  1. IIRC, it was Russia who started the war. Easy to see where your allegiance is.
  2. I don't think the fresh meat and vegetables I buy in the local market has risen much, I'd agree on imported Western foodstuffs. It's a fairly simple equation, distribution of food supplies relies on the diesel fueling trucks. The further they have to go adds cost. When the cost of diesel goes up, so does the cost of food.
  3. The data is saying long COVID is far more prevalent among the unvaccinated than people who were vaccinated. Of course, such data is anathema to the anti-vaxxers. In the most vulnerable age group, vaccinated. My COVID lasted 3 days, I was back to my normal exercise routines in a week. My only long COVID symptom is increased impatience with antivaxxers, anti-fluoride campaigners, and Russian trolls. The gulls who think Trump won. Yes, I am a statistical sample of one. Two,if you count an unvaccinated friend who experienced fatigue and mental confusion for a couple of months after being infected. AFAIK the only treatment process thus far is rest, and availing oneself of whatever rehabilitation services are available. Add in a determined attitude to recovery.
  4. I can't see anything in that link that refers to Russian contributions to the Thai economy, seems to be as useless as tits on a bull. If you're referring to the APEC meeting, that's just a gabfest and photo opportunity. You may be right, Thailand is in thrall to China, who are treading cautiously. Western secondary sanctions would really screw up China.
  5. What consequences? Thailand is already in China's pocket. Banning Russians from traveling to Thailand when they can fly to other destinations first won't have much of an impact. Russians know they are in a war now, no more "special military operation" BS. Russians are either getting out as fast as they can, or going into hiding to avoid conscription. The general mood seems to be one of sullen resentment. Not a good start for any military.
  6. I don't know what the relative scorecard is. However, I would point out Putin's war, quite apart from the battlefield and civilian casualties in Ukraine, is going to kill quite a lot of innocent people via starvation. Because it is the world's largest exporter of fertilizer. https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=russia+fertilizer+production+percentage Agree, the Myanmar junta is equally repugnant, but AFAIK they are not affecting GDP, inflation rates, interest rates and world economies. The war in Ukraine is.
  7. The 6 million Ukrainians killed by famine on Stalin's orders in 1931-1932 might be informing her views, or the current targeting of civilians by Putin, because he is losing badly on a battlefield he is too much of a coward to visit. Staged photo ops with a sniper rifle is as good as it gets, although he does prefer poison. Or perhaps it's the Budapest agreement, where Putin guaranteed Ukraine's sovereignty in return for Ukraine giving up its nuclear arsenal. Russian troll spreading lies, on ignore forthwith.
  8. Really. How about posting credible links to information that shows how much Russia contributes to the Thai economy, while I take a look at how much American sanctions would cost Thailand. AFAIK most of the Russians in Thailand are wanting to stay out of Russia, so there is little risk of offending them.
  9. IIRC the businessman in this news has a bevy of 5 underage girls, that suggests grooming to me. I like sex with younger women, down to 30 yo. Beyond that, uninterested in teenage airheads.
  10. This kind of stuff would not be occurring if the businessman got ten years in the slammer. Not likely in Thailand, though.
  11. While I agree updating the bank book on the same day is annoying, it's not that hard. I go to the cash deposit machine outside the bank at 7 am, deposit 1000 baht. Then move to the passbook update machine. Takes a couple of minutes. IMO the rule is there because it is possible to withdraw an appreciable amount of funds using a linked debit card without those withdrawals showing in the passbook.
  12. There are legitimate agents dealing with legitimate clients who have the requisite funds. There are other agents who use various subterfuges to circumvent the immigration laws, including bribery. The consensus seems to be the risk of being caught is quite low. I used to have a legitimate agent in Chiang Mai. I started doing my yearly visa extensions and 90 day reporting myself, because all the agent did was smooth the path at the Immigration office. It's a matter of individual choice, I may go back to an agent if I get too old to handle the paperwork competently.
  13. I've never heard of air in coolant. The water/coolant pump circulates through the engine block and radiator pretty fast, it has to for heat transfer. Hence any air pocket should disappear quickly. While I realise air is a very poor transfer medium, it does strain belief so much air would get into the coolant that it would interfere with the coolant's function. I agree - always follow the manual.
