  1. After he has deported all the illegal immigrants that pick America's crops for below minimum wage, how will that make groceries cheaper? It seems Americans en masse have abandoned critical thinking. Perhaps some never had the capacity.
  2. Actually, there is a solution. America defaults on its debt, just like Trump duds his creditors. The only question is whether Trump, Musk and Ramaswamy are crazy enough to do it.
  3. EBT is a new acronym to me. Is he protective of your wife?
  4. It is for all of us, I don't worry about it. You could get electrocuted pushing a mop, well before the usual life expectancy. Or I could have a heart attack during sex. IMO Thailand is one of the better places in the world to be, if the sh!t hits the fan, either by war or climate change.
  5. What function does the dog have? Farm dogs in Australia will ride quite happily on the back of a scooter. Sounds like both your wife and the dog need more training.
  6. I can't see how a combination of tariffs and tax cuts is going to reduce inflation. Of course, trillions could be cut by reducing military spending, or slashing Medicare and social security. Trump has promised not to cut the latter, and wants to increase the military budget. So where are the cost savings coming from?
  7. Why don't you buy her a scooter, then you could really be lazy.
  8. Yams and rice are only marginally better. Fess up, you don't want to plant cabbages because there is too much bending over.
  9. At my age, the average life expectancy is 5 years. The money is not for me. It is for my son and my GF, they both deserve it.
  10. Shame on you, contributing to the obesity epidemic in Thailand. Get out there and plant cabbages instead.
  11. I thought you were a Trump supporter. Having second thoughts?
  12. Over the years I have been living in Thailand, my assets have been decreasing at an average rate of AUD 7000 a year. That's after getting the OAP, and investment income. At the end of 2024, it was a pleasant surprise when my assets increased by AUD 15,000. A combination of exchange rate fluctuations, and a cashed-out capital gain in precious metals. I am looking forward to 2025, when I am expecting shares in a rare earth miner to take off. My health was quite good during 2024, so yes, it was a good year. Happy New Year.
  13. The diet I developed is not full-on keto. However, sugar and anything high carb went out the window. Noodles, pasta, potato, rice, carrots, bananas, mangos. No alcohol. Low carb vegetables such as cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and green beans stayed in. Once a week, I allowed myself a Magnum ice cream. It's common sense a lower body weight places less stress on the heart and other organs. eGFr is a measure of kidney function. About 50% of elderly people die of kidney failure. After the diet, my eGFr reading improved by 20 points.
  14. When traffic goes from two lanes to one, usually pickups and larger vehicles will ignore the signs, drive to the front of the line, then push back in. Selfish driving, it slows traffic down. I sometimes wish I had sword blades on my car, like Messala's chariot in Ben Hur, so I could slash their tyres as they go by. Perhaps the OP should consider taking a katana with him for his constitutionals.
  15. Chiang Rai is definitely different to Chiang Mai. Cooler, and it does not have CM's traffic jams or derelict malls.
  16. I got quite confused about Korat, its other name is Nakhon Ratchasima. IIRC the second name was on all the road signs.
  17. I weigh 81 kg. My scooter weighs 150 kg. Unless you weigh 230 kg, you won't be kicking me in the back. You will be too busy scraping yourself off the pavement, after being flattened. I do use sidewalks occasionally. However, pedestrians have right of way. I stop and let them pass before moving again.
  18. Perhaps you should also include China in your reclassification. Most of the ones I know in Australia are high income earners.
  19. I don't know if you follow a Dr Ken Berry on YouTube, he says sugar is inflammatory. Strawberries, blueberries ( especially ) and raspberries are all good fruits. Apples are halfway, bananas and mangoes are high in sucrose and fructose.
  20. An interesting link to Brown Mixture, thanks. When I came out of a government hospital after a bout of pneumonia, one of the going-home pharmaceuticals issued to me was Brown Mixture.
  21. The other way is eating the right foods. We eat far too much carbohydrate and sugar, it is everywhere in Thailand. About 3 years ago, I resolved to lose weight. Low carb vegetables, no alcohol, as much protein and cheese as I wanted. Carbs are what the body burns to produce energy. If the body does not get enough carbs, it turns to fat for its energy source. I went from 93 kg to 78 kg on that diet. I have backslid a bit, now 81 kg. My waist went from 41 inches to 38.
  22. You are right, the OP did state "overweight and obese". If the obesity rate is 36% in America, it makes me wonder what the combined data would be. The two attributes are measured by BMI. It can be somewhat misleading. Elite midfielders in Australian Rules football would fail the BMI test, due to their high muscle mass. So would gorillas.
  23. My degree is in chemistry. Physics was a mandatory part of the curriculum. I understand thermodynamics has been dropped as a subject from quite a few science and engineering courses. Not because it is irrelevant, because it is too hard. I said the laws of thermodynamics are the drivers of global warming and climate change. Show me your evidence they are not. I agree there are some fields of science open to dispute. Thermodynamics is not one of them, neither is the physics of infra-red radiation being absorbed by the carbon dioxide molecule. But hey, knock yourself out. If you can disprove the laws of thermodynamics, I'll nominate you for the Nobel Prize in Physics.
  24. A cult of reason, logic, and facts. Unfortunately, it is very small, and swamped by a majority of morons on social media.
  25. Art was by far my worst subject in college. Models are predictions of what may happen. Some are quite close to what actually happens, others are not. The laws of thermodynamics were formulated about 150 years ago, They are the drivers behind global warming and climate change. Starting with Carnot (1796 - 1832 ), these laws were developed progressively by other science luminaries - Joule, Clausius, and Lord Kelvin. Scientists have been attempting to overturn the laws of thermodynamics for the same 150 years. None have succeeded. Deniers are welcome to try for themselves. It will be like monkeys typing out Encyclopedia Brittanica, someone might get lucky a billion years from now.
