  1. From your own link: The Reserve Bank of Australia's (RBA) deputy governor says that wiped out the bank's profit for the 2021-22 year, leaving a net loss of A$36.7bn. The bonds were accumulated under a A$300bn emergency stimulus programme. However, the bank says the loss will not affect its normal operations. "If any commercial entity had negative equity, assets would be insufficient to meet liabilities and therefore the company would not be a going concern," RBA deputy governor Michele Bullock said. "Since it has the ability to create money, the Bank can continue to meet its obligations as they become due," she added.
  2. Interesting technique, the guy gets as much sex as he wanted, got his money back then went back to his wife. I wish the women I have had in my life cost me that little.
  3. Reserve banks print money, remember? That is one of their functions, money supply. I'd suggest posting a credible link to what you claim is a reported fact. A statement the AUD is heading south again also means nothing, it's a single data point.
  4. I would suggest a chest X'ray to ensure your lungs are clear, sounds like long COVID.
  5. Government debt has dropped significantly, Australia is rated AAA stable by the ratings agencies. The economy is stronger than many other countries. You may be right; however, I would not be buying US dollars. I prefer gold and silver. We'll see in a few months whether your prognostications are correct.
  6. The coldest I have been is on top of Treble Cone in New Zealand, and Chicago in January. I got pretty cold in Canada. I was sitting in Calgary Stadium watching the most boring version of football ever invented, and it was 4 degrees Centigrade according to a big scoreboard. In the middle of what Canadians call summer. A fight broke out among a few spectators, IMO they were only doing it to stay warm.
  7. Looking at GDP figures, present and predicted, Australia is one of the best situated.
  8. You are claiming religions don't need a god, 3 out of the 4 main ones do.
  9. True enough. Russia is cold too, but the reason for poor life expectancy there is alcoholism. With the Inuits, possibly diet. He's 63. I'm 79, the only ice I contact is in my drinks. Interesting link.
  10. Toyota has a reputation for uninspiring but reliable. Good resale value. Charging points are unnecessary for hybrids, the battery recharges via regenerative braking and the parallel ICE. The bloke who stated the fuel economy was presumably wrong, if he is not keep the Vios. My 16 year old Vios gets 17 kilometres per litre. I'd be expecting better than 25 for a hybrid.
  11. The average life expectancy of an Inuit/Eskimo is about 13 years less than those Canadians that don't live in igloos, or go fishing on ice floes. Permit me to doubt Wim Hof has any scientific evidence to back up his belief.
  12. When you get to my age, cold is unwelcome. It was actually my GF that broke out the blanket, and women tolerate cold better than men.
  13. Oxford Dictionaries defines religion as the belief in and/or worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods
  14. Putin can react against civilians, certainly. His options are diminishing on the battlefield, sending untrained and unwilling conscripts who are not even sure they will get paid, to war with poor equipment and terrible supply logistics, will just lead to more reverses.
  15. I have had a similar problem which has taken me a week to sort out. WISE insists the transaction must occur using my full name as shown in my passport. The bank I send it from uses my surname, plus initials. This causes the transaction to be rejected by WISE.
  16. Even with the naughty bits blanked out, the wench in the picture looks quite tasty.
  17. Really. Come to Chiang Rai for a swim in my condo pool, that will soon change your mind. Last night, had the thick blanket on the bed for the first time, and it's still October.
  18. Centrelink will be assessing the income from the house rental against their income test. They may assess the value of the Thai residence IF the AverageBloke declares it, depending on which one they choose to regard as the principal place of residence. Yes, I know, some people don't declare their assets in Thailand. Meantime, the AUD is back above 24 to the baht, so the doomsayers are keeping quiet.
  19. On ignore now, so neither of us waste our time.
  20. One of the best books I have read is "Journey into Russia" by Sir Laurens van der Post. In it, he says the Russian psyche has been profoundly influenced by the great invasions from the East of the Tartars and Mongols, which kept it a society on the run. He also has a quote which is very appropriate for Putin and the Russians who support him: “Human beings are perhaps never more frightening than when they are convinced beyond doubt that they are right.”
  21. Russia has done very poorly in exploiting the wealth of resources in Siberia, I have no doubt the Chinese think they could be more effective. They may be right.
  22. Latest news: The Russian-backed leader in the Kherson region has ordered mass evacuations of civilians from frontline settlements, while the commanding Russian general has said all Kherson residents will be evacuated. https://thenewdaily.com.au/news/world/europe-news/2022/10/19/russia-evacuate-kherson/?utm_source=Adestra&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=PM Extra - 20221019
  23. This war is proving drones are the future of aerial war, Comparatively inexpensive, hard to shoot down due to their size. The Russians are using them indiscriminately against civilians, their utility against military targets has been proven by the Ukrainians.