  14. Or change it yourself with the correct mix, it's not rocket science. A couple of other possibilities - a faulty temperature gauge or warning light, or a clogged radiator front if it drove through a swarm of insects. I'm guessing you've probably checked that already.
  15. Yes. The fan is intended to kick in when there is no air flow, such as being stopped at a traffic light.
  16. How does the OP know what is in the radiator now is the correct coolant? Excessive dilution of coolant or substitution of plain water is a possibility. The OP should also feel around at the top of the radiator ( inside ) for irregularities such as aggregated rust which should not be there. I agree with other posters overheating after a coolant change is suspicious. I'm not sure how coolant gets air in it, being at about 90-110 C in operation. Standard laboratory procedure to degas water is to boil it. Perhaps people floating that hypothesis are confusing engine coolant with brake fluid.
  17. I got two free vaccines in Chiang Rai, Sinovac and AZ. I did have to push somewhat (politely) to get them, I must have been the only foreigner among thousands of Thais at Big C. I was refused a booster in February ( Pfizer ) got it free at the village clinic instead. I did not mention I had had COVID, which was the basis of refusal in Chiang Rai.
  18. It sounds to me like there are different rules applying in the various government hospitals. Or perhaps they have changed since I got COVID last October. I was placed into quarantine for 14 days in Phan provincial hospital. All the medications, including antivirals, were free. The 14 days in the quarantine ward, including food, was free as well. I even got extra meds to take home with me, we were asked to isolate for 6 days after discharge. I don't know if Thainess has anything to do with what happened to the OP.
  19. I have never been a couch potato. I have always exercised, but have amped up somewhat since 2021. Never dieted prior to 2022, ate everything. Exercise - stretching and mild cardio (Youtube ) in the morning, climb 12 flights of stairs. Swimming before lunch, golf 2-3 times a week. Afternoon 15 minutes of cardio ( again Youtube ) with 1.5 kg dumbbells. Diet- No packaged food. No snacks. One slice of whole grain bread for breakfast, two poached eggs, fruit and plain yoghurt. Limit sugar as much as possible. Can't avoid it in fruit. Gave up orange juice, cakes and ice-cream. Absolutely no beer, a couple of Sangsom rums once a week. Two coffees a day. I have two small squares of Lindt 99% cocoa chocolate a day. No potato, carrot, rice, noodles or pasta. Cucumber, tomato, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, bamboo and beans are all good. Olives, macadamias, avocado and mushrooms ditto. My general rule is most things growing above ground are good for me, anything below ground is not. Modest daily protein intake, 200 grams of any meat or fish I want. I eat as much Brie, Camembert, vintage cheddar and cottage cheese as I want. The diet principle is training my body to burn fat instead of sugar. It's not a full keto diet, more reduced carbohydrate. Apart from weight loss, my waist size has gone from 40 cm to 37 cm. I can now afford to break the diet twice a week with fish and chips, or bangers and mash.
  20. There are no explicit prohibitions of a woman's ability to abort under Islamic law, although various sects are either permissive or forbid it. It seems Judaism and Christianity are the principal opponents. Personally, I believe it is the woman's decision, which is usually based on the unwillingness to bring up a child in poverty, and men should stay the hell out of it.
  21. Just operate within the limits WISE sets, i.e. transfer 2 million baht every day until target is reached. Note: WISE wants your sending bank account name to match with your full passport name. If not, there are other hurdles.
  22. Logorrhea? Not really. Some posters on ASEAN find it difficult to construct a single sentence. I am starting to think I may have acquired masochism syndrome in responding to posters on ASEAN.
  23. Since you ask, a mostly benevolent narcissist with more than a touch of OCD logorrhea appears to be the most pertinent analysis. I was not smoking anything when I penned this post. I apologize for not responding to your posts immediately; however, I do have other things to do.
  24. I will not attempt to educate you on the glories of the greatest game ever invented, except to say 95% of golfers play it badly. The handicap system was designed to provide a level playing field for all levels of ability and age. Reading your babblings on the topic of golf is like listening to a prepubescent child expounding on the sensations experienced during the female orgasm.
