrelink will be very wary of enforcing anything.
  7. DTA, my mistake. My Australian bank does not deduct tax from any interest on deposits, as they have my TFN. The ATO has not contacted me since I put in a non-lodgment advice a couple of years ago. I can't quote any sections, I am explaining my individual circumstances. I guess I could say I am flying under the radar. IMO there are a lot of people that do.
  8. It's a conundrum, because under the DFT someone who is deemed to be tax resident in Thailand can't be taxed by the ATO. Hypothetically, suppose I earn $2000 in interest on a savings deposit in an Australian account. Until I move that $2000 from Australia to Thailand, the authorities there don't know the money exists.
  9. Agreed. The question then becomes whether a tax number is required to satisfy visa extension criteria.
  10. The ATO has my Australian address. My TFN has been quoted to my bank in Australia. I have not given my overseas address to the ATO, nor do I intend to. My principle is to tell bureaucrats the bare minimum. I put in a non-lodgment advice several years ago, and have not heard from the ATO since. When I worked in north-west Australia, I knew a guy who worked as a surveyor. Moved around a lot, earned good money. He had not put in a tax return for 20 years. I don't know if the ATO ever caught up with him.
  11. Correct. You can transfer savings prior to January 1 for as long as they exist, provided you have documented proof of them. And continue to accumulate your pension in an Australian bank account tax-free. Which does raise an interesting question - the interest earned on the Australian pension savings - who gets to tax that?
  12. The constant non sequiturs, typos and other errors in your posts leads me to conclude any education you had was wasted on you.
  13. The USA is only strong and powerful militarily. Politically, it's polarized to hell and back. 50% of Americans still believe in angels. Every conservative in America goes into apoplexy when the word socialism is mentioned, not realizing the US harbors possibly the most socialist body on the planet. The American military. There are quite a few non-Americans who have plenty of evidence America has a lot of low IQ people. IMO when one combines a low IQ with a poor education, it's the classic Trump supporter.
  14. I was recently told by a physiotherapist my exercise regimes and physical fitness level are in the top 10% of people in my age bracket, which only shows how stupid your post is in making conclusions about someone you don't know.
  15. True, it wasn't a great move, I doubt it was half the country. She lost to a combination of factors, including Russian interference. She won the popular vote. You didn't see her starting the Big Lie, or trying to overturn the election with fake electors and insurrection.
  16. I wore a mask when the circumstances called for it, such as a shopping mall. I did not wear one on my scooter, or in my car. Please keep going, you are in the running with frank83628 for the most asinine posts on this thread.
  17. The term most frequently used is "poor white trash". Hilary Clinton's "basket of deplorables" really poured gasoline on the fire. There's a book published over 30 years ago which predicts the coming of Trump. It's called " In the Electric Mist of the Confederate Dead " by James Lee Burke. It describes very accurately the effect of a messianic populist on his followers, even down to their willing acceptance of being made his victims.
  18. Horse<deleted>. He has broken the law repeatedly, and now he is paying the price for doing so. The law is there to protect society from rapists, murderers, and thieves. If you have a problem with that, I suggest you move to Russia or North Korea.
  19. Fox is saying Trump's last? Oh the irony.
  20. I am happy with my life, and what I have. Trump may have properties, jets, and golf courses. With all that wealth, perhaps you can tell me why he either looks and sounds angry, or miserable. Most of his posts either lash out at people, or whine about how unfairly he is being treated. IME winners don't do that. His supporters are losers too. They buy into his message of grievance, bigotry, and hatred. It's preferable to admitting to themselves their situation results from their choices in life. I don't measure a person by their wealth. Those who do IMO are as shallow as a mud puddle.
  21. I despise Trump because I am an honest person who has never cheated anyone in my whole life. His constant grifting, lying, and abusing people who do not worship him, offends me. Trump stinks, both metaphorically and literally. Check out what Adam Kinzinger says. Or Taylor Swift. His supporters are too dumb to realize they are the ones he is shafting most of all. It's unfolding already, don't you get that? I am not losing $83 million to a woman I raped and defamed. I am not losing $350 million for fraudulently inflating my assets. I am not facing jail for election interference, and exposing national secrets. I don't know whether the news about the plane seizure is valid, which is why I entered a caveat. I also despise people who attack me when they can't even get their facts, spelling and punctuation right. I live in Chiang Rai, genius.
  22. Someone may have issues. There's a video on YouTube saying an unidentified bank has had Trump's personal 757 jet seized, based on one of Trump's companies being unable to trade in NY anymore. One of the orders by Judge Engoron. As yet, there is no verification of the report by any other media. The price tag for a new Boeing 757 is $100 million. Used, $4-11 Million. One can only wonder what Trump's valuation is. He poured a lot of money into making it a luxury aircraft. If true, the house of cards may be starting to collapse.
  23. A single person is not a sample. Most statisticians agree that the minimum sample size to get any kind of meaningful result is 100. If your population is less than 100 then you really need to survey all of them. But then, you probably never got that far in school. Like most Trump supporters.
